Trevor McManus Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 SPOILERS!!! ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT PART ONE Knox vs. Cruz: I was not looking forward to a horrible parking lot brawl match because environmental moves are the suck which is why these two impressed me when they brought it into the ring. In the spirit of the match they keep it hardcore with a few weapons being tossed around early days. Knox is all over Carlos in the early goings but Carlos slows him down with a neck breaker for the first wrestling move of the match. Carlos keeps it slow with a boston crab on Knox, never going to get him to tap at this early stage but it keeps Knox at bay and stops him using his speed(nice touch with the speech from Carlos on that move). Knox comes back with a stomp on Carlos’ foot then a hurricanrana with punches, use of speed that Carlos is trying to avoid and needs to avoid if he’s hoping to win this one. Knox keeps the momentum rolling with a nice springboard elbow followed by a slingshot move, he’s using the ring to his advantage with these high paced moves. As Carlos battles with Knox and the voices we have a reversal battle with Carlos coming out on top and hitting a gut wrench suplex, again slowing Knox down. Carlos follows up with an uppercut which takes Knox down again, he’s clearly looking to keep him grounded here, he can’t fly if he’s on his ass after all. Knox dropkicks Carlos off the apron as the fight spills to the outside, however Carlos gets himself together and catches Knox coming in, slamming him off the security barrier. Good stuff evil Carlos. Knox quickly gets back on top as he throws Carlos over the barrier. Knox smashes him with what looks to be a mop and then tosses him into the crowd, as we see by the in match speech from Knox, he’s very upset with Carlos. Knox comes close to ending it right here as he places Carlos on the table and climbs the scaffolding however Carlos is too wise and rolls off the table in the nick of time. Knox stays on top with a nice head scissors takedown again using his speed which Carlos has been looking to avoid. As they make their way back to the area surrounding the ring Knox misses with a high risk diving dropkick and Cruz hit’s a neck breaker, continuing to work the neck and back area. It clearly hasn’t affected Knox as much as Carlos had hoped as Knox goes back into the ring only to launch himself over the rope and take Carlos down, may have hurt himself more than Carlos though as the Mexican is back to his feet quicker than Knox. Poor old Knox is beginning to feel the strain on that old back as Carlos throws him into the turnbuckles and scores with a superplex. Carlos continues to work the neck with a headlock to the grounded Knox. Knox goes back to the sledgehammer driving it into Carlos’ gut once more Carlos says “Damn you.” I’d have thought it would be more along the lines of “ughhhhhhhh.” but maybe that’s just me. Knox begins to head up the ramp calling on Cruz to come with him, he catches Cruz coming in as the Mexican falls for another cheap trick. Knox drags Carlos back to the parking lot where it all began. Knox once again looks for the table and this time dives off a fire truck with what looks to be a body splash. After a few car moves on each other (if you touch mine you’re dead boys) Knox smashes Carlos with a chair. After Carlos is made to bleed we see Knox down with Carlos taunting, only hitch I’ve noticed in a great editing job so far. Carlos cracks Knox with a chair and shoves him in a garbage truck which then takes Knox out of the arena making the winner Carlos Cruz and his crazy voices. Air Promo: Next we have Air getting weighed in for his EX Title match and sure enough he makes the 220 pound weight-limit. He then asks for an explanation as to how the scales work and the doctor suspects nothing here he actually gets excited as though someone is taking an interest in his boring dull job. Then coincidentally it’s revealed that Reed is the last to weigh in after Air, this sounded silly to me but as I read on he opted to go last so he could lose a few extra ounces before weigh in very nice explanation. As Reed is about to weigh in Air pulls the fire alarm and the doctor still doesn’t suspect he’s going to mess with the scales. Of course he does mess with the scales and Ed Reed doesn’t make the weight because of it. Trips Promo: I arrive at the arena in all my glory and am still apparently