Super Turmoil Note tings: Tired Edition

 

Alright, it's about time I got these Turmoil notes out. Firstly, I want to say that this was probably the most RP collaboration I have ever seen on a single show to this point. As Jake so eloquently put:

 

'The collective OCW erection that built up over the last 4 weeks is close to an explosive climax'.

 

And climax it did.

 

Anyway, I'm going to do my best to rattle off all of my notes coming off the back of a couple hours sleep after the hilarous OCD&D session (which you should definitely check out on Twitch). So here it is:

 

New Year, New Champ

 

- This opening segment was straight up great. Watching this open the show, from Kass' new music, to the visuals of all the guys facing off, made the Riot main event scene feel big once again following on from the lackluster Nomad feud.

 

- By the end, with the rest of TTT added to the mix, all people involved here had a chance to shine except Rusty, so that would be my only criticism of this segment; I want to see more 'Bonjour, idiots'.

 

ALL YOUR B-COMMUNITY ARE BELONG TO US

 

- I'm just gonna briefly mention all of the C-Community clips here so I don't have to keep coming back to it. These were all really nice, short videos and really solidified Jackman's shift in character towards this maniacal tyrant, and away from 'Box Man'. Good shit.

 

#WhyBookMJF?

 

- To me, MJF just feels a bit directionless. The promos are good and well-written and all, but they kind of get lost within the shuffle for me. There were a lot of words, bruh on page 1 and 2, so it was easy for this one to be drowned out by lots of other content all poured in to start the show. I feel like he's missing a bit of 'umph' to really become prominent, but I'm sure that'll come with time.

 

Telos vs MJF

 

- This match was the biggest down point of the show by quite a way. Firstly, it was really long, so even before I watched it I felt like it'd drag, amplified by the fact it did actually drag. There were two major FPR breaks which I'm sure both guys are acutely aware of by now, but nevertheless if I was Telos I'd feel pretty hard done by here, especially considering he got his arse kicked for a lot of the match.

 

- To be honest, I would've hoped that a veteran like Dimsmore had recognised the mistakes, unless they went over both of your heads. Even so, surely the person editing the video would've seen the breaks? You two are better than this match showed, and there's a lesson to be learnt here about double checking your matches and leaving ample time before the deadline to get stuff in if possible.

 

Teenage Mutant Ninja Bournistico

 

- It felt really good to see Bourne and Mistico involved in so many RPs on this show. Seems like the controversial rookie graduation class might have given you the kick up the arse that you needed to really kick into gear, and now following on from this show you have something really to dig your teeth into with this tag team title shot coming up.

 

- Another good thing to mention about these RPs is that you managed to get some of the new guys involved as well, as well as Benji Moore. Now, just to stay consistent, but this was some damn good work. Keep it up.

 

Code Jackman vs Velveteen Keith

 

- In all seriousness, I'm digging the Keith Hendrix gimmick right now. To me, I feel he adds enough to the character to not make it a complete rip-off of Velveteen Dream, with the Twitch stuff in the entrance, and your moveset is pretty suitable for what you're going for. You clearly know how to work and editor, so as I said for the other turmoil rooks and sophomores it's all about consistency here. Your FPR is pretty good to this point, probably a result of all those DMs you've been doing since you got here, and this was a nice starting point for you. Always good to get a win when you're just starting out.

 

- Jackman looking great with his new look, looking a lot more professional and clean in general. Well done on making Jackman feel fresh Kramer, doing a great job b. This match was nice and short, and a tidy affair.

 

Yake and his Action Figures

 

- Another quality couple of RPs here with Dillinger, Tayy, and a bit of Telos sprinkled in towards the end of the show. Only criticism I'd have of this Tayy vs Dillinger and Telos feud is that if Telos is going to be the man to fight Tayy considering Jake can't face himself (although he probably would if he could), I would like to see them come face to face a bit more. It was a hot start to this feud but I feel like it's cooled off quite a bit since Tayy made his return.

 

TWITCH THOT

 

- Even if no-one knows who Winters' handler is, this RP gives direction to both her and Terra, and was nicely coordinated as you'd expect with Jake. Good to see more womens' feuds going on again now that Valk v Heather has run its course.

