RYU: Oh hello! I didn’t notice you there! The camera pans out a little more to show Tiberius Dupree sitting at one of the desks in the classroom. Dupree: I noticed you, and your mediocrity. RYU: You may have noticed our recent time travel shenanigans on tv, and we realize this may be somewhat confusing. Dupree: *sigh* I don’t even get it. RYU: So in order to prevent you from being confused and possibly becoming angry we have created this public service educational session to explain time travel. RYU: But as a preamble we must explain the Door Theory of Time Travel. RYU: When traveling in time you, necessarily open a door. RYU: When you step through this door you create two timelines. RYU: One where you step through the door and disappear. RYU: And one which starts when you emerge on the other side. RYU: The original timeline continues without you, as you left. RYU: And you alter and split the timeline where you emerge. Dupree: Kneesus Christ RYU: With that out of the way let’s begin. Ryu claps, the lights dim and a projector begins projecting images on the whiteboard. RYU: This is the original OCW timeline, lets call it the OCW Prime timeline. RYU: In this timeline, I defeat Tiberius Dupree at Chill Faktor and ALLEGEDLY ruin the Future. RYU: This causes Future Ryu and Dupree to travel back in time to prevent my winning the title, creating a new timeline. RYU: HOWEVER, we not only have the Future Ryu and Dupree who prevent Ryu from winning at Chill Faktor we have a Ryu and Dupree who go back in time to prevent Ryu from even competing! Ryu turns into a thinking face as he looks at the slide displaying three timelines. RYU: So how are you doing Dupree? Are you feeling less confused? Dupree: Yes, but only because I’m angry now. RYU: Well I’m about to blow your mind CAUSE THERE’S MORE! RYU: Remember when Future Mugen came back to meet up with Future Ryu and Dupree? Dupree: To hop in the Delor… RYU: NEW TIMELINE! Dupree: *sigh* Dupree: But wouldn’t it actually create two timelines, one where Ryu, Mugen and Dupree are no longer in the timeline and another where they arrive. As if on cue the slide changes RYU: Now you’re getting it! But we aren’t done yet! RYU: Now we have MORE FUTURE Ryu and Dupree! RYU: And even though this is where we know we are now… Dupree: Oh kneesus don’t say it… RYU: THERE’S MORE! RYU: Because with all these shenanigans we must assume that there exists a timeline where no one has time traveled! Dupree: I hate you… RYU: And we don’t even know what Future Dupree, Ryu and Mugen are doing in the past and how many timelines they’ve created! The camera pans out a little more to show Mugen sitting in the back of the classroom. Mugen: But it gets even worse! Because now the time traveling versions of ourselves are interacting with each other to try and ensure that their new timelines are dominant! Mugen: While this initially creates two timelines, Mugen: These timelines branch off as we enter a time crisis known as the War of Infinite Timelines. Mugen: While this spans many many many timelines we only need to concern ourselves with the resulting timelines. Mugen: The Timeline where Future Ryu and Dupree recruit Future Mugen and form the Trilateral Summercide Council to regulate all Time Travel and Timelines, the Keystone Timeline. Mugen: The council reviews all instances of time travel and any belligerents to the time accords are apprehended and placed into the Zero Timeline. Mugen: Creating an Exile Timeline, altered by the introduction of these belligerents, but trapping them there because the Laws of the Zero Timeline do not allow for time travel. Dupree clutches at his head in pain Dupree: THIS IS STUPID, NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE! RYU: Of course it doesn’t make sense! Its time travel, time travel is a horrible narrative tool. Dupree: THEN WHY! RYU: Because its fun!
