Michael Morrison Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 While doing the LotR, it was easy to see how annoyed people were of the "In-Grapple Punching". Although most did not abuse it, there were still a good amount of times that someone would hit three strikes in a row just to break the hold. You could also tell by how more and more people were using the "dragging method" or "I got yo back now, sucka" technique. Also, it caused some people to lose out on reverse fest. For Example: Morrison grabs Trips Trips Punches Morrison and reverses Grapple Morrison Punches Trips and reverses Grapple Trips punches Morrison and hold is broken before he can attempt a move. No matter who throws the punches/knees, once it reaches 3 strikes, the hold is broken.
Majin Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 what do you mean by brawlers can use their punch abilities ? and personally, i dont care for this rule. {and im not bitching or complaining. ill play by it if its a rule.} but IMO, the strike in grapple just adds realism to the match. it actually looks like youre trying to fight out of it, instead of both of you just standing there dancing until the opponent decides to do a move. i think we should limit it to only 2 strikes while in grapple. {so that you cant punch your way out of the grapple.} but not just ban it all together. i mean jesus, all the tech whores out there {and yes, i have ideas of who were the ones doing the bitching.} who basically get free strong grapples off the bat, and get auto escape from EVERY style until they turn yellow, and people are bitching about punching in grapple ? is it not fair to you techs that people can punch you while you basically get your free 5 mins of free strong grapples off ? poor little things. lol or what about the tech whores that constantly do the run and duck under ? and people complain about being punched while in grapple ? or the lame ass cheesey highflyers who constantly roll around the ring and call it 'strategy' ? but yet, people complain about being punched in a grapple ? lol and i dont get why everyones bitching about pulling your opponent around the ring while grappled. watch any match from 06 to now, and that has always happened. its not just something new that started with 08. its called 'SURPRISE' ! if youre moving, they dont know when youre going to hit it. i mean heaven forbid you try and actually surprise your opponent when you try and pull off your move. from now on, would people just like for me {cause yes, i am someone who drags their opponent around the ring. and no, i wont stop just because im not getting punched. whoever thinks that the dragging will 'go away' just because people arent punching in grapple apparently just dont understand the concept behind it.} to stand in 1 spot while im grappled and give you a quick heads up before i decide to try and hit my move ? would that make things any easier on some of you ? cause lord knows we wouldnt want some people to have to actually think while they play the game. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/wikedklown/majinocfsig.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/wikedklown/hollywoodexpress3.jpg
The Steve Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 No punching in grapple? When was this discussion? Sensation: "I'm an ignorant hispanic."
Josiah Cross Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 read in confirmed. I also agree with Blake, I'm not sure punching should have been completely banned. Two max prevents any grapple break ups but also gives people a choice to not just button mash the RT button but to punch as on option as well. Also it give the techs a major advantage. I think it should have been limited not banned. THE DEAN http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i41/bombsquad07/barb.jpg

What he said ^^^ I have a huge problem with the high flyers who roll when you do a reversal on them, just to get away. I also have a hgue problem with the tech guys who abuse that duck and under. If the in-grapple punches are taken away, then FPR should look at tech guys, and high flyers EDIT: Why cant we punch out of grapples until their at least yellow like tech guys. I think this sets a huge disadvantage to anyone that isnt a high flyer, and tech Dane Xavier: cyber bullying is not only illegal, it's pathetic "I swear to go if you call me a Liberal again you RETHUGLICAN, SEE WHAT I DID THERE. Brad Bauer Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 FPR has been pressing me to change my perks from Tech/Showman to showman/Tech. I've basically said no because the showman perk is pure shit. And I'm catching heat for it. I think rules should be discussed more in depth with the community rather than 2-4 people making decisions and forcing them upon us. As far as perks go, I can understand FPR advising on which two perks should be used in some cases, particularly to rookies. But to tell somebody what they have to use first and second is just not acceptable to me. Especially since i've never abused my tech perk...EVER. It also pisses me off that RAMPAGE no selling finishers is still acceptable. Two of the FPR guys use this perk, and it seems a bit biased that the no-sell issue has been swept under the rug.
Michael Morrison Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 The two punch limit sounds good. As for the "dragging method", I never said that people shouldn't drag their opponents, although I don't see it as a way to throw people off either, as it's not like people wait for something to trigger a counter attempt. If you're waiting for your opponent to flinch and then hit the counter button, guess what, you're too late. Yes, people dragged their opponents around before and some even used it as a form of positioning so their moves were more appropriate. You don't want to suplex someone and have their legs hit the ropes like there was an invisible wall in front of it. Before I returned to "the ring", I figured that's why people started to drag their opponents again. However, when I started playing people online, I found out it was just a way to prolong the grapple, as people can't strike as quickly while being dragged around. Strategy? Yeah, but do you really want to make the matches last even longer because everyone has to drag their opponents around after every grapple and turn something that should lasts 3-5 seconds, last twice as long? If you think the method of just standing there for a few seconds before hitting a move looks funny, try watching a guy drag his opponent around, getting punched, dragging him some more, getting punched and then a move. Some might ask why is he just dragging him around and letting himself get punched in the gut over and over. You do make a good point about other abuses, such as the roll and tech problems, so I hope you continue to argue your case on that and perhaps FPR will consider your "Two Punch Limit" as I do think it could work. When it comes to In-Grapple Punching, I can take it or leave it, as I tend to just go with what ever FPR decides. However, It's good that someone is standing up for those who want to keep the In-Grapple Punching, because people should always fight for what they want and voice their opinion. Debate is a beautiful thing, my friends. Fight the power.
Leon Valentine Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I personally like it, played Tyro, and Nate a couple of months back without punches. It stops the constant dragging and makes matches look a lot better imo. As for the tech thing i don't really see that a big issue since a lot of people don't rely on strong grapples anymore anyway. The high flying systems just crap, i stopped using Spears because i can't stand the rolling system in this game.