 

RIP Cort Marshall

 

- Glad to see Cort v Shep continuing with a nice, fresh confrontation RP here, with the Career Suicide video taking centre stage. This popped me and was hilarious, and I'm loving the character arcs both these guys are taking at the moment, with the title prize for the winner taking a secondary role in the best way possible.

 

Wholesome Valk is wholesome, still could beat her in a rap battle though

 

- From the sounds of things in this RP, Valk seems to be taking a bit of time off from wrestling, having dealt with Eastern European warlords and literal Demons, just the usual. In all seriousness, this RP had some great moments, with some nice uses of juxtaposition of the characters of Ashley and Valk sprinkled throughout. Excited to see where this angle goes, I feel it has a lot of traction in it and could do a lot for Ashley's character.

 

DragO' Mac vs Spider (LHW Title)

 

- Popped for all of the Drago Mac shit going on in this segment + match. In my opinion, this is the blueprint for how far referencing real life in OCW should go. This was brilliant.

 

- JESUS FUCKING CHRIST SPIDER WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT THING? So unexpected and if I'm honest, took me out of the match a little. It just made no sense to me, maybe I'm missing something, idk.

 

- This match was clean as fuck from start to finish, but Drago once again looking like an absolute beast with that title on absolute lockdown, another notch in his belt with another successful defence, onto the next one.

 

Heatheriosa

 

- Unlike Valkyrie, Heather seems to have fared slightly worse with the outcome of the Ladies' Night match. This RP was pretty POWERFUL in getting across Heather's vulnerability . having been such a cold and calculating character for so long. The inclusion of H2O to help get this across was very intriguing and I'm excited to see where this one goes. Good stuff overall.

 

CQC vs Uncrowned

 

- I'm only going to briefly touch on this match because I don't really like talking about my own stuff, that's for you lot to do. This was so much fun be involved with, even if I did get my shit pushed in by the champs. Rusty and Yake are always a pleasure to work with, and here's hoping we get to do more in the future.

 

Bournistico vs OtaKru

 

- These attires were cool as fuck, but just a few criticisms before we get into the match itself. I hoped that Mistico and Bourne would've removed the shells while in the match and Bray would've lost the halo. Just feel like the match suffered having to watch two guys with fat plastic shells on their back and one with a floating halo on his head have a match, but other than that, these made Bournistico feel like a 'real' team, same goes for OtaKru wearing matching colours (kind of).

 

- Great use of tag team moves here by Bournistico. They can be difficult to pull off in a comp match, but it always makes the match look better if you see them come off. Really digging the Rascalz' moonsault push thingy that you did, looked fucking awesome.

 

- This match was pretty long, but coming out of this show, Bournistico have a lot of momentum and this is a good sign going forward for you two. Good shit, credit where it's due.

 

Mugen vs B17 (Safety First - Extreme Rulez)

 

- Popped for the return of classic Bingo. Another mad long match, but it helped that two vets were taking part to make this enjoyable despite clocking in at almost 27 minutes. This was very easily a PPV worthy match.

 

Capo blew up a fucking studio

 

- Holy shit, poor Jehst man. Nothing like a bit of demolition to kick a feud into gear. Good shit lol, this was excellent. Glad to see Jehst, and Capo for that matter, back into the swing of things with a really nice and intriguing RP here. Jehst is so good at building sympathy for his character, it all flows so naturally even if the Hollywood star gimmick leans more towards a heel, but you make it work so well. Good stuff.

 

Lee vs Aries vs Trance

 

- Coming out of this match, it felt like a breath of fresh air has come over the title pictures on Turmoil. I'm liking the Austin Aries partnership to this point, there's a hell of a lot of traction in that team as a tag team and also the eventual split so that's always a positive. Also good to see Wrex back in CCW Title contention, although I didn't recognise him when he first turned up after the match lol.

 

- As for the match itself, this was just a clean as fuck, technical match between three top guys on Turmoil. Good shit, enough said.

 

MAIN EVENT: Pugh vs H2O

 

- First, a brief mention for commentary. It always adds to the match. Jake mentioned something about it pretty much having no downside, and I completely agree.

