Isn't this just a natural progression of what has happened over the past year? If the belts are trinkets and the person holding them makes them what they are than Turmoil has two mainevent belts, and not by choice, but by victory, and the TV belt his steeped in prestige due to who has held if for the past x amount of days. Whoever wins the TV belt is going to have big shoes to fill, but a very likely outcome is that Ding and Dennis might not lose their belts and down the road merge them anyways, making TV the only midcard belt.

Turmoil has spent the past year and a half devoid of midcarders having the opportunity to run with a title, due to dominance. This will be their first chance to run with this opportunity. And it isn't even an opportunity we asked for, considered, or prepared for. It just happened this way. We have a roster size that certainly helps, but let's not delude ourselves into thinking these are participation trophies, the top two players in OCW hold two of our belts.

What I got from that was pretty much this: Nobody can beat Pem or Denny so we need more title opportunities on Turmoil.

Den & Pem elevated their titles because that’s what good champions do, people need to get to their level plain as day, been that way for what seems like ages.

The current status quo has Turmoil with 4 singles titles anyone can contend for, while Riot has 3 exclusive titles. But in some ways that’s what makes the shoes different and unique besides the console you’re playing on.

It’s going to be interesting to see how things play out as the season progresses and the sizes of each roster changes.

Whats up everyone, I just wanted to chime in with my own opinion/idea. I am respectfully speaking to everyone, but wanted to give you a different POV from a rookie (and def unbiased) standpoint.

I think the great thing about this league is that you all have proven that you can break the mold of how things are done. OCW has its own look, themes, CAWs, content, and CULTURE. I personally feel that as the roster grows, it could be a great idea to add a title or even two. This would give people more incentives to want to stay around, as well as provide a short term goal for a rookie to achieve. Perhaps some stipulations about the Tv Title could be:

1. No Wrestler who has a belt, or has earned a Title Belt higher than it, can contend for it.

2. No Wrestlers with X amount of tenure can contend for it.

3. The belt can only be won in the first year or two of a Wrestler's career.(not a fan of this honestly)

4. Or maybe the matches for it can be based off of the Popular Vote somehow??

Please don't kill me, just trying to find common ground here..

I think that you could distinguish the TV Title belt from the other belts very easily with restrictions. We don't have to mimic every single aspect of real life WWE in this regard.

My last point is that with respect to everyone who has been here from day 1, a new person coming in should not be expected to just wait it out until they can beat the Two wrestlers that nobody else can and/or has beaten---if we are following the ideology behind Fair Play. Most rookies like myself are a hot mess and will never get a shot at Ding or Black. lol

Again, respect to what you guys have built, but it is you all (vets) in fact who have built this rich heritage and unbreakable mold by being different, setting your own pace, and rules.

Lastly, the other alternative is to make a totally different show that's below Turmoil and Riot, for rookies. It would have its own belts and such. This would force newbies to fight their way up into the ranks. Likewise, it could host wrestlers who have fallen from the ranks due to poor performances.

Just throwing suggestions....again respectfully speaking to everyone..

Well, Mix, I can't say your ideas aren't interesting. Can't say I really agree either, though.

- Having the TV title as a segregated title seems, I dunno. Your propositions would probably stop it from being valuable, as it'd end up on people who may just up and quit, and is relatively low-hanging fruit. I like the idea of having a gimmick for the title, like the SMW TV Championship. You had to defend every show but got $1000 every time you did, and if you won five times in a row you surrendered it and got another $5000. Of course you can't really gimmick it like that in a competitive fed, since it'd likely just be traded back and forth constantly and wouldn't mean much. But I do think there is a place for some kind of television-centric gimmick for it, or else what is a TV belt? Just a shitty version of the Int or whatever. It'd be WWE's US title, just a thing that people sometimes have. Maybe a time limit for matches or else they'd be ruled a draw? Like in the old days where you'd get tons of "almost got him" finishes to build for that Wacko Babybladder vs. Slick Dick Jackson match at the Hogpen Invitational.

- Adding to that, I do think less is more in some ways with titles. Think of a mountain range. You have a few, very high peaks, and they stand out. Cresting them is an achievement. You add a bunch of lower ones around them, and they don't look as majestic. Everybody's been on that mountain. It's like Madison, but instead of a peak it's...

