A New Era Has Arrived

It's quite a bold statement to make, but after a bevy of single and multiman matches I can confidently say that this will be our year. From a game-play stand point 12 is spot on, the window to reverse varies from move to move, and transition to transition. Couple that with certain instances having two and three windows for reversal, and you have a game that requires "Skill" and timing to do well, or at least in my opinion. 12 feels the closest to HTCP and SVR2k6 personally. And if you know me you know I don't play these games after making a caw. The fact that a lot of old talent and myself have continued to play dm's and random's and have not pulled out our groin hair is proof that there is something here.

 

What it means to you

Our next show will be in the next 2 weeks, an Ultra Super Mega Deluxe Riot if you will. This show will serve 2 purposes; One it will serve to see how OCW Matches play out, Two it will let us know how to approach FPR. As it stands right now matches vary from person to person, while I may have a more methodical match with Aries, when I fight Trevor we pretty much throw everything out the window and try to murder each other. By that token I gather that it is the same with everyone else.

 

OVERALL

Right now there isn't an official stance on CAWS other than an 82 OVR. We are still trying to figure out what some of these stats do and how they effect the match. So as a guide line do the following

 

No Stat Lower than 60

No Stat higher than 85

OVR Caps at 82

 

CAW Moveset

We go through this every year, you know what im talking about you see "NEW" and select yes, then you get into a match and you and your opponent are clones moveset wise. 12 has a heaping helping of moves. Exercise some restraint, what I like to do is work on my moveset in pieces like say wrist lock and face lock grapples, followed by a save then some offline and offline matches.

 

If you do it one sitting you sort of glaze over and just begin to pick everything that looks "COOL" the end result again is carbon copies. Right now it is fine as the 1st show is going to be a pilot of sorts. But over the course of the season I want to see variable movesets. There are more than enough moves for everyone and with CAF there really isn't no excuse. Good rule of thumb is if you made it popular in 2k11 you should keep it in 12.

Ending A Match

Matches are not only faster but entirely way more entertaining to watch and participate in. There will be no DRR rule the match is over when a finisher is hit. Since you can only tell when your about to lose due to screen effects. As it stands in order to end a match you must have hit your finisher. After that you can use a pinning combination or signature. If this is abused, as we will see on Riot I will revert it to simply you need a finisher to end the match period.

Finisher Quandary

Finishers can be hit anytime during a match, wakeup taunt is acceptable, and a toe kick is not necessary. Get good with the reversals or prepare to lose often.

- Allow Re-target as Manuel targeting does not work and auto is horribly broken in multiman matches.

I saw a rule I like from another fed... I'm shocked. Basically, match starts, both guys attempts to lock up, whoever wins the bashing game wins it.

 

Seems simple and effective. Will stop ZOMG WALK AWAY, PUNCH, ZOMG DONT WANNA GET GRABBED COS I CANT REVERSE.

Yeah I was wondering exactly the same thing. I did the back of stuff with Dupree and thought it kinda made the match flow not as good as other matches I have done.

 

I do think this year will be a good one for OCW, just need some new faces now.