 

- This match flowed really well start to finish, with a nice callback with the use of the split-legged moonsault and eventual kick out. There were a couple of nice moments like this throughout, and this was thoroughly enjoyable.

 

- Loving Booby being added to the main event mix to close out this show. So many matchups I really want to see again between these four guys, and this rounded off a really excellent show.

 

Alright, so I think that's all of it. Loads of positive stuff getting started here going into the Clash. Feels weird writing stuff out again having done a couple of Final Words with Jake (and special guests) and we have a couple more SPECIAL guests lined up for you lot for the next couple of big shows, really excited to get those people on so watch this space. We're not planning on doing one for Lucha Kaboom, that'll be just writing but after that, it's Lution season baby.

 

Shameless plugging out the way, overall this show was a massive success. So much good stuff coming out of it and a massive improvement from the Turmoils before Devil's Night.

 

MOTN: Going to have to go with Bournistico vs OtaKru. Bournistico stepped their game up on this show, and I'm hopeful for that consistency we've not had to this point, and them picking up the win here capped off a great show for them.

 

RPOTN: The opening segment for me. Everyone looked great coming out of that one (except Rusty who should've had a better chance to shine), so there you have it.

You were to first to notice I tried to put Pugh away with the split legged moonsault again lol. He wasn’t having it this time escaping it after a one count! If I see him again I know he’ll be even more ready because our fued will never end.

 

That Heather Rp originally was for the promo room after Ladies Night but I said to myself, SELF, save this for the loyal viewers and keep them in suspense. I know they’re waiting haha.

I saw Cort and Quartz both questioned the Mugen/B17 financial arrangement, and rightfully so it has only been loosely implied and revisited over the past year or so since I've been back that there was a connection between B17 and Mugen.

 

Mugen used to be part of a faction called C4 and in my first year in OCW he created a C4 Marketing Company that B17 was apart of. It was never a tag team or anything of that nature, mostly just a storyline where occasionally his character or subordinates would offer advice, help, etc. Roughly around that time too he started doing this "Income Funnel" bit and B17 merchandise was often lumped into that.

 

I don't think he or I have done anything directly with it since I came back besides on a few occasions him telling Jay "as long as he makes money!" in chat a few times. I've also made reference to a mysterious someone paying for lawyers and paying for my "cancer" treatments.

 

So this was just a long ongoing story bit, using our history to set up the match on short notice. It is one of those things that I like to keep track of for long term story purposes. Just like Kass and I say "Long Term Booking" because we are 1-1 and haven't had a tie breaker yet and we won't until 2025.

RUDO’S SUPER TURMOIL TAKEDOWN:

 

+ Opening segment was brilliant. Show the former champ without his title and then H20 comes out to show the world who the new champ is. Having Pugh and TTT all come out as well made this RP feel huge and worthy of the opening spot. It made them all shine equally and make you believe that anyone could have won that match and DN (which is true). I’m also having visions of a possible H20 and Pugh vs. CQC on RIOT before The Clash after that confrontation.

 

+ Cort just wants to talk Shep! Also “Billy and Chuck” hehehe. Seems bossman don’t want Cort running amuck on Turmoil tonight; we’ll see how long it takes for him to find a way around security, he’s crafty enough.

 

+ Short video segment from Code rubbing in the victory over B-17. Wonder how much the C-Community will feature tonight and if B-17 will get any revenge in this situation.

 

+ MJF does what MJF does best; talk trash and put himself over. With his match against Telos coming up it’s a chance to live up to his own hype. Let’s see if he can do just that.

 

MATCH:

Telos vs. MJF

 

Telos you need to fix the skin colour to match the face texture my man, otherwise CAW lookin sharp as always. MJF looked dominant throughout this match from start to finish except for a few short bursts from Telos. I was thinking maybe Telos was gonna turn things around after the kick-out mid match but it never happened. FPR break has been explained, would not mind a re-match on RIOT at some point.

 

+ It’s good to see Damian RPing but I can’t handle the grammar/writing style of the constant “would” usage. Damian would...The clock would...As Mistico would... I dunno it kinda messes with the tense maybe? I dunno what it is but I would recommend trying to use different sentence structure to vary the language used as I find it gets very repetitive. Maybe that's just a personal taste thing. That aside, I am secretly hoping for a white angry tattooed Damian just for the lolz after that safe code was revealed.