pissed at Regan for not handing me my title belt on Turmoil. Hardcore Title: Let me just say I’m marking for Jacob’s double coloured tights. This is a hard match to review as it’s like watching two matches at once but I’ll have a stab at it, just don’t cry if I miss a move you hit. We start off with Mace targeting the champ Colt Star and Kip Conrad targeting Jacob Trance. Former champion Mace quickly knocks down Colt with a big old slap to the back. Colt retaliates with a kick to the gut and a slap to the side of the head, not one to be pushed around by the big guy is our Colt. Big Mace throws his weight about again with a big back suplex on Colt as Kip takes down Jacob with a big uppercut. There’s a quick opponent switch and Kip is now staring at Eddie Mace but not one to back down Kip hit’s the big man with a suplex not many people use that version, I like a bit of variation. Not a nice guy Kip starts working the groin with knee shots as Colt almost beheads Jacob with a big close line. Mace is clearly unhappy about getting kneed in his pride as he hits Kip with a close line that could cause even me moderate damage. Colt shrugs Jacob’s high flying elbow off as he jumps on his head, ouch. Mace puts Kip up on the top rope and brings him crashing down to the ground with a ddt. Colt works over Jacob in the other corner as Mace brings in a kendo stick to get hardcore, forgot this was a hardcore match until now. Kip quickly find out about Mace’s hardcore background as he wraps the kendo stick around Kip’s neck and sweeps him to the floor. Colt hits an old school pile driver on Jacob before heading out to get a trash can. Colt’s can is turned against him as big Mace shoves it over his head and delivers a big boot to the side of the trash can. NICE. Jacob is working Kip over in the corner with the chops. Jacob brings in a ladder and ends up diving off of it onto Colt, the magic moment comes from Kip who does a moonsault off it onto Jacob and the pin is broken by Mace, good spot. Jacob takes this personally and hits Kip in his Hollywood face with the ladder. Kip who has been waiting to fight Colt all match gets his wish and Jacob puts Mace up against the ladder and works him over with the bin. You can feel Kip’s hate for Colt as he tosses him into the ladder while Eddie Mace reverses Jacob’s finisher attempt and gives him a big knee in the back. Fueled by his earlier success Kip once again takes to the air from the ladder and takes out both Mace and Colt with a flying dropkick. Mace repeats his bin spot on Jacob, still NICE. Kip and Col have spilled over to the outside where Colt is putting a beating on him. Jacob grabs a hold of the bell which Colt brought into the ring and cracks his head with it. NICE USEAGE OF HARDCORE IN THIS MATCH GUYS. Kip and Jacob slug it out on top of the ladder and Kip uses his superplex to take Jacob out of the match, at least for now.(SIDE NOT: KIP YOU SHOULD WAIT TILL JACOB IS STUNNED ON THE LADDER BEFORE USING YOUR FINISHER) Colt cracks Mace over the head with the ring bell as the match comes down to Casey’s clients Kip and Colt. Colt is threatening to end it here but Kip resorts to dirty tactics and gives Colt a sharp low blow, he follows this up with knee shots to the groin, DAMN HE LIKES KNEE PEOPLE IN THE BALLS! Kip hits his finisher on Mace but that pain in the ass Colt is back up, when Kip finally gets his down remember that guy Jacob? Well he’s back in the ring again. Jacob comes off the ladder crushing Colt as Kip hits Mace in the face with the ring bell. Jacob showcases his lightweight skills by rolling under Colt’s arm not once but twice before springing off the ropes with a back elbow, another nice spot. Jacob hits Colt with his finisher but Kip and Mace are not allowing this match to slip away from them as they double team Trance making him unable to get the pin. Jacob gets his finisher on mace but that pesky Colt Star is there to make the save again. Colt hits his finisher but is foiled by Kip. Jacob hits his finisher on Kip but is foiled by Colt. Mace hits the boot on Colt but his pin attempt is broken by Jacob. LOTS OF ACTION IN THIS ONE. Colt gets his finisher off on Kip but doesn’t even bother with the pin as he knows Jacob and Mace are lurking, Jacob takes the chair to Kip’s back as he’s grounded after Colt’s finisher. Jacob then hits his finisher on Colt but the big man Mace foils any attempt by him to get the pin. Jacob somehow musters