The NEW Desk Episode 9

I looked back at the match this week to see what you were talking about in that instance and only saw one time where i deliberately backed up to avoid a move. other times i was trying to "reset" and he went for a move and it looked bad. Also, the finisher wasnt a case of me sidestepping or moonwalking like Jay said it was. i went for a clothesline as he went for his wheel kick, we both missed, i recovered, i took advantage.

either way, i think it's odd it's so frowned upon. In fights, just in general, people back up. that's why the reach of fighters is so important in matchups and stats.

It takes advantage the weakness of the game engine. Is the simple answer. If you step back, somebody throws a strike and you immediately grab them before they get up (almost hover like) then that's an issue. Once or twice it isn't, but that's something that happens all too often and shouldn't, because it's actively backing up to seek an unfair advantage. The fact that, 9 times out of 10 you'll win an a battle means that people have to find different ways to attack you, and if you're backing away from their strikes and immediately rushing them when they fall to the mat is kinda sketchy. Like Kent said, when Pato beats you, he beats you classy and clean without a hint of sketch. An eye for an eye isn't a legit reason.

I'm more concerned about pickup sigs.

No.