 

+ Jolly good promo here from P3 and B. Was a fresh change from the mind-fuck that is P3’s usual talk show mayhem without completely losing that same wackiness of character entirely. B vs. MUUUGENNNN. QUICK MAFFS.

 

+ This was a classic face gets beaten down by heels segment and I enjoyed it cos it was wrestling 101. I really liked the initial brotherly banter etc at the start and then BAM! Coolidge in this bitch! I also liked the little swerve by CQC where you think ‘wait they’re gonna help Everett?’ and then BAM! HEEL TINGS! Good stuff. I’m guessing it’s gonna be a one on two match now? Guess I’ll find out later.

 

+ Short succinct promo from Code, was able to get his point across re: B-17 and still add a bit of his personality to the mix.

 

MATCH:

Code Jackman vs. Keith Hendrix

 

First of all, it’s great to see the evolution of Code take it’s next step. I think his win over B-17 was what he needed to elevate himself and it was definitely a fitting time to get the new attire, etc going on. Keith’s entrance was cool too, I liked the little Twitter feed thing. Need and RP though I got no idea what this dudes about. Nice quick match, a few FPR things here and there but they didn’t affect the match too much. Code could’ve capitalised on a couple of de-buff rollouts from Keith but just stayed in the ring; I would’ve chased that sumbitch down. Shock win from Keith, although haven’t seen a lot of him. After that win over Code he can’t not be considered for some bouts with the heavyweights of Turmoil to see if it was a fluke or not. Want more RPs from Hendrix as well as he seems like an interesting character, if not slightly derivative of Velveteen. Also why does he wear a boxing helmet? I can only assume it’s to ‘protect his pretty face’ but no RPs so I dunno.

 

+ I liked this RP as it wasn’t the normal interaction from these two and also had a cameo from Natoli Joe which is automatic A+ from me. Pushes the rivalry along which is the point of it I assume. Also got around the protection order which was a good move on Tayy’s part to keep that fresh.

 

+ Alyssa Winters; still no idea who the handler for this chick is. Got Karissa Dawson’s entrance but I guess there aren’t too many female one’s to choose from. Need sound during that silent mic grabbing part (I converted a YouTube sound clip of a crowd to MP3 to use in those silent parts). Doesn’t look like I expected her to look like either, not that that’s a bad thing I just expected more of a glamour-gamer type I guess. Good character progression from both ladies here, particularly Terra who seems to be changing if ever so slightly. Be interesting to see how this plays out.

 

+ Couldn’t tell if this was a piss-take or not in terms of Benji and Damian being “wrestlers” and punishing a rookie; a play off the Discord gen chat saga? That’s all I’m gonna say on that, no need to rehash that conversation. But in saying that, it’s good to see both guys RPing and I enjoy the Jamaican styling’s of Benji; he Jookies better than Jookie. Asher being involved is a good first step for him, now he just needs to have some RPs of his own to push more of his character. If I understand correctly, Muay Thai fighter wearing HBK love-heart tights? HE’S FIGHTING FOR LOVE, BAYBAY!

 

+ Very clever and humorous vignette from Shep here of Cort’s career failings; had to let out a lol on a few of those. Must’ve taken time to put together so props for that. Great story progression as always from these two, having Cort try and even the scores but be held back by the heel henchmen. This is far from over.

 

+ If this doesn’t end in a contract match for rights to the apartment I don’t know how this ends. Maybe Ashley’s point of view changes after living with the virtuous Valkyrie? Or maybe Ashley drives Valk to the point of insanity and she throws her off the balcony? Who knows?

 

+ POWERFUL Drago in his new Drago Mac get-up (Drago Mac figurine available at OCWFEDshop.com) with a pre-match speech before taking on Spider. Old school style interviewer and interviewee hyping the match. Always a good, simple option. Also good to hear P3 are still going to be around.

 

MATCH:

LHW Title: Drago Mac vs. Darth Cyclops

 

That shooting star to the outside made me pop. Some interesting reversal animations were used in this match that I’ve never seen before so that was neat. Drago basically did what Drago does in this one, although Spider did have some good moments that let his cockiness/weirdness shine (taunts, etc). Grats on the retain, Drago Mac.

