The part that frustrates me into unloading on this subject is, I came here because I'm a pro wrestling fan. As far as I can tell, and anyone, please, feel free to correct me if you disagree, that wrestling is about characters, storylines, mic work, and entertaining visuals in matches. Now quite frankly, due to the fact that this is partially competitive, there aren't a lot of stories being told in the ring in the way that say, a Sami Zayn and Cesaro told a story last night strictly through their ring work at ArRival, because the story seems to be the same most of the time, it's "THE THIRST!", but when people start basically telling me that my stories are worthless because I'm thrown into the trenches here and I'm playing catch up on the sticks side of things, I'm going to speak up. To me, it just seems like there are a lot of people here because they LOVE wrestling... and then there are some people here because they want to win something... and it seems like they belong in a UFC Undisputed 3 League rather than a wrestling e-fed, because they, while abiding by the rules set up here, treat the game like it's a fighting game instead of trying to utilize it as a pro wrestling simulator.

Considering how this game is FUCKING UNPLAYABLE ONLINE outside of organizations like the OCW, it's pretty hard to get anything in. Matches for me are 50% me trying to time the lag that is different every match I play, sometimes it's as bad as a 2-3 second delay, so I literally have to hit the reversal button before someone even starts doing a move and just pray I get lucky, and then it's about 25% desperately trying to catch up and start getting any kind of meaningful offense in, and then it's 25% getting ragdolled from double orange to double red, wakeup taunt, finisher, finito. A lot of people here talk a lot of FPR shit and a lot of people seem to have this freebie pass on their FPR. Watch one of those KD vs Minio match ups back, I'm not saying the guy hovers but he NEVER backs off. You have no time to reset, no time to do anything. That's when you really suffer at the hands of lag, because you're never getting offense in, you're just battling the lag in pure desperation to reverse. I often times make the stupid mistake of trying to actually build progression of moves in a match to make it actually look remotely like a match and I'll get destroyed with a power move in the first 15 seconds for my troubles. I'll try to do strikes, I'll do grapple moves that lead to strike moves, and I'll just get jacknifed through the ring. It's just very confusing as a newcomer because people tell you, it's a mixture of putting on a good match and playing competitively, but there is a clear segment of players here who are just playing this competitively. I do believe that you get better by competing against people who are better than you, but this shit is EXTREMELY overwhelming as you're trying to learn and remember FPR, and there are some guys who have no interest in helping teach you in the moment about the right and wrongs of FPR. So while you have that riding on your shoulders, knowing a few sticks in the mud will bitch about it on the feedback thread rather than teach you in the moment, then you're just trying to learn the Online game, you're trying to learn how to do all of these things on the fly, all the mean time someone is just relentlessly destroying you. The only thing you're learning there is what your character looks like when he's totally helpless. Then, when you try to get your work in verbally, you have people who poo poo on it because you're not good on the sticks. It's important to remember, while Cody didn't have Ambition, he seems to have had another fed that he came from to get to here. A lot of us rookies don't have that. We don't have Ambition. We don't have backgrounds in other feds or leagues in this game or previous versions. We're just here trying to learn against people who are just trying to win because everyone is more concerned with being the Crowned King of OCW mountain than they are concern with telling a story or building a character. Thank god that there is a group of people here who actually see, and give even half a shit, about the bigger picture, because there's a handful who really don't, and they only seem to resent the idea of a bigger picture.

Not for nothing, but handling a character is a chess game. You have to have your next few moves planned out. I think the real criticism of Cody is that, there doesn't really seem to be any real plan from here on out about where he wants that character to go, where he wants that story to go. When people asked, "hey, do you have a plan?" he tried to forfeit his title match before playing it and seemed to think about quitting. The other is that, Cody isn't really trying to put on a decent match, he's just trying to win. There is a segment of players here who sell, they're gracious opponents, and they don't make you look retarded. There are other players who don't give a fuck, they basically play this like it's public Online WWE 2K14 except with the double red rule. I would say that, the amount of people who play with that cut throat style are a definite minority, and I refer to it as "Stiff", but it's really dumb for a number of reasons, it seems to entirely miss the point of the OCW concept that the hard workers here are trying to develop and get across, and quite frankly, it's counter-productive. You for instance KD, every time I play against you, you're "in a bad mood" and you basically just fuck my face and squash me. Thanks KD, I appreciate the fact that instead of taking your shit out on the people who piss you off, you take it out on a rookie who's trying to learn how to compete, but it's counter productive as fuck. Then toolboxes like Cody bitch about the fact that I get squashed. That's why I go after anybody. If you guys don't appreciate the time that I put in writing, and if you just want to bury me and hurt my ability to get any kind of long term believable progression to my character (or any rookie), then I'm going to speak my mind and tell you how dumb the double standards are and how silly the logic is. If you think it's hard to believe in a character who loses and gets squashed, don't be a douchebag and squash people. You can get your win in without completely dominating every single match or sprinting to the finish. It's just, when you play like that, all you're benefiting is yourself. So if you're in this for yourself, then prepare to get called out on it, ridiculed and made fun of. There are a lot of people here who really have made an effort to build people up and help develop them into long term contributors to the OCW, and then there are people who are selfish and are just here to be "winners" of a fucking efed. Look stupid, get treated like you're stupid, it's a really simple concept, and when people start acting gracious, they get treated graciously. Let's just stop playing dumb about it already. For what it's worth, everything I've done in this thread was just me jokingly putting Cody in the Randy Orton position, and people actively watching the WWE product will get that almost immediately. Anyway, there's your sermon. http://www.utahreps.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Mic-Drop.gif

