On the Road with Eddie Allen

by Sharon Peters

Former OCW superstar Eddie Allen has found a new calling. After spending the last few years getting tossed around the OCW ring by the likes of Tyro Kraven and Versus, Allen has embarked on a new journey, that of a Rock and Roll star. The smooth singing Allen recently formed the band ICONO, and has been touring the country for the last few months to promote their first cd, “The Man with the Chair”. We were able to chat with Allen as his band prepared for their latest gig.

Peters: What made you decide to hang up the boots and embark on this new journey?

Allen: \_0_/

Peters: Uhh, what are you doing?

Allen: (Breathes in) Being awesome.

Peters: Well your doing a good job, your first CD, Man with the Chair, has sold 36 copies worldwide, did you expect such a positive reaction on your first project?

Allen: \_0_/

Peters: With the success of this project, it is rumored that a 2nd CD is already in the works, care to comment?

Allen: (slowly drops hands and breathes in) My musical talent is far too important to not release another CD. It would be unfair to the rest of the world.

Peters: We have heard that some of your former colleagues at OCW have sat in and played with your band at a few tour stops, are there any other OCW superstars that could have pulled off the same cross-over success that you have enjoyed?

Allen: Absolutely not. I am where I am today because I’m more Awesome than anybody. Just because your jamming with me does not mean your on my level!

Peters: It seems like the world is at your feet, you have gained many fans with this cross-over project. Many people wonder if your wrestling career is truly over. You are such a young man, Any plans on a return to OCW?

Allen: There was a time when I needed OCW. It was my only identity. I lived to be in that ring competing. Now, I’m a self made superstar. I sell out shows worldwide. I don’t need OCW. OCW needs me! With all the new blood in OCW, and all the old school guys leaving the company, I’m the biggest superstar they have, and I’ve not been in a ring in months.

Peters: So you think.....

Allen : (interrupting) Could you imagine the buy-rates of an OCW PPV if I agreed to sing AND wrestle on the same night?

Peters: I guess it would be....

Allen: (interrupting) It would be the biggest event of the year. That is why OCW needs me. Listen, its been nice talking to you, but it’s over. I can’t put any more strain on my vocal chords by answering your silly questions. Get out!!!

After my brief interview with Eddie Allen, I came away impressed with his confidence. The show later that night was incredible. Allen has the iinsane ability to switch musical genres like no other artist before. The only question is will he continue down this Rock and Roll path, or return back to his roots and compete in the OCW once more? I think many fans would love to see both.