 

+ 3 RP’s from Bourne so far. I mean, it’s good he’s putting in work, I can’t get mad at that, I’m psyched he’s putting up RP’s, but it’s like the Terra situation at DN; it’s starting to over-saturate the show with Damian. Was good seeing Thrace debut on screen and I must say, this was probably my favourite Damian RP so far purely because IT TOLD ME WHAT HIS MOTIVATION IS (finally). So I’ll be watching over the season to see how he plays out his ‘gimmick’ and how he carves his niche for his character.

 

+ The desperation from Heather in this RP was glaringly obvious and I couldn’t help but feel bad for her; really well portrayed. And H2O, like the champ he is, helped her even with her attacking him. Heather is a character I wasn’t into a whole bunch last season but her character progression was hard for me to ignore over the past months and she’s grown to be one of OCW’s ladies that I’ve now come to want to see because she’s both unpredictable and H2O writes her so well.

 

MATCH:

Doc Green vs. CQC

 

Matching attire colours; tag team 101, good to see. I really wanted Doc to hit that springboard corkscrew move, it looked impressive as fuck. Doc held his own for most of the match but with 2 v 1 it was always going to be an uphill battle. But, on the upside, we still haven’t seen The Uncrowned vs. CQC so that’s a potential match up for either The Clash or an upcoming RIOT depending on where they’re at.

 

+ Flojo getting cabin fever locked up in her apartment with only action figures to play with and talk to. Can’t say I didn’t enjoy the RP, pretty funny. And also hints at Flojo going to Ambition; not a bad move, can only do good things for her.

 

+ Cort seems defeated in this RP but I have a sneaking suspicion he is probably plotting something in his head to get back at Shep. I mean, he has to, right? Shep has embarrassed him in front of the world.

 

+ YAASSSSSS Heel vs Face 101; injured face returns to save the day! Loved it. Classic wrestling story-telling which worked as it should. I’m left feeling good because Everett saved the day, and the fact that Uncrowned are still due their match as a tag team against CQC. Great work including Coolidge as well, as his singles rivalry with Doc has room to grow or, alternatively, conclude with a match at some point.

 

MATCH:

Bournistico vs. OtaKru

 

Off the rip, Bournistico out OtaKru’ing OtaKru, though I don’t understand the reason behind the turtle power outfits. No RP, no special PPV event, no mention of trying to out-do OtaKru with cosplay, so really no reference point for this. Neat attires in any case. Bourne, you know you can’t just attack the legal man on the outside if you’re the illegal man right? I mean, irish-whip him back into the ring for sake of quickening the match, sure, but you missed a headbutt or something; I wouldn’t think that’s legal (maybe someone can clarify, I could be wrong here). Or maybe that would just count as your one interference for the match? LOL Damian taunts Bray, Bray goes “aight” and flies over the top rope. I popped at that. Didn’t think OtaKru was gonna put up much more fight after they were both pretty coloured up and Bournistico was colourless but they clawed back to have both double orange by the end. A few good shots at the end from Bourne just got Bates on the chin and sent him down with the MALIBUUUU DRIIIBAAAAAA!!!! It’s over. Bournistico were just the better tag team in this match with some great team work.

 

+ Two members of the C4 faction have a wee chat. I thought this was good from a standpoint of building the Main Event without taking away from Pugh’s confidence. Bobby built up H2O’s prowess instead of Pugh saying he was a worthy competitor, so Pugh still looks confident and assured. Good bants, looking forward to main event.

 

+ Blaine gets Dragana drunk hahaha, pretty funny RP, I enjoyed it. Short and enjoyable, and it’s only a matter of time before these two square off for that belt I’m sure.

 

+ Rookie initiative; good to see. Short and sweet promo vid to hype the CAW, sometimes that’s all that’s needed to have people hooked to see what you do next and finally debut on screen. Good stuff.

 

+ Damn, b. TLBS laying down the challenge to all on Ambition and to the damn LHW Champ himself! This was nothing out of left field in terms of it’s format but dammit I was listening to every word he said, especially when it came to mentioning the LHW Title. Can’t take anything away from Blacksmith, he’s been consistently good in the ring and RPing his heart out.