Ultimately, all that matters is that the Cody section was psyched after the main event. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_-mlhIzm6B8s/SyG8Yfch-wI/AAAAAAAACZ4/x00JTIUtO8A/s400/empty-arena.JPG Hi Leon!

Gloves have been off since I joined. First week I was here the thread was a warzone. It builds fire and motivates people. Look at the promo Pugh cut after LOSING a title match. That shit was fucking FIYAH. Look at Cody, he was so motivated by the verbal beating he took last week that he ran into his Pugh match, overwhelmed by the thirst, and finished the match as quickly as possible. Apparently rushed squash matches are only shitty when it's rookies on the receiving end. The thing is, the feedback, brutal as it may be, actually elicits change in the people who aren't so buried underneath ignorance, thick skulls, or defense mechanisms that they can actually listen eventually. There are quite a few people right now who have made major adjustments to their work that learned of the issues through brutal feedback.

Yeah, I definitely need to pick the spots better. I tried to build my character as this undersized guy who used his body as a weapon but the game just does not really reward that. My only problem is, even if I use the high flying sparingly, it still has a solid chance of completely botching out. Even if that top rope attempt was my only attempt in the Tobin match, my character still had a stroke midair and missed Tobin by a mile and he was actually positioned well and at a good distance from the turnbuckle.

I think this is the opening for a big discussion in, who is 'ready' for the main event level and World title contendership? If it looks as though Pugh is taking his foot off the gas on that front, and Betterness has no interest in chasing the title, who does? Who's ready? Who's poised in that position? I would personally say Tobin, and not just because he Tobin bombed my ass into my throat, because watching that match back I actually got way more offense in than I remember, but I just think Tobin has that serious bidness champ character, though to my knowledge, he's not really looking to jump into the World title scene right this second. Is it time for Matsuda to take his shot? Does Sean return? -------------------- Here's another discussion I'd like to bring up after watching the Minio vs. Tobin match, is the lack of true Ex division wrestlers due to the fact that high flying is a flawed strategy on WWE? As people have pointed out before, springboards are near impossible in 1vs1 without some hovering, because if someone is standing they can very easily dodge you. In the match, I somehow botch a top rope move to Tobin when he was laying flat on the mat. He didn't move, he didn't reverse, my character just biffed it about 6 feet to the left of Tobin for some fucking reason, and quite frankly, this happens fairly often. Both Suda and I had some high fly botches in our recent match that made absolutely no sense. So should I begin weening out the springboards and top rope offense? It's not to say that it made the different in either match, but it's certainly not helping my ability to win when I am doing damage to myself in situations that should either be a move hitting or a reversal, I'm giving up momentum and upper hand, and it makes my character look fucking incompetent. I feel like everyone knows that high flying offense in this game is fucked, but I missed the memo. http://media.giphy.com/media/K4wckv2q1O1bi/giphy.gif

