The scene opens with an eerily familiar sight; Doc Green sitting gingerly in the medical room backstage, accompanied by an onsite paramedic. Light Heavyweight title in his left hand, he uses his other to palm his nose, caking it in the blood still gushing from his nose. He winces slightly at the sight.

Doc: ...Ugh. Not again.

Another paramedic approaches, putting a clipboard aside and standing across from Doc, handing him a handkerchief to stop the bleeding.

Paramedic: Well, we got the preliminary X-Ray results back. Turns out the injuries you sustained in the ladder match with Antonio Everrett are, in a phrase, much worse than we first thought.

Doc grimaces, eyeing the championship in his hand.

Paramedic: The bad news is you’re looking at a septal hematoma, orbital bone fracture and a really, really broken nose. I’m sorry, but we’re going to have to advise that you-

Doc: No. You can’t. I just got this. I’m defending it next week, you can’t stop me.

Paramedic: And we had a feeling you might say that. There is some good news; we can clear you-

Doc: Done. Thank you doctor, we’re done here.

Doc moves to lease, wincing in pain as he gets to his feet.

Paramedic: -on one condition. You need to wear this in the ring, to protect yourself.

The paramedic pulls a black face mask from one of the nearby shelves.

Paramedic: Obviously, we’re still going to recommend that you don’t compete, but if you want to continue as you are, this is the only way.

Doc stares for a moment before reluctantly taking the mask and nodding.

Paramedic: It’s already fitted for you, since we thought this may be the route you take. And Doc, if your injuries get any worse at all, we may still take it out of your hands, so don’t push your luck.

Doc inspects the mask, before taking a look at his championship and then back to the paramedic. He begins to move to the exit before doubling back to speak.

Doc: Understood, doctor. Loud and clear.
