NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the problem starts with ethics... people are forgetting them... there is crappy matches in 08 and the CAW and FPR police aren't doing anything about them... until now... this game has all the same moves as 07... so all the ethics of 07 should still apply... that's how I play... everyone else should play the same... in 08 I've had fantastic matches with Brad Bauer, Double A, Mayhem, Nate Ortiz, a tag match with Nate against Kage and RD money, great match with Baxter, a great match with Fausto... if you watch any of these matches Ethics were in place and the matches came out great... it's not the game... people can play and entertain in this game as much as 07... half of the problem really is the ME guys just don't play the game... before Majin lost to Cross... Majin lost to Ed Reed, Majin lost to Pee Stee, Majin barely beat Kang James... Majin is not over the top good at 08... he's rusty from not playing enough... Fausto had an ugly match.... 1 ugly match... his moveset is questionable... but not overpowering... it's more cheesy... we knew this for a long time... we saw how bad it can really be in that match... usually he plays very ethical and does 1 or 2 questionable things... but nothing major... Bold has an overpowering moveset... endless combos... strong attacks... heavy damage moves... and he and cross both play like cowards... we knew this as well... one day they'll get it.... what we need to do is have a cookie cut explanation of what the ME guys play like and how you have to develop if you want to get there... when I played Nate... we kept within contact range as much as possible... everything is either reversed or landed... reversal skills are essential if you don't want to job out... you have to show your skill in everything... you have to work your combos... you have to strong grapple to land and sufficent damage... you have to switch up your moves to keep the other guy guessing... I had a likewise experience playing Versus and Majin on 07... the game is all about your attack and reverse skills... that's ME fighting... with the mid-carders alot of tylering happens cause the mid-card guys don't get the attack defend logic... you quick grapple them and they jam the strike button to tyler instead of reversing your next move... also the mid-card guys will either grapple as you get into range or will back away and wait for you to miss or get close enough to attack... thus making distance another part of the game... the problem with 08 is... the ME guys don't play the game enough to know how to counter the mid-card guys... or they don't play the mid-card guys enough... so the skill levels are even... which isn't much of a problem... but it's getting there... I prefer the ME style of play... and enjoy matches much more when they're intense.... IF YOU GUYS WATCHED RIOT THIS WEEK... me and Brad put on an ME type match... but I use the distance trick to take the match over... but the game is more of a chess match than a cheese fest... OCW is running short of chess matches and becoming a house of cheese fests.... AA is right about the match we had last week... in the beginning he was kicking my ass... but i figured him out and made a comeback... another ME type match... where the chessmatch is evident... I think a major problem is people aren't watching matches to fine tune their game... I blatently copy Majin's ring skip technique... as well as Nate's pause mid combo movements... cause I've watched them do it many times by studying matches... we need to try to be Students of the stars and work our way up like that... I do not like people saying that 08 is a crappy game... cause it isn't.... people playing like crap is the problem with the game... at this week Riot... BOLD/VEGA was embarrassing, TRIPS/LEON was disgusting, CROSS/MAJIN was garbage, and FAUSTO/KAGE was disappointing.... the worst Riot I have ever seen... and the game is not to blame.... in 07 we said many a time that winning isn't everything... we've completely forgotten that... to say everyone in OCW besides the people I play can't have a good match is also garbage... FPR needs a tune up... a small one... the CAW police need to get back to policing movesets much like they took a look at styles a while back and let's get this place in top shape again... it's just a blasted shame this convo didn't come up before Lution!!!! What the problem now is that it seems we have to go to kindergarden and adress everything we havent yet cause not everyone seems to be on the same page on whats right and wrong. So if the ME isnt happy i guess there is nothing left to do but shutdown OCW or take every oppertunity to say how bad the game is.You'd think after negative comment number 100 we would get that. Eddie Mace Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 One of the 1st things THQ does when they announce the new game is hype if they've re-vamped gameplay mechanics. This hasn't been done for 09 & wasn't even mentioned in the interview (aside from tag matches of course). This makes it pretty damn likely that 09 will pretty much play almost exactly as 08. Thus, switching back to 07 will likely be 2 steps back instead of just 1. 95% of the people here are great w/08 fpr. Ethics needs work but we learn as we go right? If we work now to perfect 08's ethic work then we will already have a HUGE leap forward in breaking in 09! That's looking at it from a logical standpoint whether you like the game or not. This is what's best for OCW's future rather than the present. **As an absolute last resort we could possibly change Turmoil to 07 and keep Riot 08 or vice versa till the new game comes out. And one last thing, people should probably quit looking to the TNA game as a savior. Even if gameplay gets worked out right there's no way on their 1st time around their creation modes can be as down pat as SVR's & that's what OCW thrives on. You're either a cheesy fuck, or you're not. We don't need more rules, we need less rules and more people that know what ethics are. If you're on the 'wrong page', you're a cheesy fuck and probably don't deserve to be here. Unless you're one of the cheeseballs, don't defend their actions.