Anyhoo, I don't like titles that just get battered back and forth unless that's the intention, like the WWF hardcore belt being an excuse to do dumb funny shit. It's a catch-22: Having someone hold a belt for a long time makes it valuable, but also less attainable. The more attainable it is, the less value people perceive it to have. In the end it's a balancing act, and since we can't really book people to lose here, it's just up to the wrestlers to shape narratives with and around who wins and who doesn't. Lower card titles are hard as hell to do when you can't decide who wins. Like, if I was full control booking this fed, H2O/Baker would have beaten me either in the singles or in the tag. But they didn't, shit happens. It's a consequence of the format that stories may not have a rise and fall as natural as a well-booked real fed, and I can't really think of a way to ostensibly make an "undercard" title that would make the undercard itself any more interesting. We all want to win, and hell yeah, belts feel good. But they feel better the first time, not the 6th. See WCW in its dying years.

- I also don't think rookies should be expected to beat DB. Nor should they expect to grab a new title because the guy who's holding it is too hard to beat. Like I said, that gives it more value, no? But I understand the frustration to come into the fed and be like "I can beat half the people here and the other half just bend me over and squeeze oranges into my anus. Help me." Essentially ya gotta learn to write a character with more defined motivations, or just more personal feuds, than the average real wrestling show. Make your own goal to grab, because there isn't really steady direct progress up the ranks. You get opportunities by being good at what you do, and that ain't necessarily winning. I got a shot at DB's TV title after a record of like 3-5, haha. On real TV you can have guys put on great showings during random title opportunities so you can give that feeling of rising up the ranks, but in OCW it ain't that easy. Giving out random title shots is exciting, but what if the challenger wins? He doesn't have momentum or build, he just has the belt now. And he's gotta be someone you can trust to run with it. I dunno, Jay's job is hard. Probably why he gets the grumpy bumpies. ;)

- A third show? Now that's the real ballsy option. I like the idea, but I'm not sure we really do have enough people--after all, I'm not insulting you, but we have a problem with people just up and leaving. If I was 100% sure y'all were gonna hang around here for the foreseeable future, I'd be all for a sort of "developmental" show or ECW subbrand craziness. But since I can't be sure, what most people I think would fear is a show that has 800 dropped gimmicks and angles because the guys just left. It's like Sid Vicious. He's just gonna leave, stop building that title match dammit! There he goes playing softball again.

I'd like to say I know your ass is staying because you're here writing reviews and giving opinions to grognards, but people do that and THEN leave, after getting over. It's baffling.

- The only idea you have I'd say is categorically bad would be pushing people down to the rookie show as punishment. That is not a good plan. That would generate lots of salt from the vets/regulars who do get put there (and we are very sodium rich here already), and it would change the tone of the show from giving rookies a platform to stand out to "the worse show for the people we don't like." The salty vets would steal the spotlight and probably kick the new people's butts.

I don't really think we need a show for rookies to stand out. I mean, you've already stood out on shows. It ain't easy to write this stuff, man, but it is easy to get people to pay attention to it. You can read? Better than most randoms. You last more than three shows and you're a promising rookie. You keep doing promos and believing in the character you create, and you can be like me: A gigantic xenophobe who relies on a large, sexually aggressive retarded man to injure his enemies. Wait, this is a bad moral...

In summation, I think the belt situation is fine. No perfect balance of titles will fix everything that's broken here. It is a bit hokey that Riot has no generic midcard title, as a title is an easy-bake motivation for a character and can add some spice to feuds needing an extra kick. In the end, though, it's not a damaging blow. If you wanna blow the roof off this unlicensed massage parlor we got going, you can do it without a belt. And blow enough roofs... or people... and you might just get that belt in a better position to use it right than when you started. Or you'll just get buried by someone who looks like an escapee from the mime prison.

At the end of the day can always shift stuff around as needed. Like TV moved from XB1 and PS4.

Worst case can just shift stuff around as needed like last season, nothing is set in stone.

Colt, very well put....I think it’s important that more people chime in so we can get detailed opinions on the situation. I wholeheartedly agree that you can’t trust newbies. It makes it so hard....I hope the resolution that comes about it good for all or atleast the majority....Scratch that, I hope the resolution is good for OCW.....Love it here...#salute
