Michael Morrison Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 PAGE: 1 Late Late Laaaaaate Night with Mugen and Drago The P3 intro --in the form of a late-night Talk Show-- reminded me of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. It had it’s funny moments (#brazzers), but in written form, it can be very weird and confusing. When you put enough weird in a sentence, the brain makes you read it again, so 2 paragraphs can easily feel like 4 paragraphs. The mind can handle a good amount of “weird”, especially these days, but there has to be enough “normal” tossed in to make it coherent… otherwise, you’d feel like you’re slipping into madness. It’s like knowing a little bit of Spanish and then someone starts talking mucho Spanglish: If they speak more Spanish than English, you just give up even trying to understand. Instead of having one long RP in the intro, I would have suggested shorter clips, scattered across the show, so you get quick bits of weird, and then back to the show. Introduce Jay >>> Back to PPV Pink and Gold Hats >>> Back to PPV Gorilla desk >>> Back to PPV Scooby Doo Ending >>> Back to PPV. None the less, we got an example of what to expect from the Platinum Platonic Partners (P3) and I'm still on board for more. Every organization needs a bit of weird to break up the norm. Flying Through This World All Alone Lucas Crowe gives us a brief history of his career while metamorphosizing and sharing his thoughts on the “Anime Snowflakes” covering the Old-Country-Way with a blanket of emotional sensitivity. Although he’s taken many a superstar under his wing, he’s come to the realization that people, in general, sucketh. No longer will he be part of any group that allows the deforestation of his once beloved land. If there is no country left for this "old man", then he’ll become a Nomad and fly above it all. Dawning a new (SoA) look, and representing colors of the “Dead Crows MC”, Nomad is born from the ashes of the past. Speaking of ashes, I feel like I may have taken some fire from Crowe’s transformation into Nomad with my Showcase review, as I pointed out his Roster image… and for that, I apologize. As for the RP itself, I applaud what Crowe/Nomad did here. There was a lot of metaphor and symbolism that I feel were lost on some people. Just as Crowe changes his appearance through the entire RP, the RP itself is also about change. The use of biker lingo and the nature references, it all just fits and feels cohesive. It could have simply been a coincidence, but still, I enjoy subtle touches. I also feel like this is meant to spark something in OCW, as a nomad is typically a loner but an MC consists of members, so perhaps others will join the Old-Country-Way? Will we have our own variation of The Lone Rangers? Also, I feel like Nomad gives more of a Native American vibe, as opposed to Mexican. I know there were comments about it during the broadcast on TWITCH. 10

Cort Marshall Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 NOTES! - New OCW talk show? With actual handlers instead of NPC Stacy Clarke? Me like. Make sure to add a conveniently-placed glass window… Hilarious RP. Especially the gorilla bit, which is funny without knowing the reference. - Lucas Crowe becomes Bikertaker. Don’t know much about this guy (sue me) but all these jabs at the new guard... gonna be a running theme this PPV. - I get it now. Quartz is an evangelion mark. That explains everything. - Nice detail with the “supposedly backstage” joke in the Ryu/Kass RP. Sometimes it does feel like OCW arenas make use of impossible space. Real men are into nipple play though. - “Feral crumbsnatchers” is a great way to describe kids. I don’t like kids. They’re sticky. Valk tries her best as usual, though I must argue with her being supposedly the only family friendly star in OCW… Ricky’s a nice normal guy! Just don’t try his moves at home. H2O is RVD minus the weed so he’s fine for the kids. And Cort is just the best role model you could ever ask for. - Damian turns face by getting cheeto dust on Dillinger’s suit. - Flojo with the reference to the OUTLANDS. It’s true. If you join a new fed and the first thing you say is “X fed held me down,” you’re probably trash. And not the OCW kind of trash. Good promo overall, a definite step up for Flojo. “Demented albino autistic ape” is hilarious, and the comment about Kass wanting to fuck himself is quite… accurate. - Fiery… babyface promo from Harvey, even though everyone boos him. It's ok, they just hate us (non) Canadians. Needs a last run through the proofread-o-matic though. - Michael J. Fox is coming to OCW! Cool! - Watched a bit of the H2O/Nomad match. All I gotta say is that someone calla doctor, because H2O has whiff-itis. Nice attire though. - If Quartz has a third personality named “Intell,” does that mean he has… - Ain’t gonna say shit about our match but I love the way their tron shatters to reveal the ent. Okay maybe I will say one thing about the match. If a man is in the middle of a cool move at least let it happen. - Popped for “you were doing what with kids?” I do feel like Dillinger should have had more of a run against Tayy, as owning someone’s merch rights and stuff and taking money they earn is a real great heel gimmick. If