I might see if I can do something with discord for Patreons to have priority VOICE POWER. Or something to limit the amount of anarchy. Half the time I couldnt hear the commentary. Which is funny the commentary is making people more excited but yet they aren't hearing all of the commentary because they are excited....LOL

Or maybe yall can calm the fuck down! I don't know!

 

I honestly don't really have any gripes about the show. There is some little nit pick things but doing commentary helps even subpar matches seem pretty good. It honestly elevated lesser matches, and made really good matches amazing.

 

It was nice to hear the reactions and sit in the VP for a change, just doing twitch tings, I hope to make this a reoccuring theme but we will need to have some kind of town hall if we plan to make this official. Because as much FUN....as it was to do this, even with the help of Kramer, Yake, and Kass it was still a lot. It reminded me when I did web shows only in the old days and it took me all fucking weekend to do a show fix stupid matches rerender, all for nothing as the community was self serving sacks of dookie. NOW the hard work feels worth it just by all the reactions alone. But yea it is a lot of work and it needs to be sustainable in its present form it is not sustainable for me on top of having to do everything else!

Illuminati’s Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious TTT Night Review

 

Oh hello! I didn’t notice you there! Its me your friendly neighborhood Spider, Illuminati, here with an all new, all improved, returning Illuminati Show review.

 

Now, this show is a lot different from our standard fair for OCW, so we’re going to mess with the formatting of this review by tacking on a couple overarching segments towards the end

 

So without further ado, Lets get on with THE SHOW

 

PAGE 1

 

TTT Night Intro

Great production value, great clips picked out, the After Effects Template that was used fit the theme of the PPV perfectly. All in all, it set the tone for the night perfectly.

 

Jay Throws Spider Out

 

Since this is one of my segments, instead of doing a review, I’m going to pull back the curtain and show you guys my thoughts on why I did what I did. For those of you that follow my Discord antics, I threatened to get involved in both TTT matches if things started going south. Jay immediately dmed and said “We’re doing this promo right?” So we did, and I think it was perfect comeuppance for everything I’ve been doing/saying on shows and explains why I don’t get involved later in the evening.

 

MATCH: Drago Cesar vs Bray

 

Standard Fare Entrance from Drago, Yu Yu Hakusho Entrance from Bray brings up an interesting conundrum and opinion; unless an attire is spot on/strong enough to stand on its own legs without the reference its… referencing it doesn’t work, isn’t worth doing.

 

As for the match itself, I very rarely see it brought up, but what makes Drago so good at this game is that his reversal timing is nearly flawless, and his understanding of range is nearly impeccable. Drago embodies the Ultimate Defensive Player in OCW.

 

So there are two options to deal with this, either you take on the herculean task of throwing Drago’s Reversal Timing and range awareness off; or just weather the storm and get reversal and strike damage in when you can.

 

Bray opted for the second option, and barring a few tactical errors like taunting at inopportune times and pressing some advantages a little too far he did a really good job. Even going so far as to get Drago red first.

 

Unfortunately I think Bray got to this point by compromising his control of the match and leaving it in Drago’s hands. I even recall several points where Drago was up by two reversal stocks or more which is certainly not ideal.

 

Drago eventually puts it away in a match I felt he was in control of all the way through. Great showing by Bray though, definitely shows mechanical improvement at the game, but tactical could use some work.

 

CQC and Harvey Segment

 

I think one of my favorite parts of Riot this season is everyone seems to be “in the mix” which gives people options no matter what happens. Although this comedy segment seems like it's just friendly banter it's being used to lay the foundation for a feud that could happen moving forward from TTT Night.

 

MATCH: Hijo De Mistico vs A Horse

 

The entrances were solid, unfortunately Bourne and Mistico’s attires took a hit from the game limiting their options, Kraven would have been dope with Fur and Mysterio’s Bike Helmet unfortunately killed it, but a gold star from me for the attempt.

 

As for The Last Blacksmith, I’m going to quote something Parker said about me when I first debuted, “I don’t get it, but it works” and that's all you need for an effective attire. It gets a good reaction every time and it's immediately identifiable.

 

This was a great lightweight matchup, lost of “small guy moves”, and great high flying. My only complaint is I HATE that backflip springboard kick , it NEVER looks good.

