Again i dont have the game, so i can only look at it from a spectators standpoint, but cant you just limit them and make someone finish the match off a finisher? I mean it really really looks like ass ending the match off a headbutt.

I tried pushing for this a long time ago, we see how well that's caught on.

This is a problem with the current state of 2011/2010.

If we make it all about a finisher, and finishers are death, people shift towards easy to hit finishers and the drama is gone. Kickouts were rare in old games but when they did happen it was OH FUCK HOLY SHIT. We gave people free reign on pinning off normal moves, and we get crappy endings cause not everyone is wise to it all.

Making it about the finisher and making finishers death may be where we need to go. My beef with that, is the match becomes a finisher race then. Which is also lame, and we have a lot of matches where people simply won't get finishers and fight forever without an advantage.

My current train of thought for the rule is this, although I find it flawed cause it's still a 'finisher race':

You can win with Sigs and Finishers.

1) When hit with a sig, you're allowed to try to kick out.

2) When hit with a finisher, you're done.

I don't particularly like it, but goddamn this is a lot of bullshit and we're full of unethical types. We tried relative freedom and looks like we're going to have to reign it in. I would prefer the match be about the ability to end the match instead of the ability to kick out of EVERYTHING. a Finisher=Death rule also has the edge of killing the impact of a Submission finisher. In this case, I think I would ban Signatures from being Sub moves.

It's just the matter of those eternal matches where no one gets momentum...

An added note: This is why the DRR rule was awesome. Was less a finisher race(although those games were finisher=death), it made it about who could control the match and dominate it enough, and it was about reversal skill. Main weakness it was predictable, but in 90% of cases, the better player won.

I like this.

I watched like three matches and was like "WTF". Im sorry, but i would rather lose and have peopel say "WOW what a fuckin back and forth match." than win, and people question my ethics

I disagree with this finisher = death aspect.

This is the issue I feel the strongest on. Absolutely to the core of my beliefs on fpr.

Kicking out of a finisher is damn hard now. I cannot mash out of it any more so anyone who can deserves respect.

This season I've had 2 people kick out of my finishers and everyone else has just died.

Just make it so we need a signature or finisher as the ending.

It makes matches drag a bit but stops shit finishes.

People just need to not end on shit. I feel the powerbomb worked because as Parker said, it's impactful. Another point being is that I used to have a powerbomb as a finisher, now it's turned into a regular move for a situation like that. Granted, it's not the greatest ending on earth, but what else do you expect from a 4 way? I really didn't want to see this match drag on to the point of clusterfuckdom. The diving headbutt finish, although hilarious, in any circumstance would be stupid. Hazard deserved to get embarrassed like that though because of his stupidity in the beginning of the match. It all depends on perspective, I look at both endings as an ironic swerve. Plus, it breaks the monotony of generic finishes, and starts discussion as such.

I think one thing that would take the focus off of match endings would be for people to RP more. I know it's not mandatory anymore (although I think it should be, but I understand why it's not), it adds pizazz to the shows. Going through and seeing so many matches get done is nice, but as Smythe and AA said, people need to submit CONTENT, not just matches. More content would have made this show look great, even if it's just Hazard juggling oranges in the rafters while wearing a tutu, it adds to the ENTERTAINMENT value, something we should be trying to put in and take away from what OCW is based on.

I agree

If anything I liked the kickout limit that Aries proposed.

What I really dont like is every one spamming pick ups, and using the strike combo when someone has a sig. That is fucking cheesy! Consider that if someone rushed you with a running move when you have a sig. The strikes combo just eradicates momentum.

It sets a prime example of another reason why we had tylering banned.

But here is the problem. The reason the ban on tylering has been lifted is because of the stupid Tap A thing when two people go for a grapple at once. The Tap A thing is stupid because it has nothing to do with skill, it's pointless. It's like comparing how fast someone can give a hand job compared to another, when the real skill is the ABILITY to give the hand job, AKA the ability to reverse. Sorry to use such a graphic metaphor, but you get the point.
