OCW RIOT - May 8th, 2008

To Smythe's defense here, he lets me have it quite often, but he keeps it real. And while Kaang isn't winning very much, he's just in a slump. I stood ringside for that match against AMART. If Martin hadn't blocked 3 finishers, Kaang had that match in the bag.

 

I agree that Smythe writing a critical review is a good thing. People need to know where they stand sometimes. And while Smythe isn't the dolly lama of pro wrestling, he is from Canada, which makes him more qualified than any of us on the subject manner. Further, he's not the toolbag jobber that he once was.

 

I can sit here and say how great some of us are because we were never really jobbers, but Smythe has come farther than most of us despite his rocky start.

 

So if he takes a jab at you in the Wonder Report, don't take it to heart, but consider what he's saying, because there is probaby some accuracy there.

 

I have never liked Smythes "report" if you can even call it one at all. Pointless negativity and a book written all about himself. I can't tell you how many times I have read false accusations and comments that don't make any sense. Occasionally Smythe might say something I agree with but for the most part I don't. People say I write to much on Death Row and never on anyone else...wrong...have you read Smythes stuff??? 3 lines on this match...10 on his RP...1 on this guys RP...20 on his match.

 

What im trying to say is...I agree with Kaang.

I like the wonder report. I like all reports. The thing I like about the Wonder report is that Smythe has obviously taken time to go through the RP's watch the shows and choose what he likes and dislikes.

 

It is VERY true that if Smythe cuts an RP its RP of the century. If Carlos has a plain finisher its a horrible finisher but Smythe has a plain finisher and its the best finisher in OCW. We know Smythe is a self indulgent fool. According to Smythe he shits 24 carat gold and farts perfume but we all know its not true.

 

I do think Cross that you are biased towards Death Row. Majority of people thought the ending to the HC match was a little bit corny. You and Bold thought it was Amazing. Thats fine. We would all be encouraging to our faction mates. But expect to get a little bit of stick from it.

 

What I'm trying to say is 'Each to his own'. Now lets get some show discussion up in thsi bitch!!!!!!!!!!

I said it was a great idea/spot but could have been edited to fit better. People seem to like to put words in my mouth never did I say it was "AMAZING." Was that not a cool spot? Mace is doing all this stuff on his own now. His RP and match were first times I had seen or heard about it. This is all coming as a surprise to me so when I see the dude I brought in and helped morph and get started Ive got to give him props.

 

What am I supposed to do. We are on damn near every Riot...we have atleast one RP per show...I say maybe half size stuff Smythe does about himself...and people flip. Yet I comment just as much on everyone else. I've really started to consider pulling a Kage and just not commenting at all and sitting back for a month until people get this "all I do is comment Death Row" out of their head. WHICH I DONT!

Yeah sorry it was Bold that said it. He said 'sick' not Amazing. Same difference. Like I said each to his own. Did I personally like the spot, no. However if that were put in an attack video for instance or something that wasn't a show match then yeah it would have been good.

 

However where it was placed, in a Riot match I didn't care much for it. But that could have been because it was such a good match and I was really looking forward to see how the match would end, I was then surprised and dissapointed as to the end.

people forget that we are simulating a television event, which is meant to entertain. Alot of your are purists who want to see exactly how things go down.

 

I've got news for the lot of you. More stuff is scripted than alot of you think. Sometimes things are scripted and passed off as actual matches because its for the good of the show. The finish on the Mace/Aries match was clever, fitting, and capped off a great match.

 

Who cares if the last 10 seconds was edited. that finish would have never happened in the original match. I like the fact that they are being creative and with Aries putting over Mace's boot like that goes a long way in my book.

 

You got the same outcome that you would have had you seen the original ending. You guys have to think about the time and energy it takes to put spots like that together and to edit them in to fit.

 

Majin does it all of the time and is heavily praised for it. This edit job was just as entertaining as the stuff Majin does. Lets face facts, this was a hardcore title match, it wasn't a technical battle till the end.

do i say it when he blinks?

do i say how awesome he is when jay mentions a mace weapon in wow?

no

 

do i say a prayer for mace at night when i go to sleep?

no

 

do i talk about mace even when mace is not the topic of conversation?

no

 

point is Mace does not need the extra effort from you guys like he did his first week here.

 

What mace needs is to blaze his own path. he is more then capabile of doing that.

 

mace is fine he does not need the constent Nut holding and praise.

 

the one thing mace did was he edited a match and maybe it wasnt the right time to edit.

 

he has edited match endings before but you cant do it for every match becasue it takes away from it, it takes away from the awesomeness of the edit when it is actaully used correctly. that match would have been even better if it just ended without the edit because the fight for a finsiher sometimes is worth seeing.

 

also whoever edited the match should really try harder to line up thier edits and make things match up as best they can. no one wants to see a belt suddenly appear in the ring or a body move 15 feet away from the orginal spot. maybe this si why majin is praised for it because his edits are usually spot on.

 

you need to be selective when you edit a match ending.

 

other then that good show.

eh, I didn't like the edit job. Seemed too obvious. Good edits should be subtle. The WL3 OCW ME was an edit job, (The match was legit up until I went for the Elbow - in reality Majin lost to the first Elbow, but we edited it for the bigger spot.)

 

If you're going to edit an ending, try your best to remove obvious occurances. Few are going to notice a momentum shift - but when your fighting style changes outright people will notice.