 

The finish was great, something about a whiffed move, especially a springboard, into a finisher that always looks good. I think this is a cool moment for Blacksmith, getting a win on a big stage like this. Hopefully he can parlay it into something more. Also interested in seeing how Mistico recovers.

 

Cort and B-17 Segment

 

This is a great odd bedfellows(sorry Cort) segment. I always think its nice to do cross platform rps, but it's hard to justify it when there really can’t be a proper pay off to these interactions. Maybe you could work it into a Shepherd v B-17 match if Shepherd exists on PS4. I think I may be to much of a pragmatist when it comes to this kind of thing, but thats my two cents.

 

PAGE 2

 

Valk and ??? Segment

 

This was a nice little face segment, it's always compelling to see a little doubt creep into the hero’s mind. Maybe the demon isn’t in Furiosa maybe the demons were Valk’s self doubt the whole time. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM

 

Terra and ??? Segment

 

Former Tag team Champion ???, one half of Abeyance making his second appearance of the night. This time with Terra, never trust someone selling Vegan “”””””food””””””. Absolutely disgusting. Anyways this stranger is creeping on Terra hard, I always find the nice guy gimmick to be super cringey/rapey in rps, maybe that says more about me but I dunno. Anyways the stranger says he has some business to attend to armed with a chair. Too bad security was too busy throwing NUMBER ONE DRAW Spider out and not keeping this creeper out.

 

Code and Bingo Video Promo

 

I liked this segment a lot, it got me really excited for the match. It was really well done, and I hope more people take their cue from this. Gave the match a BIG FIDE FEEL MAGEL

 

MATCH:Austin Aries vs Scumciety

 

Entrance wise things were pretty standard, scumciety looks like they smell like pee, as they should, Austin Lee looks like Austin and Aries is doing his usual thing. I would have actually liked to have seen the white suit out of Lee, but my heart isn’t broken.

 

First tag match of the night the Scummy Trumoil Tag champs defend against probably their most decorated opponents to date and it really showed. Both guys were crisp, a lot of “alpha counters” great exchanges and smart tags in and out.

 

Jay Fury was doing a lot the damage for Scum while Wrex absorbed a lot of the damage, and more importantly reversals, which is actually a strategy me and Mugen liked to use when we were tagging. Meanwhile Austin and Aries shared the workload pretty evenly.

 

It's hard to say which strategy is more effective because in the end it had no bearing on the finish with Fury eating a finisher out of an even exchange and Wrex getting caught before he could make the save.

 

While part of me wants to see this run back because it was such an evenly contested match, I do want to see Wrex try and make another foray into the Main Event picture. We’ll have to see where this goes.

 

P3 Christmas Special

 

I know for your average viewer the P3 segments can be hard to digest but for people who know Drago and Mugen well they’re a real treat.

Terra and Flojo Segment

 

D O N ‘ T B E L I E V E T E R R A ‘ S L I E S. Flojo is a picky eater I guess, I feel like you could have substituted an NPC in for Flojo and it would have been the same, sort of wish more of Flojo shined through in this segment.

 

Alyssa Winters Segment

 

A THOT would know a THOT huh Stacy? REMOVE THOTS. Interested to see what happens here, not sure who Alyssa is, if its a genuine rookie or someone’s alt.

 

MATCH: Code Yackman vs B-17

 

Code’s look is solid, but it's starting to get stale, I think the haircut was a step in the right direction, but even just changing your tight colors from week to week helps a lot. Bingo’s look is strange as always, can’t say enough how perfect Bingo’s music is I always find myself singing along with it as its on.

 

I actually feel like B-17 was in control of most of this match with Code just hanging in there a step behind for the most part. Some great exchanges with Code just being patient and staying in the match.

 

Any match can turn around in an instant, B made one mistake trying to hit his finisher and it created an opening for Code to get a big win. Interested to see where Code goes from here. I think he needs to shake up his character a bit to get to that next level; but I also think he might be better served continuing this feud with Bingo.

 

I feel like very few people outside of the upper card are running long term feuds and to me that's the difference between top guys and mid level guys. The feuds you become known for are the long ones.