enough strength to german Mace over into a pin but Kip makes the break on that one. Kip’s frustration is showing as he smashes Mace with a chair and emulates his trademark boot signal before using his corner finishing move and going for a pin, this time Jacob gets the break. One has to wonder if this match will ever end, what a credit to the hardcore division anyway. Kip gets CAUGHT by Mace with a spine buster, NICE. Kip and Mace are both taken down and Jacob and Colt have the chance for the win, Jacob beats Colt to the kick but Colt reverses the finisher attempt, Colt then hits Jacob with a kick and puts his head under for his finisher as it looks to be all over, BUT WAIT, Jacob flips him out of it and counters. GREAT ACTION GUYS DOUBLE FINISHER REVERSAL WOULD GET HUGE MARKOUTS IN A SINGLES SO WHY NOT A 4 WAY. Colt goes for a table but gets squashed by Jacob who flies over the top rope and takes him out. Mace crashes Colt through a table but Jacob has the roll up on Kip, one, two Mace is nowhere near the pin with his break-up attempts and it looks to be over but somehow Kip kicks out. Jacob hits his finisher on Mace but Kip takes the referee down. *Ignores little fast forward in time* Kip goes for his finisher but Colt manages to reverse. Colt hits his finisher on the big man Mace and with Kip preoccupied with kneeing Jacob in the nuts this one is all over…WHAT THE HELL MACE KICKED OUT! MARKAGE! Colt hits his finisher again, this time on Kip but with Jacob in his face it’s hard for him to get the pin and Kip rises to his feet. Kip hits his finisher on Jacob and with Colt bust taking his rage out on Mace with a chair Kip gets the fall and becomes the new OCW Hardcore Champion. FANTASTIC MATCH GUYS. After Match Promo: Seth comes to the ring and brawls with Mace. Interesting to see what develops. Air Promo #2: Air gets focused for his title match. Builds suspense and I’m really excited to see it now. Kang & Aries vs. Death Row: MARKING OUT for the attires of Kang and Aries. Well to the action now. Kang starts strong with a back suplex in the big man Cross. Kang the takes Cross off his feet again with a big right hand, notice each time Cross is down Kang jumps on him with the strikes he obviously want to stay on top of the big man and not give him any room. Unfortunately for Kang he’s just pissed Cross off and gets a boot in the face for his troubles, this is followed up by some knees in the head. Cross continues to work over Kang with big right hands and comically knocks A-JAX off the apron with a right hand which was intended for Kang. Kang gets lobbed across the ring and looks to be in trouble as the big man gets rolling. Kang is in serious danger as Cross hits him with a clubbing blow to the back and a big head butt. Kang looks to his partner Aries but Cross prevents the tag, Kang takes exception to this and hits Cross with a DDT before tagging Aries into the action. Aries gets technical reversing Cross’ moves and hitting a nice fireman’s carry. However, Cross kicks him in the mouth, nothing fancy or technically gifted their but it’ll knock your teeth out. Aries connects with a face buster/close line combo and Cross decides it’s time to tag in A-JAX. (NOTE: A-JAX STRIKES WHILE HE’S BEING HELD IN A GRAPPLE BY ARIES, I’M SURE IT’S JUST A SLIP UP THOUGH, I DID IT TO NATE IN A MATCH THE OTHER NIGHT BY MISTAKE). It’s been a great showing by Aries as he kicks A-JAX out the ring. A-JAX is not going to accept this laying down as he delivers a series of punches and uppercuts to Aries, again not pretty but effective which is what we’ll see from Death Row and what just might win it for them. Aries drags A-JAX over to team Kang/Aries corner and Kang comes in for the double team but momentum shifts as A-JAX delivers a double close line taking them both out, giving Kang a forearm smash just for good measure. Aries brings the momentum back to his side with a nicely executed double arm suplex. Aries tags in Kang who comes in delivering a boot to A-JAX’s ribs. Cross is tagged back in for Death Row and the two original competitors go at it again, Cross pulls the match back towards Death Row as he works Kang with stiff shots in the corner. Big Cross then delivers a spear to Kang who once again needs to make the tag to Aries. Kang tags in Aries and the teamwork is on show as they hit a nicely executed double team manoeuvre. Aries goes for the first cover of the contest with a backslide pin hoping the big