What a time to be alive. It's 2025 EMP and Dragana are champions meeting in a monumental matchup of long time OCW titans in the Women's division. This for my money might be the most anticipated Main Event of the season, right up there with the thrilling B17 El Parca matchup.
Since Dragana has returned to full time competition it has been full speed ahead for her. She has not missed a beat and is undefeated so far this season. She is currently feuding with Junko Jirrota over her Pride Championship. Seeing Junko's affiliation with EMP these days I won't be surprised to see her get involved somehow.
EMP is also undefeated this season and this matchup appears to have huge implications for her. She is chasing the record setting reign that Deborah set as the previous champion. It's January and holding on to the title through the year with no defenses could get her quite close with minimal effort.
I am very much looking forward to the chess match I expect from these two. Both are going to have their moments in the match. However I am going to have to say I think Dragana has more moments, more often during the course of the match. Junko's involvement will likely come after the final bell has rung.
Prediction - DRAGANA CESAR SHOWS HER PRIDE AND DROPS MRS. SENSATION LIKE A DEADBEAT DAD GOING TO GET MILK AND A PACK OF SMOKES.
TRIPLE THREAT ACTION - MAD DAWG DAVIS vs. JOHN CARTER vs. CLAUDIO STARDOM
We all know when it comes to multiman matches they are absolute chaos. Anything can really happen. An interesting trio we have here with John Carter, Mad Dawg, and Claudio Stardom. Each guys who have much different styles in the ring.
John is a really good wrestler who despite his moral compass from week to week being more flawed than Jae's attempts at texting... he is good in the ring. He should keep the action moving.
Claudio has looked like the dominant force he was during his last International Championship run. Ending a young promising career in Rory Miller, and a dominant victory of Luis Bishop has the OTC on the a roll.
Mad Dawg Davis is always a threat in the ring at anytime. One of the founding members of DNS coming off of a big victory at the OCW 20th Anniversary show. Dawg looks for more buzz around his name and to bring home for the actual loyal members of DNS.
Prediction - MAD DAWG AND THE ATOMIC DAWG SCORE ONE IN THE WIN COLUMN FOR DNS
ROOKIE CHALLENGE - BELLE vs. JUNKO JIRROTA
These two have some issues with two longtime OCW veterans. Belle with her now appears former mentor Ashely Moore. Junko with OCW Hall of Famer and Pride Champion Dragana Cesar.
Belle is always a threat to put on a really good match with her opponent. I know she is eager to right the ship after her loss last week. Belle of these two has the clear experience advantage.
Junko has made massive strides in her game since she arrived in OCW. Some big wins and overall she has looked very competitive. Her association with EMP has garnered her some more attention. She has taken advantage of this in a big way.
Junko is much better, not sure that she is quite on the level of Belle yet on a week to week basis though. Junko tends to start slow when she loses and rarely makes it all the way back. So the early parts of this match will be crucial in my mind to determining the final result.
I think a couple of Contour Crushes are in Junko's future. She starts slow, and never really finds her way back into the match. Based on their entirely different styles I expect for this matchup to be mad by the clash of styles.
Prediction - YOU CAN RING THAT BELLE! RING THAT BELLE!
TAG TEAM TURMOIL NONTITLE - THE PIVOT* vs. UNDERGROUND ELITE
The champs had a great win against a really good team in Cold Front. They look to follow it up again with the rookie upstarts UE. I am not sure which iteration of UE we are going to get to see. I think there is a lot of potential in this matchup either way.
I think UE really needs to have their standout moment. A win against the OCW Tag Team Champions could give them the path to go down. They have been a group that looks to capitalize on being a mostly rookie faction in the way that DNS for example has. DNS had those watershed moments that made us who we are today. I want to see more of those.
Singing the praises of the champions, they have been knocked down a number of times. Whether it was Temple of Omen, other combos of DNS. However when the chips were on the line against Mass Effect in arguably the biggest match of both of their careers they showed up.
UE has been a really wonderful development and I think everyone in the faction including Deaver will benefit from this arrangement long term. I do not see them getting one against the tag champs at this time though. The Pivot should make their way through this group with their tight team cohesion. My over under on tag moves for the Pivot in this match is firmly 3.5 tag moves.
Pivot starts quick and never looks back. They are going to take control like the champs should. UE will fight and I don't expect them to lay down at all.
Prediction - THE CHAMPS MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE PAY WINDOW AFTER QUICKLY DISPATCHING OF THE UPSTART ROOKIES
THE REMATCH - ALEKSANDER BOLEK vs. STEVEN JACKSON
The first matchup between these two left a lot to be desired. I called the match and remember how it dragged on. Both of these guys have had good matches with others, so I fully expect them to turn it around here.
Steven Jackson and his gimmick are a one a kind American treasure. I love the idea that he roasts his opponents on the way to the ring while being the working man. He might need to find a better way to finish matches because that diving headbutt is leaving him concussed and not connecting.
Aleksander Bolek is fresh off a loss to Nate Ortiz and failed to recapture the OCW International title last week. Bolek should be angry after losing to the GTGOAT and will look to take out some of that frustration on the rookie box slinger.
My over under for one counts in this match is a firm 10.5 combined between both Steven and Aleksander. Bolek came back from the brink of defeat in the first match securing a victory. The Ace of DNS has had an up and down start to 2025 but I expect him to take advantage here. I also think this match runs about 10 or 11 minutes and not anything crazy like last time.
Prediction - BOLEK GETS A MEASURE OF REVENGE ON STEVEN JACKSON AND WASHES HIS CHAMPIONSHIP LOSSES AWAY.
EXTREME RULES - SAMSIN vs. BASH
