Jack Porter Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Sorry for the late response, but I just wanted to stop by and say that... I think giving Ryder the shot was perfect. Damn sure I wasn't expecting it when he came out. Don't know why everyone seems to think each title shot NEEDS to be important, especially now that there are four belts... And at the ending, I thought it was perfect. Nearly pissed my pants when he beat Leon. After the last match between RD and Leon, I was through with seeing him as champ, and Ryder is one of the few that I can think back and believably see as beating Leon. The roll up was Ryder-esque and is in NO way comparable to the god awful 3 way between Trips, Valmont, and KD. If we're talking about Ryder's legitimacy as a main eventer, is there ANYTHING you can say there? Look at his record for the past year, or even his record for the past three years... ya, probably better than anyone's who is reading this. He's had a title of some sorts at least 75% of the times I've come on to check up on the fed or watch matches for fun... He's co-main evented 'Lution... And the more I think about it, he's been in some storyline that I've actually enjoyed reading up on whenever I check as well. I can probably name his last 5 or 6 fueds. But no, having him in the match is just stupid, considering how inactive he is. So why exactly are people getting upset? It isn't because of the way he got the shot, obviously, because there have been 'random' title shots forever, hell even EA got one... It can't be because it was Ryder who got the shot, read the last paragraph again if you still don't agree with me that his character is a believable champion. Is it because of the way he won the match? Leon was DQ'd multiple times in title matches... Trips was DQ'd on one of his few defenses... Guy won off a low blow (even if it was a finisher)... Why are these acceptable, but Ryder can't win off a roll up? The only other thing you could possibly think is that... Ryder isn't up to the job of champion from a role play/feud perspective. And I can see that as an argument, yea, I can... But first I have to ignore ANY feud that Ryder has done. I'll forget his early feud with Trips. I'll forget the Shawman/Chino feud. I'll conveniently forget the CCW TV title feud with Brad. Just gonna blatantly ignore the bits with Cruz as well. After I look past all of that... Yea, this guy is the worst champion EVER!
Trevor McManus Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 1. The roll up was Ryder-esque and is in NO way comparable to the god awful 3 way between Trips, Valmont, and KD. 2. Trips was DQ'd on one of his few defenses 1. You're right. Because as much as I never thought I'd say this, Ryder's win was bloody worse. In the three way environment you can get a SLIGHT pass in the sense that there would be that panic in place. And at least when Valmont pinned KD, KD had been hit with a finisher moments earlier. 2. I can't speak for the way anyone else won their matches but I got DQ'd to cover for the fact there was no recorder and Valmont couldn't make the match time. So I made it 1 on 1 with KD, I made KD's caw, then I recorded th DQ offline. http://positivesharing.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/complaining.jpg [23:39] locoNY911: You get solace in the fact you arent a fuck up. 2k9's better than 2k8. Jacob Trance Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 If you look closely at Leon's pinfall on Chris Ryder after the supposed kick out, the bar neither flashes yellow for the kick out, nor does the ARGUE WITH REF option appear that ALWAYS APPEARS whenever someone kicks out on a close 2, which is what the kick out was supposed to be. It seems as if the kickout was faked, given that it didn't activate any of the kick out conditions. Perhaps someone hit RB so late so it looked like a kick out.
Carson Black Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 "What you see isn't always what happened" -Nate I'm paraphrasing of course, as I can't be expected to remember every detail of a random aim convo several months back. So decipher that, it's simple, some things are just made more interesting... "Address people randomly interrupting your offense without attempting to reverse, or when they just continue with their own shit, after you reverse them. Especially with corner springboards from getting irish whipped, extremely bad ethics" ~Cuz Porter Says So~
