Can I get my fuckin Ex title shot now or are you heels gonna keep politickin' all the good guys down?
-
I heard the plan was to go with Sean for the title run until the fans turned on him. Then Sensation called an audible.
-
It was so close I almost thought it was Resiliency but it didn't have the prompt. Just insane.

The Miniotes: Opening segment: Nathan Carter is going to run up against an opponent who's not going to put up with his particular brand of... peacocking. Jook is NOT that opponent. Crossbones vs Xander Rane: Crossbones looked pretty dominant at times but Rane earned his paycheck. Insane kickout at the end. Seriously nuts. Jookie segment: Raven is pink on the inside. Do with that what you will. Why is every Jookie promo this season set up like it's the last segment on a show from two years ago? "Whoa Jook you're still here?" Yeah Jim, the show started 20 fucking minutes ago. Or is that some kind of fucked up meta commentary on the flake stuff? Raze Wyatt segment: I miss army man Raze who was stalking people in bushes and all that nonsense. I sorta wish this promo was cut with Raze perched over Trance like Salacious Crumb over Jabba. Raze vs Bishop match: Let the record show when I clicked play and saw this match was 16 minutes long I shouted fuck and mashed my hands into my desk. Bishop looks like he knows what Nathan Carter's hang low smells like. http://blog-blogmediainc.netdna-ssl.com/upload/SportsBlogcom/1474622/0896437001434575110_filepicker.gif Just saying. Raze locked it down, not putting over new names this week I suppose. Ron Portnow segment: Speak of the couch potato. ... This segment. Well, at least we have some remote reference to the fact that this guy has actually been trained to wrestle. I thought we were supposed to just believe he learned how to reverse a neckbreaker while knocking tin on a roof or some garbage. Illuminati segment: Was the video supposed to be blank or...? Decent promo... what is the OCW fanbase supposed to adapt to though? AC Cobra vs Jook / segment: Oh sweet a minute long match... er... wait a minute. On a side note, what the fuck happened to Cobra during face morphing? Some angles look fine but during that entrance he looks like he's melting. Are the Family going to straighten him out for these comments, or are they toothless? Oh. Ohhhh. A video game promo... I'd pop for this if it featured some out of touch, Law and Order level dialogue referencing gaming. "Slamming dudes and shooting noobs" Phrasing. This gimmick is getting flat out X-Pac heat with me. I'm now rooting for the gimp. These guys would make a decent tag team with their matching boots. Nice to see the rook go over. Buddy Burns segment: Awesome segment. I do have a hard time believing security would give him an issue since everyone else seems to think Jookie just comes and goes throughout the taping. I guess he's sneaking outside for smoke breaks or something. GWAN!!! Thought this would end with Buddy jobbing to the security guard again. Smythe segment: Shocked to see we didn't get baited and switched with another member of the OCW custodial staff. He gave us all a new kind of OCW superstar, one who looks like at least four members of the roster! Is Smythe doing an Oprah gimmick at this point? "You get a roster spot! you get a roster spot! so do you!" Maybe Smythe is a big believer in "The Secret" where if you visualize and believe something long enough, it will come true. Monster segment: This cat is doing better "The Family" promos than The Family. I wouldn't mind seeing him steal the stable away from Trance at some point. Digging the back story and character so far. Only thing I dislike is the generic name but the character has easily made up for that. Matsuda segment: I feel like this really illustrates the difference of someone who is worthy of hype and someone who is just claiming they are. Suda feels like a real deal, over 'cool heel' character. He feels like he's over. Raze segment: Raze is all in on the Family cult stuff, and that's good, but I don't really remember progressing to this point and I suspect when it's done, it's not going to progress out of this. This is a man who's bought in hook, line and sinker into buying faith into a normal person, his peer. When that comes to an end, it's going to have to be big. Keep that in mind Raze. Normally when people leave cults they have to go through extensive de-programming rehab. Unless you start writing yourself an out, and hinting that Raze is bullshitting his faith. Mugen segment: This is my bad. I was supposed to write two bookending pieces for this that highlighted more of the Mugen and Minio phone tag while Minio is detained by Homeland Security. I'll make up for it, Mugen killed his portion though. I'll never shake a nickname like Tits Mandu. Sounds like a prequel era Jedi name. Buffness segment: So many of these segments are starting in dark rooms. Is that due to us having a lower budget? Oh it specifically is. I just got worked. Buffness is back. DY Nasty segment: Heeling out hard and promising to destroy the OCW. Jesus it just came back. All you have to do to kill OCW is let the entire roster hate the game released that year and let Jay get cucked out by some jumped up college protester. Pugh vs KD / segment: Was this show missing matches? Pugh cuts a meta promo about the content on the card. The Brits are scary good at kickouts. I wish that back body drop onto the stairs looked better cause KD had it lined up perfectly. Solid main event. Closing thoughts: I like seeing a lot of character establishment going down. Rooks are putting their work in on the card. People getting segments in without being booked and the roster feels huge. I'd still like to see some more feuds developing at this point but everyone is sorta doing their own thing so far. This show didn't feel like quite as much of a grind as last weeks did but it appeared to have significantly less matches. Some gimmicks are... kinda duds, but we'll see as they get more time to work it all out.
