Everyone makes good points. But the kicker is back in the day, When OCW should have closed (lol) The greatest matches weren't scripted AJ vs Nate when they did that super reversal combination, that was pure talent. Nate was regarded as the best because of his skill in the game period. His skill Transcended into great matches because the level of competition went up and that led to dramatic matches.
What im getting is the need to have a pretty match over the need to have a match in the sense of competition. What I actually prefer is a solid competitive match because it actually turns out to be a good match when both people are giving it there all.
As far as spots go, I like them, but they are the best when pulled off with skill, as opposed to, (OK Doug stand there I am going to hit my gogoplata into a plancha!) No thats kind of lame, best example from the past I can give is The Steve had some kind of turnbuckle drop kick spot that he would always hit, When I fought him he hit the 1st and 2nd, when he went for the 3rd I was quicker (thank christ) and knocked The Steve out of the Steve.
I get both sides, but at the end of the day, I want to see comp, if a finish is scripted or redone for the sake of making it look better (The 20 second Nick Retirement Tapout comes to mind) that's great. But I really, truly don't like doling out goodies all the time for the sake of stories I want my champs to actually be champions, not paper champs, Best example Ryder I gave him a shot, and when real comp showed up he folded quicker than a food stamp in Mez Murdocks pocket.
All I can say is stop being faggots!