 

MATCH:

Safety First: Bingo vs. Mugen

 

Was surprised at B-17’s change to Bingo Bomber but then I realised it made total sense now that Code has his faction; he doesn’t have that identity anymore. Nice friendly start to the match. Loved the superkick just as Bingo’s chair-shot was coming down, perfect timing. I cringed when Bingo hit his face on the steps after that Imugenation, holy shit... Also the counter into the Imugenation through the table was great. So many unsafe dives in this one, Ricky would be proud. Release top rope German through the table!!!! BAH GAWG!!! That finish onto the ladder was such a good ending to a match that had plenty of gimmick match spots to leave the crowd feeling satisfied with the level of violence. Grats to B.

 

+ Reading through, reading through, reading through, reading some more then BAM!:

 

Valkyrie: Half of you masturbate to my matches, but you will eventually find better fapping material.

 

Whoa...Valk just got dirty lol. Rest of the RP did well to carry this story along, and I’m sure now that this will end up being a PPV match. And yes, Valk, you TNA crossed the line, b (just kidding <3).

 

+ I liked this interaction with Dillinger and Telos with Cobra thrown in, it reminded me of early 2000’s WWE backstage skits where two people would be having a serious conversation and then Goldust or the Hurricane or someone would show up and bring the lolz. And so it seems Telos is after the Pride Title? I’m sure there’ll be many others who wish to stand in his way.

 

+ I knew Cort had a plan! And Damian spray-painting on a wall? I’m confused as to his gimmick/direction again. Dude changes more than a runway model at fashion week, I can’t keep up. I have a feeling a certain car is going to be getting a new paint job.

 

MATCH:

Aries vs. Trance vs. Austin Lee

 

Joyner Lucas is a good start here. Aries and Austin eventually turn on each other after some teamwork. Some timely counters and heavy hands/legs/knees going around in this one. LIke others have said, great story-telling throughout. OHHHHH, MISTICO!!! This was a great finish as it sets up the Tag Title match and also protects the champ. Looking forward to seeing how Austin Aries fair against the up and coming tag team who have proven to be no joke in the ring. Oh WHAT?! Wrex with hair! HE HAD B'S WIG ALL ALONG! WREX-17!!! Hits two of Trance’s own fins! THE DISRESPECT! Looks like we got ourselves a new #1 contender!

 

+ Short RP from Belle and Valk. It’s a pity not many other rookies have had anything on the show so far so big shout out to those that did. Looking forward to seeing how Belle does in the ring on her eventual debut.

 

+ Tayy finally gets his words in and goes in on Dillinger. With Dillinger looking to be a long-term character I have to wonder where Breizee goes after this feud? There’s certainly no shortage of feud partners on RIOT so this’ll be interesting to watch blow over when the Telos/Breizee match happens.

MAIN EVENT:

H2O vs. Pugh

 

Decent match, told a good story I thought, with Pugh going to the outside to get his bearings after H2O had him beat on a few exchanges. That taunt on the outside into a flipping meteora and finished up with an H-2-O taunt was gold, great spot. That ending though. I would pay to see another Minio/H2O feud, and if this happens again or Minio gets a shot at The Clash I will not be unhappy.

 

+ Oh...well maybe not then lol. Good swerve on me I guess haha. This is a fresh angle between these two and I’m sure with Pugh and TTT in the mix at the top there this could eventually lead to a multi-man title match at some stage. So many story branch opportunities. RIOT is in good shape.

 

RP of the Night: Honestly there were a few here I have to mention: H2O/Heather was probably my favourite followed closely by the opening segment and Shep’s Cort montage/funeral.

 

Match of the Night: B-17/Mugen. Even though I think they could have edited out some parts to make it shorter this match was just fun to watch and was filled with ‘holy shit’ moments. Really enjoyed it.

 

I’m fuckin’ pumped to get back into things and with the recent rookie influx I’m sure the next part of the season will bring a lot of surprises.

I thought it was very impressive how the turmoil triple threat and post match included 6 ppl at some point along with starying two brand new storylines. Wrex vs Trance is something I've personally wanted to see for awhile.