 

Jehst Segment

 

This was a solid I HATE YOU segment, and it's a great example of how a longer feud really seems to have more of an impact. Not much to say here since this was a simple and effective promo, you don’t always need to go crazy to accomplish what you need to.

 

MATCH:Dragana vs Flojo

 

Standard fare entrance wise, was hoping for a cosplay attire from Flojo for Devil’s Night, but her look is fine.

 

There’s really no way to put it nicely but this was a mismatch. Bray had just enough mechanical ability to stay in his match, but ended up losing because Drago couldn’t be shaken on the tactical level.

 

With this match there was just too much of a gap mechanically and strategically. Good effort by Gooch, and great character stuff leading into it.

- Glad Jay getting involved with the RYU trash talk finally. Great reveal and the build up over the last month finally pushed this raggedy bitch over the edge! Fuck you, Jay!

 

- H2O cramping my style as always. Sad!

 

MATCH: Bray vs Drago

Drago opens the card with another strong W. Last time it was AC Cobra, who simply lacks the stick skills to compete, but Bray is pretty good at the game. What makes this open challenge so fun is that Drago is on both consoles... so you just never know til... whatever the hell Bray is... came down to the ring.

 

- I really wanna see who this person is with Valk. She's done a great job building this up over time. I would have been too excited for the reveal and done it too early. WHO ARE YOU!?

 

- Holy shit. That video from B17 and Jackman was cool as hell. Twitch thought so too, as the views skyrocketed during the show. Perfect example of an awesome flavor video that adds so much immersion and realism to our shows.

 

MATCH: Scum vs Austin Aries

 

Fuck you, I thought his name was Austin Aries. I saw someone comment on his attire saying that it was derivative, but I don't watch WWE so fuck that! I love his attire. I actually thought Scum would handle these two thoroughly. I was not prepared for the chemistry. DOPE finish with Lee kicking the Rican out of Fury.

 

- Pop'd hard at "Baby It's Rollin' Outside".

 

- Oh no. The Terra RP with FloJo is in all bold. DON'T HURT ME MIKE

 

- Who in de hell is Alyssa! Yes! More women's competition. With the additions of Elsa/Terra/Alyssa/Constance... we might actually have some more fire ass women's matches down the line... and whomever wrote this. It's really good as an intro. Looking forward to more.

 

- Jehst getting me all jacked for one of about 12839 hardcore matches this show! I have been waiting so long to watch the conclusion of this and I will not be disappointed.

 

MATCH: FLOJO vs DRAGANA

 

FloJo put up a hell of a fight early and midway through. I actually thought she might pull this off until late-game... when Dragana just continued to murder her with back to back sigs on the chair and capping it with an amazing finish. The follow up was good too, continuing to cement FloJo as a more refined character compared to last year.

 

- TAYY IS BACK! Turmoil people shit on this return, but making that video was a blast and I thought it would have been some of my finest work if people even knew who he was. Bummer to know that nobody really remembers his angle with Dillinger and Telos from... well, every show since Anny 14.

 

- I can't lie to you, The Inception is a great stable name and this RP does wonders with all 3 going over as faces.

I'll take that one. With a combination of a MAJORITY of the storyline being set up in the promo room/offseason.... him only being around since July... Tayy being considered an alt.... and really general lack of interest in the character (among other criticisms)

 

I can see why it wasn't well received/understood. This played a lot better in my head.

 

Please know though - I heard the criticisms that he was a bland, flavorless "caricature" and I completely rebranded him as a more energetic/colorful CAW. Hopefully once more people get to see him in action and more and more... He'll be received better.

I popped kinda. But I didn't like his Purple People Eater attire. Honestly no bull shit it just feels like you feuding with yourself and mind you, this isn't exclusive to you I'm sure it happen in the past. That coupled with the other stuff just leaves me with a bit of a Eh feeling. I mean its an interesting story and the fact that Telos is involved helps drastically and the whole "IF I AINT GOTTA MATCH IMA KILL YOU" works. IDK I "Will just let it play out!"

Interesting way to look at it. I hadn't really had that view (although it's fairly obvious). I just couldn't dump Tayy and use Dillinger to side with someone else with no continuity or follow up. Hopefully going forward once the two entities are really separated, it'll become more interesting.
