The "Turmoil Lives Matter" review.

- Although I'm aware this RP was posted out of order with something else they had planned, it's nice to not only see both rookies be active, but establish a feud with someone. It's nice a long too. I still don't know jack about either character, but this could be the beginning of a good start.

- Pretty disappointing that CJ flaked(?). Ricky distancing himself from that would-be feud is a good start. He evens keeps away from too much cliche and aligns himself with the CCW title!

The Last Blacksmith vs Ricky Ragnarath

I am actually shocked at how this one turned out. OCW's most worked in Season 13 got off to a relatively slow start against TLBS and it showed. I am guilty of thinking most flippy guys (such as these two) don't have too many moves to separate themselves from each other, but TLBS' finisher does it for me. Maybe it's the close up on his face paint, but it works enough. He gets a big win and hopefully rides off this momentum.

- Ashley Moore has also done a nice job being active this season. I know the popular narrative is that rookies aren't working, but Ashley has a presence on each show and it makes me want to see another Ashley Moore match. Get the fuck on it, bookerman!

Manuel's introduction is well done in a collab effort. He seems to steal the show, writing wise from Ashley in terms of quality. I don't know for sure who is handling Manuel, but maybe not knowing is better for the sake of being unbiased.

Damian Bourne vs Leroi Daniels

Damian's new look/entrance on the past 2 shows is super different, but at least he's making an effort to establish who he is. Need more RP before I can make that call, but the serious look? It is a big 180 from the wacky DX entrance we saw before from Bournistico. I dig it.

Leroi crapples very early in the match, but I can't recall any other issues other than that. Damian handled this easily early, but Leroi DID make a comeback, including a few pretty fun spots in the untied turnbuckle corner. A little long, ultimately though, Damian shows once again how skilled he is by capitalizing with MY finisher. *wink*.

Double props for the fancy camera work on the finish. Fun match.

- Mistico is... surprisingly easy to work with. TTT BITCHES

Mistico vs ???? (Quartz)

Was excited to end this pussy's 5-0 winning streak on his home turf, but it wasn't meant to be. Mistico is a very fun match. Not sure what others thought about it, but I felt it very brief, watchable and included a little Damian interaction with a fancy FIN reversal finish. Thanks for that Mistico.

- Valk's ability to move from serious to comedic comes back here... I never thought I'd be in this position though... This RP feels random and out of place to me. It's probably the first Valk RP I haven't legit popped at and it's "meh". Like I said in Discord though... Representation > Nothing

- The Cort/Shep angle continues. I am glad they made up, although it was tense at one point. Had potential for a big revenge angle. Shep has plenty of reason to be pissed but I am jacked to see "Shep" find his voice this season. Makes AWOL infinitely more interesting.

Code Jackman vs Benji Moore

Fun match all-around. There is no real buildup but that's okay. What is not okay is Benji being totally lazy and doing no character development. I don't know if he's a face or heel or why he wears that coat or anything.

No big FPR stuff that I noticed. The finish was super cool though, Benji accidentally fell directly into the finisher. It looked natural and legit.

- While I wish there was more of it, one of the best angles so far this season has been Jehst/Archer. The last two weeks of this angle has been... racy? I'm in that perfect medium between super uncomfortable and intrigued with the Elsa thing. I like her character a lot and thanks to Jehst's investment so far this season, Thomas Archer's exploitation of her has created this perfect hatred towards the character. TLC!!!! Great work by both handlers. Valk/Heather is my #1 most hype angle of DN and this is easily #2.

- I commented on the excellent work of Drago in my Riot review, but I feel FloJo needs recognition. I absolutely HATED her direction last season and she's really turned it around... Outside of that super weird, vulgar and out of place Turmoil 214 RP with Jackman, FloJo has been able to maintain interest in her character... at least from my perspective. It's VERY possible this is due to Drago's awesome writing ability and skills that carry Flojo. To be honest, her next angle is going to tell that story.... GO DRAGANA!

Wrex vs Nic Betamax

I haven't really fallen in love with Betamax to tell you the truth. He's more of an auxiliary character used to put over Wrex in this one... Wrex shows his colors and dominates start to finish. I said it weeks ago when it started, but I do think Wrex mental warfare entrance... copying Austin Lee is one of the most underrated parts of any angle this season!

- P3 make me shake in my boots thinking about having to overcome 2 resiliency backpays + a pin breakup. They are able to maintain a strong level of threat while also being fun and wacky.