you extend it quite a while then the final payoff will be as juicy as a splooge at the end of no nut november. Having him get his dues this early will just make us feel bad, as he's effectively had a heel run on Tayy for like one promo. - Capo looking completely different for the 3rd time, and a voiced promo! Advice for next time: voice volume up, gain down, crowd noise up. His written promo comes off much better than the Jay read one as it simulates the crowd being into it, Jay’s needs some pauses for reactions and intensity. Oh and another promo talking shit about the new kids on the block. Grizzled young vet over here. - Wrex in the Kumite: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2-7AdSkZA7I/RqpN8Z2bhKI/AAAAAAAAJWE/YHKmXtThXxw/s400/TankAbbott-wcw.jpg - Nice little segment with Aerith and Dragana ahead of their title match. Maybe going to a haunted house is a bad idea if your first reaction to being scared is to try and break their back. Just sayin'. - TTT’s theme is fucking dope, Kass has a great attire and Ryu is wearing a… rug? Dead bear? And P3 have vaporwave eurobeat. Nice. - FUCK THAT GUY IN THE CROWD WHO YELLS “HIGHER," THAT DOESN’T EVEN MAKE SENSE. - Great ents from both teams. P3 are lovably obnoxious. - All this hullabaloo from Quartz about how Inness is face and Isuzu comes back and they join with TTT to make a stable. You sons of guns. Obviously not happy about losing the titles but it makes for a great moment with an all gold faction. - Cum in tea, eh. Only thing better is… urine in beer? No wait that’s just beer. Makes me think about what I said earlier. Like him getting rekt is satisfying and all but he hasn’t really had the time to fully live out his heelish ways. Still great writing and one of many RPs on the show by our favorite fragile madden player. But isn’t that all madden players? - Great RP from Jackson. If I was an OCW fan though I'd be shitting my pants in anger for how long the not!money in the bank has laid dormant. He better cash in on a big moment. - Did Minio take a pill in Ibiza? Or slam the whole bottle? Either way I'm not sure sensation has the funds for this massive bender. I mean I'm typing this on a forum held together by monkey spit and dreams. - Not sure how I feel about Bray’s look being "The Margarine Dream." Good theme at least. He needs to fix his orange face but Ace’s attire looks good. Interesting idea with an unsanctioned title a la the million dollar belt, to hopefully force weird stips on anyone who wants to challenge for it. Like anyone who fights for it has to be in cosplay or something embarrassing. - Great stuff from Jesht and Archer, who as far as I know doesn’t even use a bow. Like I said this is the feud I’m most into right now, the classic piece of shit boss controlling the loveable underdog. One day he’s gonna get an Oscar to the noggin! Like what I said about Dillinger getting his comeuppance, this will be an amazing moment when Archer finally does. I trust Jehst and Yakub Trans to find the right moment to pull the trigger. - Good, threatening promo by Telos. This is how you do a scary rookie promo. Partially because he can back it up, partially because he isn't a satanist like everyone else around here. - Ah, so maybe this is where Dennis' heel run really starts, as the coward "boss" of a monster heel? I still think it'd be better to have run a full thing between Tayy and Dennis, but maybe that can still happen with Dennis using the new guy to get revenge on Tayy. - Good show RP wise; as for matches, well, you know I don't watch those all the time. Kumite was cool. Maybe I’ll watch sometime later but this is long as fuck as-is. I’m dissatisfied with my own promo work this round, was really reaching for ideas. Hard to promo too many times about the same people, haha. Will have something meatier next week. 8
Bray Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 - Not sure how I feel about Bray’s look being "The Margarine Dream." sigh "It's like the number zero...It's empty, but at the same time it holds infinite possibilities." - Igor
Michael Morrison Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 PAGE: 2 Disgraced, But I Manage I’m not familiar with the backstory, but from what I can gather: Dennis Dillinger once managed Tayy Briezee and deceived him in some form or fashion, which left Dillinger disgraced. We learn that Dillinger is still in the management game and has a new, mystery client… a client who is very interested in the location of the aforementioned Briezee. There's brief talk of an agreement that was made and the deflection of one Mr. Sensation, but no details on how it all ties together. None the less, I have a feeling we’ll find out soon enough... as will Tayy-to-the-Briezee. It Was All a Dream, I Used To Read Tag-Team Magazine Quartz experiences a lovely daydream sequence, where familiar faces of OCW's past and present --including Mr. Sensation and yours truly-- gather together, like the final episode of LOST. Actually, I can’t say for sure if it was a dream… or if Quartz has a tumor in that bizarre brain of his. Either way, his partner (Rust Cohle) snaps him out of the mesmerizing marriage at the last second. I enjoyed this RP quite a bit. Just like someone stuck in the FRIENDZONE: