No Rest For Rooks

[H20_]

(Scene opens up to H2O's now fully furnished and finished Loft in Queens. He's training hard in the gym; kicking & punching the punching bag. He's worked up a sweat and rests his head on the bag. He's still kneeing the bag in and panting in exhaustion.

 

A buzzard rings at the door. He walks over and checks the camera on the wall. He opens the door quickly.)

 

H2O: Mom.. Dad you're here too! Come in please! Please excuse me. I'm a mess right now. I'm training.

 

Dad: Love what you did with the place here, son. I don't remember starting you off with some of this stuff.

 

Mom: Yeah, sort of got a woman's touch to it. Don't you think, Love?

 

Dad: That or my son is getting soft.

 

H2O: (chuckles) You guys don't miss a beat do you? That lady from the Committee insisted on some of the furniture around here. Thanks for the gym equipment guys.

 

(Dad continues to look around the place while talking to H20.)

 

Dad: Looks like you're breaking it in nicely.

 

H2O: Absolutely! I'm in the opening match for the New Year on Riot. This is big for me so I CANNOT disappoint.

 

Mom: Who are you facing? It isn't that masked man is it?

 

H2O: No. I finished him at Devil's Night the good "O" way. Next time he acts like a diva he'll know to grab a snickers next time.

 

Mom: Harvey I told you not to get upset. We seen what you did. This is what I was afraid of.

 

H2O: What I did got me another chance to make a name for myself on Riot. I face Mo' Cream and Samsin Simsin in a triple threat!

 

Mom: Mo' Cream? You guys with these names.

 

Dad: Simsin? Isn't that the 0 for guy?

 

H2O: I know I know. I'm not going to be that guy I promise you. Better yet I promise my damn self. I'm not going to lose to a joke of Mo' Cream and an 0 for.

 

(H2O walks over the weight bench. He adds more weights on. He lays down on the bench and starts his reps.

 

While holding the weights up in the air he concentrates on his breathing. He starts his reps while his parents look on.)

 

H2O: My 1st match was a loss.

 

(Breathes)

 

H2O: My 2nd match was a DQ.

 

(Breathes)

 

H2O: This one I MUST win.

 

(Breathes)

 

H2O: This one I WILL win.

 

(Breathes)

 

H2O: Pepperton... I learned.

 

(Breathes)

 

H2O: Ligermask...He learned.

 

(Holds his rep up for a second)

 

H2O: Mo' Cream & Simsin...They'll learn.

 

(Breathes)

 

H2O: I'm The Past

 

(Breathes)

 

H2O: I'm The Present

 

(Holds his rep up for another second)

 

H2O: I'm The GOT DAMN Future of this business!

 

(H2O continues to do his reps to train for the upcoming match.

 

His parents look at each other and realize he's in the zone. As they make their way to the front door.)

 

Dad: OK son. We're in town for the holiday season.

 

.....

 

Mom: We love you. Come see us when you get done.

 

.....

 

(His parents talk amongst each other only they can hear. While watching him work.)

 

Mom: He found his nitch finally.

 

Dad: Yes, I agree. I feel bad the next guys that have to face him. He's the opening match right?

 

Mom: Yes. He thrives under pressure and when the spotlight is in him. Let's get out of here and let him be.

 

Dad: I'm just glad I'll finally be there for this one. He'll knock it out the park.

 

(As they walk out the scene fades.)
