Smythe D. Wonder Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 The rules are rules... But hitting a springboard dive attack over and over again doesn't look good... Spamming moves isn't good... We have to be aware that match flow is important in OCW... Almost more important than winning... Especially in this game when skilk is literally half the battle 2 Signature 1 - The Alpha Heel Signature 2 - Spear 5 (F) - Stargazer Finisher 1 - Flapjack 2 (F) - The SDW Finisher 2 - Reality check (G) - Dawonderful Dream Finisher 3 (i'm cool enoigh to claim 3 moves) - The Darkside - THe Million Dollar Dream

It comes more down to ethics. I could do pick up grapple and pick up grapple but I think it looks shit. I know people can reverse but it really looks fucking stupid. If I do one ground grapple, I then go for a pin or maybe a stomp but I am just old school. What I do hate is when I go for a pin and my opponent then gets up before me as I am in some slow holding my hands at the back of my head animation and then I get attacked? Only happened to me in dark matches and I hope it stays that way because anyone that does that in my eyes are shady as fuck. That's what you see from randoms online.
Tre Golden Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Then there has to be a discussion if your just going for the win or to have a good match. Most people are taking the win. So it's a question of making the match look good and getting destroyed, or trying to be competive. 2

No I agree, you've even put yourself at a disadvantage in a match for good story telling. I like it, makes it feel like a real show, some people just want to win, some want to put on a show, some want to do both. I'm still trying to find that happy median.

If it happens through storyline then even better. If I can write an rp that makes people say I want him as champion then I'm doing my job well. To me the entertainment part is the best aspect. Playing ti win straight up ignores trends and storyline. That also does not mean I just throw matches away. .....kass and I redid our tournament match due to tech issues but I won the first time. Because I wasn't playing to win I was just going by the flow of the match I was happy but the next match he just had my number. If I was too competitive I would have made the first match work and things would look different. .....but honestly storyline wise the right man won. 3 "Amatuer cheat hunter, Resident OCWFED historian, Lover of spreadsheets, data and HOI, MASTER OF THE GOKART" *I DONT KNOW HOW TO CHANGE MY PROFILE!*
B-17 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 There are ppl who just straight up want to win. And they fail to see that winning all the time won't get you over. 1 "Amatuer cheat hunter, Resident OCWFED historian, Lover of spreadsheets, data and HOI, MASTER OF THE GOKART" *I DONT KNOW HOW TO CHANGE MY PROFILE!*
Tre Golden Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Agreed, I lost to the gatekeeper, storyline wise it fit perfectly with everything, so I'm not upset, KD better watch next time though lol
Buddy Burns Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I'm competitively enjoying putting on good matches. This. You can still kick someone's ass and still make the match look good. You can still go for the throat and not have cheetos for thumbs. People make too much of a deal about winning and losing, if you put on good match and don't play like a fuckboy you will get your opportunities at titles. If you work storylines and feuds you will get opportunities at titles. Playing like a rando and doing nothing from week to week will get you matches against randos who do nothing from week to week. To me it's not if I won or lost the match, but if I enjoyed myself. IMO there are two types of OCW competitors. Those that try to put on wrestling matches, and those that play a video game. 4