it has a lot of nice qualities but doesn’t f*** you. Admittedly, I was a bit confused at first, but quickly realized where it was heading, as I was reminded of similar dream sequences: Raising Arizona, Dumb & Dumber, American Beauty, Fast Times. It’s a popular trope, but can be a fun and successful method of diving into a character's psyche... revealing their secret fears and desires. In this case, I think the job was done fairly well. Stop Playing With The Space-Time Continuum... and My Nipples Ryu Matsumoto (aka The Scarlet Spider, aka Ligermask) who is also Kassidy’s daddy (in another universe?) is surrounded by scantily clad women… who may or may not be his daughters; yet, they don’t seem to mind groping his chest? I can't tell if Ryu was brought to Kassidy against his will, or if he willingly stopped by to borrow some brown sugar and things quickly escalated in the wrong direction. Obviously, I’m out of the loop when it comes to backstory but that doesn’t make it any less intriguing. You got multiverses, multiple identities, family power struggles, rhythmic chanting, nipple play, the promise of 24/7 parties, naughty nuns and vampires. It’s like a wet dream had a wet dream. In the end, Ryu and Kass reach some kind of understanding... an understanding that just might end all of existence… or decency… or both. 6
Justin Jehst Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 RUDO’s 14 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW TOP TEN TAKEAWAYS: So I started writing a full show review for this and got about half way before realising I was never going to be able to catch up before RIOT was posted, and I was right. So I scrapped it all and decided I’m going to stick to these top ten takeaway lists instead so save me form burning out. I’ll probably switch back to full show reviews when content isn’t so plentiful for RIOT/Turmoil. So without further ado, in no particular order, here are my top ten takeaways from the Anniversary show: 1) The OCW Title picture/landscape has completely changed now that Nomad has come OUTTA NOWHERE and beat H2O for the right to face off with Kass for the title. The little face off at the end of the Spider match was great to build that up. 2) There is no lack of talent this season. From top to bottom of both rosters I think there is no shortage of capable people on the sticks, which means the title picture for every single championship could be vastly different now and at the end of the season. I think there will be a few people who will surprise us with upsets this year. 3) Jake was all over this show. I think he submitted half the RP’s? Jokes aside, both Dillinger and Quartz are interesting characters in their own way and I’m excited to see how they both develop over the season. Grats on the title retainment. 4) Draven is for real. Beating Trance on OCW Live and now beating B-17 on the Anni show just goes to show that this cat is ready for the ME scene. Just need more RP’s to develop that character. And yeah, I gotta fix that face texture for ya man, didn’t realise how light it was in the centre. 5) P3 are entertaining as fuck; goofy, but entertaining. I also think these two are set to be a dominant team on RIOT, no doubt, given their stick skills. 6) The only rookie from the fresh group I saw make any effort for this show was Xander Knight, so hats off for taking the initiative to put something together (apologies if any of you other rookies did something, I just don’t remember it). 7) Capo is back! Good to have this damn meatball back in OCW, great timing for a return promo and I’m excited to see what he’ll do over the next while. 8) TTT are now even stronger with the addition of CQC. Could this be a stable that reigns dominant for the entire season? With RIOT’s tag division changing it’ll be interesting to see how long CQC can hold those belts for. And with Nomad now gunning for Kass, that’ll be another match to watch for sure. TTT championship-less after next PPV? FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON DRAGONBALL Z!!!! 9) Not as many people submitted RP’s as I thought might seeing as it’s the opening show of the season. Kinda disappointing but ya can’t make people write I guess. Even so, there was plenty of quality content to read through. 10) Everyone’s CAW’s are looking pretty good. With good looking CAW’s comes a better overall product presentation. I think the focus on attire at the tail end of last season has pushed people to be more creative and focused with it which is great to see. So, overall a great show to open the season. Plenty of angles carrying over from last season or beginning to brew. Matches weren’t overly long which was good, and most of them told a good story as well. MOTN: For me it was KD vs. Doc Green. The story of David vs. Goliath was always front and centre, with Doc needing multiple shots at KD to have him go down. This was super competitive and Doc almost pulled it out but unfortunately for him he just came up short to the beast. RPOTN: There were a lot of great RP’s on this show but I had to go to Quartz for that incredibly vivid RP exploring his mind and the multiple personalities that inhabit it. Great writing and intriguing story telling. 11 My image don't load no mo so fuck it.
