Seth Morrison Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Actually i hated this article. Mainly for thew simple fact, is was misleading. Nate Ortiz Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 The issue isn't using strikes to stun people, just like a stun grapple it is somthing you have to do when your opponent backs away from you all the time. It's that or back them into a corner where they can't back away. That is not the issue. Using 1 quick grapple to set up your strong grapples isn't bad that equals someone doing like 2-3 strikes to set up a grapple. Again isn't somthing you do throw timing off and is needed when people back away. The issue is using one thing be it quick grabs or irish whips into the corner all match to win. Not even trying to strong grapple. People say it's to easy, but it goes both ways right. Constantly spamming quick grabs + whips/cornermoves or/with ground grapples is just as bad as someone spending an entire match doing running attacks. It's just ethics. Leon Valentine Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I just feel like this is the vets coming together mad about how the once rooks are starting to climb the ranks faster than they can handle. And AJ you didnt span quick grapples you used that kick to stun people from far away. Everything from 07 is happening in 08. It's not about that Bold. In 07 it required skill for people to get where they are today. Now it just doesn't mean that much anymore because anyone can be good at 08. It really aint that hard. Back last year i enjoyed most my matches because they were fun. When i won it meant something as now if i win it's meh. Don't get me wrong i can have some good matches on 08 depending on who i am playing. As for the whole stun grapples it's true. I have said for a long time now that hardly anyone relies on strong grapples anymore and mostly stun, strike and irish whip. I just don't enjoy matches anymore because of it. There are people who do just wait in a corner and wait for you to grapple and then run at you or quick grapple you out of your attempts. Now the game has become a big issue because it is taking what people have worked at for a long time away from us. We tried to make the game work and it just hasn't worked imo because even when we went to 07 last year we weren't complaining as much as this about it because we actually enjoyed 07. So was 08 really a good step forward for OCW since were having all these debates? I think not but hey that's just my opinion. But this isn't about what one person thinks since this is about whats best for OCW. So we all need to work together on this.
Versus Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 All in all, discussion is never a bad thing. I hope that there's some positive that comes out of this, and I truly believe it will. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d103/JDVS/footprints_1.jpg
Nick Kage Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 first of all lets stop the flamming. second of all no one is saying the main eventers want to hold down the up and comers. A) we as a communtiy need to address the fact that we have almsot a 50-50 split in how 08 is effecting OCW that is a problem we need to address. B) Bold you say you can reverse so much now and that means your good. Bold you have always been strong at the game, but 08 is easy to reverse in. it doesnt mean you are suddenly super skillfull it means the game is easier. your skills are getting overshadowed by an easy game. wouldnt you rather feel justified in making it to main event cuz your skills got you there instead of a poorly made game. c) ethics are a huge issue in 08, we really need to re-address how ethics play a part in 08 and our future. d) after lution ocw will have a sit down summit with EVERYONE to talk about what to do next. so please instead of flamming think about what you and we can do to make ocw work with whatever game we decide to stick with. E) aj is right main eventing with the same people over and over again is boring. but you should make it to the main event thru yoru skill. 07 show cased skill more then 08. Bold you can reverse alot in 08 well guess what so can D-Jack so there goes your theroy. F) for AA here you go http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a343/Jinx_1313/Various/MS/StPattysDaySlut.jpg "When you're pushed... Eddie Mace Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 08 doesn't make for one big blob of people that are practically equal as many say...it does take skill it's just got different game mechanics to learn. If people weren't good in the last game they could be good now. It's not cause it's easier to get very good, it just has an easy learning curve so you know what does what. There's a difference. And if it doesn't take skill why can't some guys like Valmont seem to win? How come there are distinct mid-carders or upper mid-carders like Cross, Bold, & Bauer who can beat each other but almost always lose to the main eventers like Ortiz, Kage, & Fausto? There is a difference whether people like to admit it or not. It's not so much that anyone can beat anyone all the time, it's more of like maybe a mid-carder's style is a bad matchup for one of the main-eventers on a given night or something.... People need to stop making the game out so that everyone's on an equal plane. This isn't kindergarden. Not everyone is special. & on a side note Melissa Midwest is fuckin hot SLAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/827/macesig2eq4.jpg lano15: liddel got KO'd!!! lano 15: thats what i am gonna do to you in UFC mastamatt1: i'm gonna drop you so hard you're gonna think you're Nick Cage the actor mastamatt1: & the name of our fight will be gone in 60 seconds

Nick Kage Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 FYI leonheart understands what this is about. no bias no bullshit. its fact in 07 skill got you to the top, in 08 skill isnt needed as much so what alot of you are thinking is skill is really just 08 dumbing down the game to be "pick up and play" this is no knock on anyone its just how the game is made. yes some peopel will be better then others sure, but you know if Smythe makes it to ME status it should be cuz he is that good at a game that takes skill to be good at not cuz he is able to play a game that is easy to be good at. Versus Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 ...dumbing down the game to be "pick up and play" Isn't that how they described TNA? http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d103/JDVS/footprints_1.jpg
Tyro Kraven Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I think the biggest problem of 08 is moderation. One person uses to many ground move or ground attack One person quick grapples to often One person finds it absolutly normal to whip a guy in the corner at the start of the match and do it 3 more times around. Quick grapples are essenstails yes. But here is where the ethics comes in to play. Move repeating is still move repeating. So if you hit a body knee and followed it up,you used your body to knee to follow up once. So when a match is long enough or just by bad luck you do your quick grapple body to knee again start to adjust and just back away instead. Same with punching with anoying hurt animations. If you followed up once no need to do it again. And there are some stuff that needs looking into but that will come after Lution http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g58/Undertaker1012/281x211.jpg Finishers: "Where is Tyro?!" (Front,F-U 2) "Faaaceeebusstaaaaaah!!" ( Back, Facebuster 06) Signature moves: Oversell punches (Grapple) Fancy footwork punches (Grapple)