-
I personally think the issue in pacing is more than just finishers though. I think the overall pacing of matches is the real drag. I actually pop for the kickouts after finishers or just seeing the finishers, but that lead up to it, outside of a select few people who sorta 'work' matches, it's really pretty boring. I wonder if there's stats that could be tweaked to sort of adjust the pacing of the match, similar to how people tweak the sliders in the sports games to change the way they play out. Then again, I do think it's valid to say that we can just skip around through matches if we're really that bored through them. No one is making us watch the whole thing.
-
You judge overness on your own inflated ego, I judge it on response from the people who actually read the shit. That's the difference. There is only one member in your fanbase, and you recently gave him the "schmuck off the street" gimmick and added him to the OCW roster.
-
You have been on this website 6 years longer than me and have nearly 4x as many posts and I've already got more mark outs. I enjoy that you're pulling the whole early Kurt Angle era 'oblivious heel' thing IRL, but you gotta understand this is the feedback thread and not an RP so I don't have to pretend to buy your bullshit.
-
I tried to start this conversation up with my review on the last Riot, where were you two fruits then? Oh, Leslie was ducking the thread after he realized the fed had turned on his Make a Wish gimmick.

THE MINIOTES: Opening Portion: Sensation is a bumbling heel and the crowd doesn't care. Our Hero is super over though. I sorta wish we used either the ECW arena or NXT arena because a smaller crowd would give him more of a Heyman vibe and I feel like that's what he brings to the table. Great idea for an opening match. Great way to bring a big name back. Post match angle with him was maybe too subtle unless that was specifically intended. You guys are both smart enough to know better than to do an announcer table spot at the top of the show though, but it led to a chuckle from me at the beginning of the next match. Match was alright, one guy showed a lot of rust and it was the wrong guy. I'll rate this combined with the matching segments since it was all the same bit.:cool::cool::cool: KD vs Ryu: KD's promo was fire. I think that's helped by it being audio. I sorta wish we all had audio promos but I realize how cringy that would be, so lets not do that. KD is going to be eating rooks alive this season. Daps to Spider for holding it down for me with some botchy springboards. Decent match, KD is a legit powerhouse and it looks great in matches. I hope the other big men have a similar style.:cool::cool::) Jookie Segment: Citing gimmick infringement for stealing my unnecessary assault of arena staff bit. That's some hostile locker room though. Cut-Throat / Crossbones Segment: No offense to the rest of OCW but I can comfortably assume this is going to be the best segment on the show and that shouldn't come as an insult. Also if this character doesn't adopt a new pirate name every season I'll burn this fucker to the ground. Nathan Carter vs Jookie Marley: Minor nitpick but the fact that the issue of language with the TV deal already came up and just came up again feels awkward, then again, I know how this stuff tends to happen so it's no one's fault. If Jookie was booked tonight, why did Security not recognize him and why did he have to assault the guy? Not like the dude is a ladder... So Nathan Carter is DX era Shawn? Wait he's got a little Dalton Castle here too. Not that there's anything wrong with that. DTF is officially a OCW 'catchphrase' now. Nathan Carter will be the next rook that Suda eats up and spits out. DOES WONDERS FOR THE CAREER. Suda is definitely going to eat this rook after seeing Carter using diva spots. Jook's having a hell of a time with this rookie. Nathan and I have a lot of the same moves and I get it, similar builds, but I'm gonna have to do some work on my moveset to vary that into the season. Carter is no selling Jook. I think it's safe to call that an upset, solid debut.:cool::D Pacifica Segment: HA, another rook smells Jook's blood in the water. EAT KID EAT! DY Nasty segment: Alright, credit where credits due, this is giving the Pirate segment a run for it's money. I dig the angle, I'm a sucker for injury stuff, obviously, I am the concussion keeeyid... and the production of this was solid. Didn't go the hokey funny route I would have gone to get a pop, straight to business. Great way to get your sophmore season rolling. Ryu segment: Speaking of concussions, someone check in on this MMA fighter