El Parca Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Since some man doesn’t wanna upload the actual show I’m gonna do my Lution review here. Because I can and nobody can stop me, unless maybe Jim but he’d have to be very coordinated as I have nukes pointed at him. Anyways, I’m gonna be reviewing with all the hats on so the comp hat, fan hat, and wrestling hat. So I might be all over the place with how I’m saying stuff, deal with it. Alright fuck it let’s get into this bitch. WL19 Hype Intro: Spectacular opening that got everybody amped right the fuck up for the show. The video going from one song to another and switching vibes midway through was such a beautiful thing and added depth to the overall edit and the quality of the video. Wouldn’t have changed a single thing about it and I feel bad for WL20 as trying to up that intro is gonna be rough. OCW World Title Threeway + Hype Package: I normally don’t ever talk about my stuff or my matches but I gotta break from that on this. Firstly, insane props and appreciation to Maxx for making the hype package and moving me, that was easily one of the best hype packages I’ve ever seen in OCW and he did such an excellent job. Secondly, another massive shoutout to C-Note + Maxx for the incredible feud + match at Lution. They both were there when I needed them and always showed why they are two of the very best handlers in OCW right now. That match couldn’t have been a better swan song for El Parca + his championship reign. I didn’t expect it to get so deep near the end but it gave me immediate flashbacks to 2k22 when me and Maxx would always dm and know each others intentions so well and it definitely reflected in the end of the match. Incredible ending and a well deserved new OCW World Champion is crowned, I couldn’t be more proud of Maxx for all the work he’s done since returning and I’m beyond excited to see what he does for his title reign. MATCH RATING: 5 STARS (shoulda main evented!) Southern Dirty Cash Promo: I think it was B17 who said something along the lines about if you’re not on the show, you don’t always gotta do content to be on the show. I’m probably butchering it however I am in that camp as well, no fault to the creator who made this video but I feel Lution is sort of an anomaly event for OCW where, I want all the main stuff and that’s it. I appreciate the effort in doing a video but this segment just seemed very out of place and probably could’ve been cooked a bit longer to be more fulfilling. Just having a standalone screenshot of an interviewer and then flipping back to idle SDC is something overall I’d like to see fade away in the fed. There’s other smaller things we can do to add depth to the videos with these similar motives / messages that would keep the viewer engaged. Had I been a first time viewer I’d probably would’ve clicked off at this because it just felt odd. If this video is on any other event it doesn’t have as much awkwardness either so you live and learn. RyVaughn vs. Sheldon + Hype Package: The hype package was very nice and already setting us up for the theme of the weekend where every single hype package is going to have its own pizzazz, flavor and theme that separates each one from all the others. The beginning especially with the horror movie vibes was very fitting and seeing how both guys are dealing with their pasts and losses from El Parca kept adding weight to see how RyVaughn is gonna react to Sheldon’s cryptic messages and whispers. The match itself, had its high and its lows. One thing that I noticed very clearly is RyVaughn needs a moveset overhaul, you can tell he’s trying to be a good guy and he’s trying to have this good guy moveset but it almost felt like he didn’t really know what to do or what to strong together in a way to keep the flow of the match moving in certain moments. I also feel there were some rather suss moments on doing fins on the outside, going for that top rope move afterward and just certain questionable decisions. Not that it really took away from the match heavily but it brought lulls into the match where it broke the immersion from a wrestling match into a video game session. Sheldon somehow someway taking all that abuse and punishment was actually fucking nuts. Near the end it obviously started to ramp up where finally Ry got his victory and gave Sheldon his first singles loss of the season. The post match for this definitely intrigued me so much and made me cackle since Sheldon took all credit for that performance by Ry even though he was getting his ass tore up. A great showing by both guys that I’m beyond excited to see where they both go after Lution. MATCH RATING: 4 1/2 Stars A Sensational Meeting: Pretty cut and dry segment where Emp is voicing her concern with Jay competing. Kept the story between Wrex / Jay pushing before their clash on N2. Pride Title Match + Hype Package: Draganas Pride title reign always has 2 things, a really good hype package and probably an absolute ass beating. The hype package was very well done and the story between these two was not the route I was really expecting for them to go into Lution, I don’t know what exactly I was expecting but I am not displeased by any means. It’s always an extremely tough task when anybody is stepping up to Dragana and Christine obviously knows this from her prior outings with the Pride champ. I don’t know if anybody was expecting to see the level of chain wrestling we saw though from Dragana in this match. That’s seriously so impress that I hope we don’t see it again for quite sometime from anybody because I want it to be a special thing. However it’s OCW and yall are gremlins so someone’s gonna try to replicate it. There was a certain point where I knew that it was only a matter of time before Christine was gonna lose. All that chain wrestling wears down the cardio and there’s only so much you can do when you’re tired and going against Dragana. The champ prevails and the post match antics gave us a rather amusing close. One thing that missed for me is the manager, she wasn’t really in OCW long enough or with Christine long enough to where I didn’t really care about her. It seemed like she was a prop just to get the story along which I don’t mind but I think the emotional value would’ve been elevated a bit more had she been here longer. The awesome surprise comeback from Jehst giving us a very fairytale ending knowing Christine and her grandmother are gonna be okay was a nice bow on top. MATCH RATING: 4 Stars Steven gets Claudio’s Ass AGAIN! