We enter the Combat Center, moving swiftly towards the ring area in which Elijah Sanders, Thomas Archer and one of the other trainees can be seen practicing.

Archer: So, what a lot of people do when it comes to reversing an Irish whip is this…

The student demonstrates and attempts to whip Archer to the corner who reverses, making the young man take a corner posting.

Archer: Which is all good, but you don’t really want to wind up in the corner in a triple threat match, what to do instead…

They demonstrate again, this time when Archer reverses the whip he pulls the young man back into a hard back elbow, knocking him to the ground. He goes for a cover and gets a two count.

Archer: See? You stay on top. Give it a try.

Archer is being nice, most likely because he’s on the job. Elijah attempts the motions, nailing them exactly.

Archer: Good. Good. Now, we’ll work on what you can do to defend a leg takedown. Most people will go into a sprawl like this…

Archer drops backwards onto his belly as his opponent advances, seizing him into a front face lock.

Archer: What you can do from here, is up to you. Knees, elbows, attempt a guillotine. Another way…

Archer resets and stands the student up.

Archer: Is to simply drive your knee upward as they go for the double leg. Of course you’re relying on being quicker than your opponent so it can always be risky, if you’re off then you’re on your back in defense mode. Any questions? Anything you want shown in the last half hour of the day?

Eli: Not at the moment. Just wish I was able to put things away in my Lock Horn match. If you have some time, I have some psychology things I want to pick your brain about.

Archer: Sure. Go get cleaned up and I’ll meet you in the Betterness classroom.
