The Crusade Begins

[Leroi Daniels]

*Laying with his back flat on a couch, Leroi lays in the apartment building of his therapist. His shrink would sit in chair across from him with a notepad, pen, and glasses. She looks at him and address him in a calm manner.*

 

Shrink: “And what actions have you taken, while you have experienced this ‘enlightenment’ you speak of?”

 

Leroi: *Answering relaxed and reluctantly* “Well um… I’m not to proud of what I have done. I’ve lashed out at many people, committed vandalism on my jobs property, and have been distancing myself from my family. The funny thing is doc, when I did these things I didn’t feel like me.”

 

Shrink: *Intrigued* “What do you mean by that?”

 

Leroi: “ I mean that… I felt like I was a completely different person. Like someone pushed me out of my own body and had taken the wheel. It sounds crazy I know, but it’s true i’m telling you.”

 

*She writes on the notepad while listening to Leroi. Adjusting her glasses, she continues.*

 

Shrink: “How does It feel, when you no long have control over your body?”

 

Leroi: “It feels like being in the passenger seat of a car, except I can’t see the driver. I sit back able to see everything that’s going on, but I can’t do anything to stop it. It’s like I’m paralyzed.”

 

Shrink: “And you said that there's another person at the wheel right?”

Leroi: “Yeah.”

 

Shrink: “This may sound weird, but do you think It’s possible that we speak to this entity that possess you from time to time?”

 

Leroi: “I don’t think that’s possible.”

 

Shrink: “Just give it try please.”

 

Leroi: “Ok.”

 

*Leroi closes his eyes and remains silent. His eyes can be seen rapidly moving under his eyelids and then suddenly stopping. Leroi opens his, slowly sitting his upper body up and turning towards the shrink.*

 

Leroi: *In a calm manner.* “Hello.”

 

Shrink: “Hello and to whom am I speaking to?”

 

Leroi: “A higher power. One that intends on liberating the volatile natures of the human mind.”

 

Shrink: “What do yo...”

 

Leroi: “How does it feel, to know that you live and embody the definition of insanity?”

 

Shrink: “Excuse me?”

 

Leroi: “Extreme foolishness and irrationality. That is what I see when I look at you. You see, the real question is not who I am, It’s who are you?

 

Shrink: “Well uh…”

 

Leroi: “Who are you? Are you someone that has fallen down the rabbit, have you been trapped in a paradox? Are you in a period of time and space where you don’t belong, who truly are you?”

 

Shrink: “I am Leroi’s therapist. What have you done with him?”

 

Leroi: *He points to his head, tapping it with his index finger.* “He is here, simply observing and learning what I have to offer him.”

 

Shrink: “And what exactly are you teaching him?”

 

Leroi: “Liberation, Enlightenment, the ability to help others find their true selves and release them from the restraints that keep them from being woken. He will soon become a prophet of what I intend to accomplish. And that quest starts with you. Now answer the question and I want you to think deeply; who are you?”

 

*Shrink takes off her glasses and leans in more towards Leroi. A tear slowly crawls down her face and she answers.*

 

Shrink: “I am a broken person.”

 

Leroi: “And what do you seek?”

 

Shrink: “To be rebuilt and with a purpose.”

 

Leroi: “And do you know what that purpose is?”

 

Shrink: “To help bring others into the light, as you have done to me.”

 

Leroi: “Yes” *He extends his hand out and offers to the shrink.* “You are no longer broken my child; you have been rebuilt in my presence. Now come and we shall begin our crusade in this city.”

 

*The shrink takes his hand and the two exit the building together.*