before he Warmachine's his girlfriend. Mugen Segment: Told ya Our Hero was a bumbling heel. MUGEN 2016. First C4 mention on the show. Smythe vs Raze: I dig Smythe's look here as Canadian bad guy, but solid arena botch. Solid heel work on the stick. Oh god it just dawned on me... Raze is Ryback. Oh and here comes... uhh... Ron Portman? He stole Smythe's chain gimmick. I have no idea what's happening right now. Wait... Smythe let Biker bro 8 take his spot in the tournament? WHAT A FUCKING HEEL. :D Jay is hot. He's earning the name "CommentaryTaker" with this burial. Smythe... This is some next level shit. There's like 6 reasons this was a big fuck you to OCW and kayfabe and most of all Raze. On the other hand, you delivered it perfectly and it's hilarious so I gotta admit I have mixed feelings on the whole thing. I do think Smythe should just pick up the New Jack gimmick of playing a song over his matches this season. Oh god the commentary team walked out. This most epic match of the show was Raze against a fucking teamster.:confused::confused::confused::confused: Buddy Burns Segment: Security and the black folk are having a hell of a night. Buddy Burns just jobbed to a maglite. He's my new favorite OCW character. The whole world is watching, Terminal 5 security! Matsuda Towers Segment: Suda is living in the lap of luxury while Minio receives a full cavity search with an M16 aimed at his face. :( Suda's negotiating his Brock contract, I'm predicting February will be Suda Month on the OCW Network. Hell of a tease for 402. Crowe vs Pugh: Crowe loses all of his street cred with that Hollywood Undead shirt. This dude might be better suited for a stable with Nathan Carter than Trance. Pugh went from Ziggler to Johnny Ace in a year. I would be a lot more excited for a Dan vs Steve match if I wasn't like halfway through this damn show. Solid match, though I feel like we've seen it a lot.:cool::cool: The Monster Segment: Very well written, interesting character introduction but, this is the third hooded man we've seen on the show tonight. If they're not related, I don't even know what to think. Xander Rane Segment: Fedora? Ehrm. Cool to see a lot of people introducing their characters in various promos and vignettes though. The roster is huge. AC Cobra: Gamer Gimmick... Maybe you should borrow Xander's fedora. CoD product placement... Did Cobra just shoot on his IRL job or something? The Family Segment: I like this angle a lot. Trance throwing obstacles in the way of his challengers. Raze is on fuccboi status, getting cucked out by Trance to his face though. Trance should be more afraid of Raze, oh well! Main Event: Arguably the 2013-2014 NA Title scene in this main event match. This is another match I feel like we've seen a lot but at the same time, it's a good way to kick the year off, and both of these guys have a World title run in them. Perhaps the fact that Our Hero is borderline illiterate has something to do with us losing our TV deal? Lots of product placement on this show, you could barely tell we had no media presence for the better part of a year. I feel like we missed an opportunity here with Pugh on commentary, watching his stable mate get thrown around at ringside. Could have been jawwing with Buffness, especially since they might meet up later in this tournament. Jay has gone full Angry Vince after the Smythe debacle. Now suddenly our PG-14 deal is just us paying censors? Jaysin is one biased motherfucker. Accuses C4 of corking the bats but then just overlooks a dirty pin from Sean. Despicable. I like seeing Sean opt out of the Superkick party only to take a vicious suicide dive to the spine. That might be the legitimately only distraction illegal object attack I've seen in OCW. These two are murdering each other. This might be Sean's year, Mugen is looking good but Buffness looks driven. Awesome match climax. Watch RUSHTV.:cool::cool::cool::) Closing Thoughts: We should officially declare the 'rule' that the recording player turns off the in-game commentary. I get the criticisms of the commentators. They need characters and they need to get IN character, outside of sort of tongue in cheek dialogue, they need to get into character as if they're not just watching video game wrasslin. The X-Divison could be a LOT more interesting with the re-balanced reversals system. I almost wonder if we should limit it to 3 reversals max just to make it more important to pick your comeback spot. Good Riot, welcome back, but goddamn do those matches add up. I wish we could shave off 2 to 5 minutes from every match just to give the show a bit more of a brisk pace, but still solid.