I wanna hit Leonheart with a TDR. KD should black rack everyone forever. Tyga vs Cesar is already fun. #Dress? AC Cobra name dropping! Another rookie bringing some fire on his promos. I like it. RK's crib segment was a lot of fun, I wish I could write Luke to be as smooth as he writes him. He has that Eddie style slickness to him already. I like the direction Trance has been going in. Are these midget soldiers a Raze return thing or a Bedlam thing? Lex Walker is going to get the shit Tobin bombed out of him. Trust me when I say I know what that's like. It sucks. Mugen in a dress is outstanding. That's the ugliest dress, Austin Lee's fashion sense is fucked. The entrance was perfect. I marked out for Cashmere Cat. Poor Austin, wrong place, wrong night. That's what it had to be like to work with heat against Meng. Chuck the camera man gets more offense in on Matsuda than I do. OMG take over of an entire fucking page. #WORKRATE Cut Throat is awesome. Typically though efeds are not competitive in that sense. What you're looking for is a LEAGUE, not an efed. In a league, you don't have to be a compelling story teller, you don't have to be a great promo, you just have to win. Sometimes man, I really wonder if you even watch wrestling or if you're even a fan. Feud's don't have to cap off at one PPV, and they tend to be, rematches with different stipulations. Now, I obviously don't have a lot of options, so basically by your opinion, I cannot write at my level because it's too much for my play level. My only option is to play fucking musical chairs month to month until I get lucky and beat somebody. Because that's a compelling story. It bored you when I won a match. It bored you when I lost a match. I get it Cody, I've got it from the first time you said something. The only time you're being creative in the OCW is when you're creatively trying to dig for a reason to nitpick on the things I've involved with, every single week. "Revolution? wat I don't get it" "wat is this guy's revolution against?" "he did the in your house segment wrong! oh I mean in your crib oops!" "oh how ironic he's cutting promos about earning things and they gave him the title" "another match against matsuda? the RPs are good but who cares about RPs" "another promo against his opponent at the PPV? boring!" "oh great he lost against a guy that I personally believe is one of the TOP THREE PLAYERS IN OCW wow how boring" If you spent a little time actually reading the shit I write in promos, you would see an on-going storyline is my frustration that I don't have the Ambition system to come up to speed in here. I'm getting booked against Matsuda, Tobin, KD, basically, rookie eating monsters. Am I coming here to bitch about it? No I make the fucking most of it and I write my ass off being as compelling as I can be with the hand I've been dealt. I'm going to lose. It's a foregone conclusion. I had this conversation with Pato, Sean, and a number of other staples around the OCW, and everyone said "losing doesn't matter. Just tell your story and everything will come in time." You're the only person who's dumb enough to think that winning and losing matter in wrestling. They're all just factors that fuel a character. Daniel Bryan came into the WWE through NXT and was literally turned into a sacrificial lamb for the WWE to bury stars of the indies. Eventually, he was able to start winning, and while that was storyline, it was part of what made him that character. John Cena went on his huge losing streak and ended up main eventing Mania against the Rock. All of this is character progression, and there's been a long building character storyline that my character is going through, that flies right over your melon head. It's all just a match to you. You will never get into a character or a storyline when you are hell bent against getting into it, and it's been pretty clear from the jump that you've been determined to misunderstand anything or everything when it comes to my character.

Cody, you're arguing with the majority of the people here, about the culture here. This is one case in which I'll say majority rules. If a group of people all feel that this is a balance of story and sticks, you can't sit here kicking and screaming saying "You're all wrong and I'm right!" because the people here are what make that culture just that, a culture. It's worth noting that you've still yet to answer Dan's question. How do you make the title interesting? 4 minute squash matches are interesting and entertaining? If that's the case, where do you get off saying me losing all the time is boring? What about everyone who will go up against you as a dominant champ? Do you realize the folly in your logic that losing is uninteresting, but you think someone who goes straight for the win as fast as possible should be the face of the OCW. If all of your matches are five minute squashes, how is it ever going to be interesting? Clearly, people are sitting here impressed by your ability to win. People acknowledge it but they're not impressed and they don't enjoy it from a spectator prospective, so how is what you're going to do any different than this feud I had with Suda that you have said went on a month too long?
-
Is my understanding correct that Our Hero is an Authority figure who's tight with OMG? Also, this thread is officially the OCW Royal Rumble. High spots after high spots, long rest down times, surprise returns, ganging up to eliminate people, and general mayhem.
-
Wait actually I'm not gonna talk anyone's ear off. I don't wanna infringe on Cody's Xbox gimmick.
-
Both of you fucks better watch yourself. I won't say I'm gonna beat you in a match but I'll talk your fucking ears off! If Cody says it's okay.

That's right Leon just tell the Doctors that you tripped and hit your eye on a doorknob.

Cody why don't you just make an attempt to answer Dan's question? http://ockhamsbungalow.com/blog25/gnome.jpg Phase 1: Win title. Phase 2: .... Phase 3: Profit!

I'll stop being as funny on the thread until I get better on the sticks. It's not as funny when I make jokes when it's a foregone conclusion that I'm going to lose my matches.