P3 vs AWOL

Finally get to see P3 in action against talented players... Fucking scary. P3 has control for most of the match... espcially with Drago in the ring. The match seems to be leading to a P3 victory... before yours truly decides to break that shit up. I love video content in anyway I get it and context can always differentiate between similar cutscenes. CQC/P3 is so heated right now. Wont comment on my own PPV hype but.. I'm very excited to share the ring with two legends (and kick the shit out of both of them.)

SHEP!!!! SHEP!!! SHEP!!! So excited to see this formulate into a rivalry finally. Shep has not only found his voice since the season started, but has developed this twisted, heel personality that I really dig. I cannot imagine how this is going to develop next week. This twisted patriot thing who is carrying the belt is still at the top of my boards... Not sure if they're fighting at DN, but either way. I look forward to a long a brutal feud!

Following up from writing up my notes from Riot, thought I'd write up my Turmoil notes as well to keep myself up to date.

1. Glad to see Bourne opening the show. FINALLY, something to latch onto with his character. Bourne is quite clearly here being presented as a heel up until Mistico is mentioned, when he gets cheers for being his friend. This could be a really interesting dynamic between you two, I saw you using the Team Hell No and The Bar's old victory motion to put this idea across, but if I were you I'd start writing up RPs explicitly mentioning that this is how the fans view you both. It could lead to some interesting moments, off the top of my head I can think of a moment where Bourne wants to use a chair to attack someone while the ref is done or after a match and Mistico stops him, but I digress. Anyway, keep up the consistent RPs and this impending feud with TLBS could be a good start for you.

2. Just being honest here, I was kind of bummed to see that a diss track on Heather Angelo is where you wanted to go with this feud. The angle from last week was so killer and while this was genuinely well written and entertaining, I think there has to be a line where I'd want to keep it serious for this one. Think of it this way: Valk has been kidnapped, tortured and is constantly being hounded by Heather and just as the rivalry is reaching boiling point she writes a diss track with Eminem??? Idk, this was entertaining to read but I just feel a bit inappropriate for the story being told. I am still really looking forward to the match though and I'm sure Valk and Heather will knock it out of the park.

3. Great bit of character progression here for Shep. AWOL seem to have made up, but is that a bit of arrogance coming from Shep? That was something I picked up upon re-reading this bit, Cort and Shep are about to step into the ring with MURDERERS and he's calling them overrated? I really loved this bit on second reading, very nice and subtle character pieces.

4. Benji needs to do more. Like his look, but we need some character! The same could be said for a good few rookies on Turmoil. My advice, as useless as it sounds, is literally just write. Get into contact with each other and just get something down where you can all progress your characters a little bit. It lets everyone know you're still around and can help give you inspiration when you need to write again. 'Oh, I said this to this guy and he didn't like it? Next time we speak, we definitely won't get along!', little bits like that give your character progression and continuity and helps you build up your world around your character. That's my two cents.

5. I am most excited to see Jehst vs Archer 2. This segment was in equal parts creepy and hilarious and really built up the tension for these two to fight even past boiling point. I felt that this perfectly towed the line to where it was not too inappropriate and explicit considering the main topic of the segment, while also building up the audience's hatred towards Archer and eagerness to see him get smacked in the mouth, and in turn the love for Jehst and us wanting him to be the one who does it. I love the angle of them not being able to touch each other until Devil's Night where they will have a TLC match. Also, it made you feel REALLY bad for Elsa, and now I can't wait for her to return and sock someone in the jaw for being humiliated like that. This was absolutely brilliant and I feel it was worth making sure this doesn't go under the radar, well done to both of you and also Jae for making a hilarious cameo appearance.

6. AWOL are no more. I saw this coming as much as I was shocked to see this happen. I really hope we get to see a psychotic Shepherd with an undying will to blitz his opponents with knees and other brutal strikes until they pass out, and refusing to answer to Cort as to why he'd betray his best friend. On a real note, I'm sad to see them split because they were really enjoyable to face when we did, but on a happy note it gives myself and Ant more motivation to step up and try to fill that AWOL-sized gap while we gain experience as a team. Although, AWOL splitting does emphasise how small the Riot tag division is getting. We need more real teams dammit!

Overall, this show was solid but nothing particularly crazy, except towards the end of the show where in my opinion things really picked up.

Overall Grade: 7/10