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I really think Steve is the easier / more comfortable character to be ran from the handler. He seems more organic and just much more fluid in what he does compared to JynX. Seeing Steve slowly but surely climbing up the ranks and going after higher and higher dawgs is always a pleasant thing. It will be a real question though on if he can hang once he and Claudio do inevitably meet in the ring though. There’s a part of me that can’t wait for Steve someday down the line to get gold and hopefully make it his own personal hardcore title cause that’ll just be fantastic. Overall I’m clamoring to see what these two dudes are gonna get into when they finally square off. BASH vs. Bolek + Hype Package: THE HISTORY! THE DRAMA! THE TENSION! Bolek has come a long way since his time in DNS and BASH has only gone further and further down the hole of being an absolute asshole. Their hype package prepares you for a battle where Bolek desperately needs to win he desperately needs to get some sort of revenge against BASH. The match itself however would not give the fans that sort of result which I don’t want to say was expected but BASH is just further proving this dominance and that he will do what needs to be done no matter the cost. It was a very good back and forth with a game effort from Bolek but the man just couldn’t get it done and got his ass buried in the casket. It does make me wonder exactly where does Bolek go from this, you’re down 0-3 against BASH and he pretty much just got away Scot free with everything he did to you. I don’t want to see Bolek go away for good nor do I expect it but I do think if Bolek was gone for a little bit to sell the loss and really add weight to the fact that the heroes in OCW are falling and failing it could add an extra layer of hopelessness to the grander story of the fed. MATCH RATING 3.75 Stars It’s JynX turn: JynX doing all the mind games to Nate before their battle on night two as well. Pretty much it really, will the mind games help him in taking down Nate or will that just fuel Nate’s rage to getting his title back? Harris vs. Flash + Hype Package: The story between these two has been top tier. The hype package that follows also reiterates that point as well. Two guys clawing for a top spot wanting to prove their salt and show the fed they are who they say they are. Paul the precision, the knife wanting to stunt the momentum of Devon. While the hype package itself was spectacular the match itself did leave more room for wanting more from it. I don’t blame Devon, sometimes it’s just the name of the game when you get ahead and it’s on your opponent to claw back and fight to regain ground. Unfortunately it was a little too sorry too late because while Paul did mount some sort of a comeback it just wasn’t good enough. Devon snatched the victory here in easily his biggest singles match so far in his babyface arc. Massive credit to Paul for trying to blow out the steam for a promising guy but Devon continues to show us why he’s soon to be next man up. Overall, I’d like to see a sort of different approach now from Paul or after his next feud. I want to see how the man reacts to another devastating loss, does he still has this unadulterated confidence? Or does the mask start to slip and he start to descend into madness? Devon is another curious thing for me on what does he do now? I think naturally he could challenge either midcard champ but I’d like to see him hone in his character even more in more “blood feuds” or “grudge matches”. Not that I don’t want him to be a champion but when you’re on arcs like this it’s hard to continue them once you’re straddled with gold. Either way, good job to both guys and wonderful hype package. MATCH RATING: 3.25 Stars Ruck Felics: Don’t let the dope bars and silly outfit disguise that Drago is one of thee deadliest and greatest competitors in OCW (he even mentioned his Lution streak!) but to be able to see him being goofy and just having fun reminds me of a Twitter comment about Okada being a midcard comedy act stuck in a generational 5 star machine body (that’s Drago but he says fuck what body he’s in.) the ending was hilarious as we got a brand new screaming Drago meme that helps us keep the show rolling. Womens Chamber + Hype Package: The story for the womens chamber like I’ve said before I feel could’ve been honed in a bit better and probably should’ve been saved for another PPV. All women had their purpose in this match from the build but there definitely was parts where I wasn’t content enough for it, I would’ve liked to see Skadi interact with Perl more, Sarah and Debbie, Cheryl and Perl, Marisa and Skadi. More honing in showing the layers of why all women are involved in it outside of Perl wants to get Deborah, Deborah wants her title back, and Marisa v. The World. The hype package was creative and right to the point where it showed the weight, the spectacle and the pressure of such a high stakes match. I 100% did not like the lineup of how the competitors were in the match, obviously the game has everyone come out so quick it didn’t really matter but I would’ve liked the order differently. There was a few spots that I think were done one too many times and I don’t mean to sound rude about it but I’d have liked to see some awareness on it, we didn’t need a good chunk of people diving from the top cell or attempting to once it had already been done twice and it wasn’t really successful either time. Funnily enough the way everyone got eliminated I really did like that. Cheryl, Perl, and Skadi all being definitive eliminations while Debbie and Sarah got rolled up was a small extra touch that you just can’t plan for. Especially Debbie, it leaves the door open for a Debbie v. Marisa rematch if Debbie beats Perl since I imagine that those two aren’t nearly done yet. Marisa going from #1 to retaining the title is a massive feat that I don’t know if it’s been done before in OCW let alone by a women’s champ. I’d really like this retention to be a second start for Marisa’s title reign, her reign has been rather chaotic and a bit clunky. Now it’s cleaned up and we can really start new (outside of the inevitable Junko match ofc) but I’d really like to see Cheryl rebuild herself so we can get the fucking 1v1 against Marisa that we’ve been robbed of this entire time. Skadi, Sarah, and Perl all can rebuild and need to stay away from Marisa for quite sometime. Especially Skadi + Perl, they’ve both now lost to Marisa multiple times and it’s now time to see what they can do far removed from any title picture. Overall the match did what it needed to do, I don’t think it was the greatest chamber but it wasn’t the worst either. I could only imagine the annoyance it was to try and get this match done mechanically when dealing with this dog shit game. Incredible performance by Marisa and congratulations on all women for becoming Lution main eventers. MATCH RATING: 3.5 Stars I’ll probably review night two either later or tomorrow at some point. Night one was an incredible night and it definitely rivals some of the best PPVs we’ve done entirely in OCW. Remember, all these thoughts are mine and mine alone. It doesn’t need to be the end of the world if you disagree with me, I’m not trying to shit on anyone or rain on any parades and am just giving my feedback on the show. Excellent work from the community either way and thank you for the magnificent Lution weekend. 8
