Parker Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 'tactically use them'...lmao....you mean 'let people hit you so you don't run out of reversals'......so, so sad that they have to cap defensive skill so people can catch up. This is by far the worst game in years, built purely to reward 'pick up and play' people. Sure the 'better' players are always going top still be slightly better, but the game has closed the gap, the people haven't improved. In what other game do you get rewarded for getting your ass beat? I can whoop you for 10 minutes and you still get a sig/fin....pity charisma :d 2 http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/5774/sig2uq.jpg 2 x Hardcore Champion (Longest defending OCW champ,19 defences) 1 x NA Champion 1 x Pride Champion 1 x TV Champion 2 x OCW World Heavyweight Champion F.I Winner 2012 MOTN vs Leonheart @ Wrestlution 7 'Don't worry about no one else, hows my hair look' - Tiberius Dupree 'Wipe you ass and go to bed' - Sensation to B17
Nate Ortiz Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 button mashing is the worst thing ever lol, id love l2 strike r2 grapple and both for finisher to come back in a form. that did add depth the rest of it i don't see. when it was unlimited reversal didn't yall have rules on reversing? this game makes you tactically use them and be smart about managing. There wasn't a cap on reversals that I can remember. And yea you can still body people in this one but it isn't the same. Since the reversal cap was introduced you can body someone all match and they still have a chance come back. Weaker players for sure have more of a chance in these games. This game frustrates me most of the time but it can be really fun at times with the right dance partner. 6 May 29 2005 - Present Took Dupree's Summer

Kassidy Hayes Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 didn't get a pitty sig or fin, barely touch liger, if this game "hampered skill" so much this wouldn't even be possible if you are pinning and letting them kick out, yes they will get momentum, if you use the dpad, they wont. Most of the pitty momentum gained is always off pins.
B-17 Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I felt the flame in Tibby’s rp. It’s not fire but enough to sizzle the finger of someone that’s mediocre. I see you standing out that chair Tibby. H20_ Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Oh and by the way about old wrestling and new wrestling. I agree with Parker. I miss the old style of play. The game was based on pure skill than being a tactician. It took me an entire year to change the way I used to play overall because all wrestling now is a chess game. On top of that we all experience poor connection issues, glitches and mechanical issues that makes the game that’s tolerable at best to hated. Some people became good button mashers because of wrestling. At least the worst button mashers had a chance to kick out of fins. I see some elites have a hard time kicking out of just one fin now. I feel wrestling now is for the tactical and the not so lucky ones to become lucky. Depending on your dancing partner you kinda already know who’s going to win in today’s wrestling. Bobby Minio Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Not speaking for Parker, but my understanding of his “weak olayer” argument has always been this; The older games focused MUCH more on the Gameplay Layer of the game, you had to be good at timings, you had to be good at pushing the buttons fast, if you had good timing and fast button pressing, thats what let you body people. In the newer games theres more of a focus on the Mechanical Layer along with a diminished focus on the Gameplay Layer. Timings are much more forgiving, only one type of reversal vs 3 different button presses in older games (strikes, grapples, and finishers), as well as button mashing minigames being nonexistant, the focus is more on managing reversals/stamina etc. Parker’s gripe is he comes from a different era of game, where different aspects of the game were highlighted. Kass is also correct though, because skill in those older games does translate into the newer ones and the people that were bodying people in those old games are still bodying people, hell, people like me who were passable at the old games can body people that are used to the new style. Idk, I enjoy the new Meta to a certain degree, but I do miss the old days of Alpha Counters. Mechanical control is a skill set too though. Compare my win over H2O to my two losses. In that win I was using the mechanics a lot more, rest holds, baited him out to the outside, outside contextual moves, in the subsequent two matches I basically just tried to stand and bang with him and got handled. It's not like I was hiding in that first match I just used way more of the tools available and it benefited me. Coming from a background in games like Counter-Strike, sure someone can just have outright raw skill and have pinpoint accuracy, but if they are not using all of the mechanics to their benefit, jiggle peeking angles, a meticulous knowledge of the different nades, smokes and flashes... their professional career will be very short lived, if occur at all. With my background in traditional esports, having seen some of the best players that gaming has ever known up close in high pressure matches, I always felt that the fact that WWE games were reduced to little more than reversal control and running attacks in the actual online gameplay (away from FPR) was it's major downfall and why it was a joke compared to truly balanced games. I think the points about hit detection are spot on though, and the way the game calculates animations with hit detection, things like that. Fighting Games players who study frame data for move selection would hang themselves watching WWE's hit detection. Then you have the Kass discovered layer of how many of the moves do not do proper damage, how many of the stats are totally broken, shit like that are all completely legitimate complaints. I just don't agree that mastering the mechanics is some display of lesser skill. 4 http://ocwfed.tv/recapppv/Awards%202k18/UpdateOTY18.png

Especially when the game glitches out your animation when you reverse and makes you waste it, leaving you wide open to another attack that either forces you to reverse again or get fucked.
