Turmoil 265: The Rookening!

I'll say what I said to Jay about this show -

 

It wasn't up to OCW standards at all, but I know we'll fix that with just two shows left into Lution.

 

It was carried by the segments, including Valk's amazing work on the breaking news shot, Mac's awesome promo, Colin's seed planting and universe building, Marisa, Kass' interactions with Cobra (very lol), and the continued jabs at Sesnation. I didn't notice initially, but this show was very FI heavy, which is not a bad thing, this Lution is going to have the craziest FI matches ever.

Overall I can’t say it was a bad show. There are some really great RPs and some interesting matches. There was a lot of good that can easily get looked over, one, and this is probably the only I’m going to point out since everyone has pretty much reviewed the videos and RPs, I just want to really say that I love the Dynamic between Lucha Country. Week after week their promos are so much fun I look fwd each show to see what they say and so. Reese is funny and Parca just the same. You can tell these two really are an all around tag team and solo competitors as well as the good RPs weekly. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

 

Marissa Marissa. My girlfriend walked in on that promo and acted disgusted hahaha was a great RL moment to add to the turbo thots promo. Made her laugh so I would say goal achieved when someone who doesn’t play or really watch anything related enjoyed the promo.

 

I’m jumpin around here but the main event was solid. All those missed finishers into a finish was dope. Very entertaining match, I really liked Kass’s attire. Great color scheme and that logo on the legs was so so dope. It still reminds me of old people candy but it looks great. The match was great I thought Danny had him. He had Kass in orange before he even lost the half the green bar. Great comeback win.

 

Cort and H2O did exactly what they needed to do. I thought it was a good match. Both handlers are great players and made the match entertaining as we got past some of the earlier shenanigans.

 

Not so much mad about JC interfering, if WC is gonna be heel might as well be heel. But it is frowned heavily on and can see how it would piss a lot of people off, however as a heel it’s good work, but I’m a mark for good Heel work. It is more realistic but again, it’s that damn handbook and FPR won’t let us run amuck Like the savages we truly are.

 

The Rust and Cort Promo was really good they both did a really good job over The past few weeks of not making it obvious who the masked man was. But again you’re putting two of some of the more accomplished and would say dependable Handlers to go out and do what needs to be done properly. I really enjoy working with them.

 

That Valk video was probably my favorite, really makes me want to see that match! I can’t say enough how talented And creative Valk is, I swear I never stop being amazed at what some of you can do so easily with the creative content, seeing things I wish I could do, loved it.

 

I enjoyed the Purple Lotus/Sue Plex match in between all the freezing and skipping about. Would like to see a rematch with better internet.

 

Thanks you to all who put this show together the Staff/booking/and production for putting this all together even though it may not shine as our best episode we had some good stuff if I left anyone out I’m sorry, I still liked the show.

Few thoughts on my standout bits;

 

 

Main Event ending, I was disappointed, the match itself had some great dynamics to it, Danny was winning resets and looked dominant, but Kass had the mental edge throughout and would've carried that to a win if the internet hadn't been dreadful. My issue with the finish isn't entirely the no contest part, it was more Kass looked a bit stupid getting distracted by someone walking around when Danny was ready to deck him. It's stupid in WWE, and I'm interested to see how they RP their way out of this one without completely ignoring the distraction finish. I'll be keeping an eye on what gets written, I'm very ready to be wrong.

 

 

Rookie debuts looked pretty promising, but above all, I wish I could see more of Jerome, those dances were fun as hell. Chris vs Chris was a victim of stuff that couldn't be helped, it was nice seeing TWC Chris getting some singles time, the haircut popped me, and I really wanna see John do a story where he's trying hard to not have a barber gimmick, it was one of my favourite bits, truth be told.

 

 

I loved Valk's video. Honestly, in my head, OCW exists in a universe where wrestling is real, and it is one of the most important things in the world. Archer has a business Empire, Parca's action figures are going unsold at Toys R Us, the smarks are moaning that Colin is overpushed, and Terra and Valk fighting in the streets is top tier breaking news. Great stuff.

 

 

There's some really strong writing on this show, give it a read if you were down on the videos like a fair few of us were. I'd love to do a 'my favourite RP' thing in these reviews, but, honestly, I can't decide between Everett and B17 and Rust/Cort, especially with Iceman's video being a part of that. Hope I get to write with some of these guys at one point, it's great stuff, genuinely.
