Proving Grounds

[theSolomonCaine]

The camera opens with a shot of the CCW International Championship belt resting flat on a small metal table, partially draping over the side. In the background, sounds of constant muffled impact, heavy breathing, and chains rattling punctuate the air. After a few moments, the sounds stop. From the right side, Solomon Caine walks into the frame sporting a grey t-shirt and basketball shorts covered in a moderate amount of sweat.

 

Solomon Caine: They always ask, does the man make the championship, or does the championship make the man?

 

Caine picks up the title and drapes it over his right shoulder. As he continues walking through the gym, the camera follows.

 

Solomon Caine: Always circumstance, isn't it? I lost match, after match, after match, after match, and yet here I am.

 

Caine looks over his left shoulder at the camera.

 

Solomon Caine: The International Champion.

 

Caine turns around and keeps walking.

 

Solomon Caine: I think I'd be lying if I said it was all circumstance though. I mean, I didn't hit two Killshots on Blacksmith for nothing, aye? I mean, maybe, and this is just a maybe, when it comes down to brass tacks, I'm just that damn good.

 

Caine briefly laughs.

 

Solomon Caine: Maybe that's why Archer is so afraid that he had to try and take me out at September 2 Remember. Maybe that's why Archer had to ask management for a 2 out of 3 falls match at Devil's Night rather than just one go at it.

 

Caine and the camera arrive at a wooden table surrounded by a few plastic chairs. He pulls out a chair and takes a seat, while the camera remains at standing level.

 

Solomon Caine: You know what I say? Fine with me. I have no trouble beating Archer twice, and removing any doubt that this...

 

Caine points at the championship on his shoulder.

 

Solomon Caine: ...is my championship. No triple threat. No weapons. No games. Mono e mono, in the center of the ring.

 

Caine stands and looks directly into the camera while pushing the championship towards it.

 

Solomon Caine: I'll mint this championship with my fists... twice.

 

Caine places the championship back on his right shoulder and walks off as the camera fades to black.