man’s own weight will keep him pined down, Cross manages to kick out at 2. The big man is shocked by this pin attempt and promptly goes on a rampage slamming Aries around the ring. Aries shows great heart however coming back with the vertical suplex. A-JAX comes back in off the tag but Aries is on a roll and hits him with a DDT before saluting the crowd, A-JAX doesn’t appreciate this showmanship and hits Aries with a move made famous in Karim vs. Yohansen. Aries comes back with another beautifully executed move, this time a double arm backbreaker. Aries brings Kang back into the action for his first meeting with A-JAX, Kang hits him with a suplex variation before hitting his finisher and going for the pin. Cross enters and instead of going to break the pin he attempts to close line the ref but misses, he obviously stood on his hand or something because the ref stopped the count anyway and Death Row survive and close scare. Kang is once again close to finishing it and sensing danger A-JAX tags in Cross but Kang just gives the move to him instead. A-JAX goes for the same tactic as Cross and takes out the referee. Another close one for Death Row. Kang tags in Aries but he can’t avoid a punishing hold from Cross, Aries still has the whereabouts to break the hold though and Kang&Aries survive their first scare. As the fight continues between Aries and Cross it appears as though Cross has him right where he wants him but Aries pulls out a big DDT however this isn’t enough to stop Cross as Aries taps to his full nelson hold before Kang can make the save. Team Underdog Promo: Had a laugh at this well written and dare I say it I like the way Fearo and CJ gel. http://positivesharing.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/complaining.jpg [23:39] locoNY911: You get solace in the fact you arent a fuck up. 2k9's better than 2k8. Eddie Mace Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Haven't watched everything but lookin like a good show so far. I like Cruz & Knox but didn't expect much same as trips but I ended up liking it a lot. the dialogue doesn't always work in matches but it did for me in this one. The "Manic Hispanic" himself pulls out the victory in the end. I like regular Cruz fine & I really mark for the "voices" Cruz. I do wish there was a dive at that one point though that would abeen sick. Nice use of randy orton's new theme btw but i do think that song blows for him though. Won't comment on my own match itself but the only thing is trance when one target changes to lock onto another you should re-establish the fight for a bit longer than in that match but i think you, kip & i talked about that already but i wasn't sure so i though just in case. strong showing by everyone besides that imo. some solid tag action in DR vs Kang/Aries. Nice attires Kang/Aries. this was just a coincidence but i liked how when the leaders of the team (kang, cross) were in the r ing against the sidekicks they seemed to dominate more which ended up making it feel like a match on tv. trips mentioned the illegal knee in grapple which is one thing to watch a-jax but i'm sure it was an accident. A-jax's ring rust isn't as bad as i thought it was gonna be but he did do as many european uppercuts as randy orton & kurt angle combined. not a bad showing at all overall though. I think was one point when a tyler occured but barely & it seemed like both guys didn't know what to do so they continued to fight which was most likely an accident. idk how aries escaped from the 1st "No Escape" by Cross that was insane man. also the finish was pretty tight & something you'd see on tv. & yes of course i had to skip to the ME. Kage/Nate was pretty good. the run-ins made stuff interesting. Why Versus, why? Is he a face now? is he a heel? well have to wait & find out I guess cause he did attack both of 'em. I liked how the getting thrown off the cage spot was teased but nate reversed it. Both Kage & Nate have helped me before in makin the transition to ocw smooth especially kage. I hope that the loser of this match seriously considers making a return at some point this season or at least for next season. more to come SLAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/827/macesig2eq4.jpg lano15: liddel got KO'd!!! lano 15: thats what i am gonna do to you in UFC mastamatt1: i'm gonna drop you so hard you're gonna think you're Nick Cage the actor mastamatt1: & the name of our fight will be gone in 60 seconds
