WOOO, alright. So, here it is. My last review for 2k19. Here we go!

I'm gonna save my promo thing for last, not a review, but because I want to talk about what it meant to me as the person writing it.

As for the match... damn. I got good quick, didn't I? Just not good enough, I guess. Wrex is pretty much my best friend out of character, and I'm thankful that any match, be it a casual DM on a sunday morning or a PPV match we recorded on a whim b/c we were pissed off about something unrelated, we always, ALWAYS put on a banger. I hope that never changes for as long as this place stays open. Thank you for helping me when I got here, man, and thank you for continuing to help and encourage me every day.

Derek's promo and match are getting grouped together because GOD DAMN, my man GLOWED UP. I remember when I came in, and all I heard about Derek was that he 'didn't engage' or whatever. Derek evidently got in his bag, because he threw Horse like that man owed him money. I've never seen Derek so sharp, so focused, and so engaged, on both the writing and the gameplay front. I hope he carries this momentum into 2k22.

Harri has grown on me so much in the past two months. At first, I will be the first to admit I didn't buy in to the Colin Shenanigans ™, but this match in particular has made me a believer. From hitting her own teammate straight in the face to all her stupid moveset shenanigans, the upskirts that sent me into such a laughing fit I had to leave the VP, and the comparative lack of chemistry between her and Ashley elevated the match just as much as TerraMiSue's coordination and cohesion. Both teams put it all out there, and the 'throwaway match' (along with Derek / Horse) ended up being just as good as the main fucking event. Love this place. What I don't love? Golf carts. Ashley more just got back in the game and you're already attempting vehicular manslaughter. Dammit, Harri, we were making progress.

I feel like the Bobbi segment was excessive, and I'll be honest. I don't really care that much about Amber and Bobby as characters yet. Bobbi looks almost exactly like Marisa in my mind, but as a face, and I feel that isn't necessary, and the angle Amber's playing doesn't sit right with me for some reason, but that's just my personal tastes. That being said, the ending of the segment popped everyone but me, so that must mean it's good! Sorry, guys. Nothing against you, just not my thing.

Flojo as the women's champ at last, and her first challenger is... Furiosa. Honestly, I feel like from a narrative standpoint, a rematch with Mujera makes the most sense, but this is OCW, and we don't follow traditional wrestling thought. I don't hate it!

Harris' creative control is getting on my last nerve. Man books himself to lose a title match to put over the new champ and then just buries Nate Mac's finisher on live TV. MAKE UP YOUR MIND, HARRIS! ARE YOU HOGAN OR NOT? Jokes aside, I love Harris as a character and as a wrestler, and Nate's presence and reputation definitely elevated this match and gave Harris a much-needed tick in the W column against a name that means something.

Locke and Key, what is there to say about it? Everything was just... so good. I think the thing that surprised me the most was Trance actually being a thing throughout the promo. When I first saw him, I assumed Colin was just using that as a joke, but then Trance actually started chasing him. I'm half-tempted to ask if Trance somehow is connected to Colin's pseudo-supernatural hijinks. God only knows at this point.

The wrong people won the Dominion match, but comp is comp. The match was good, but for me, this match dragged on way too much, and I never really felt after the first five minutes like the Uncrowned could pull it back, because every time they did, Nate just shut it down. That's no knock on those British Boys, mind you, it's a testament to how much of a freak Nate is. Danny was also in rare form, I didn't expect him to perform to that level, but he wowed me, for sure. I have to respect that he came back from his break somehow stronger than he entered it.

RD MONEY, WHORES! Or, uh.... RDIII I guess. Once again, P3 and its jokes are beyond my limited scope of OCW, but it was silly and did what P3 segments do.

Colby's facial expressions terrify me, but the VA (who is not Aries btw) did an excellent job on the delivery, and Aries' script was chef kiss He really sold the agreed-upon unofficial feeling that this is a number one contendership match for the NA Title. The match itself was also great, with a result I wasn't at all expecting, but you know, there are worse people than Rust to elevate a title, for sure. If they run it back, well, go on then! I'll definitely be here for that.

Parker. Please, for the love of god. You don't have to get ALL your shit in during a beatdown. I would have been good with ONE Rocket Kick, a quick promo, then you leave. That would have been enough. A beatdown is not a match, where everybody has to look strong. A from-behind bushwhacking should only be a few moves / attacks, TOPS in my mind.

TWC versus Sanctum was a foregone conclusion in my mind, and I hate to be like that, but Jordan has been one half of the top team in OCW for... since I got here and before. Sheldon is also one of the more technically sound rookies in our current crop, to the point where, aside from last-minute mistakes in a couple of matches, he plays like a veteran. Considering that John and Parker both seemed very much off their games, and learning afterwards the circumstances around the match, I understand why the match looked the way it did. They'll have to run it back sometime.

Speaking of dominance, here comes Mark Reese, ruining everything I love. Credit to Maxx for beating Harris and saying 'fuck it, I'm gonna FIGHT for this belt.' It takes a lot of balls to step up to the harsh measuring stick that is Jamie, and I don't fault Maxx for trying. He put in a damn good effort, but as they say, sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes, the bar eats you.

Reese is the bar. He ate this man.

Finally, Parca / Harvey. The feel good moment is over, and we have a heel champion again. From both a wrestling and OCW standpoint, it makes sense. Face champions rarely last long, especially nowadays, but I would have liked to see Harvey hold on just a little longer before Parca came in and snattched the belt from him. That being said, I've been working with El Brian enough to know he's been putting in hella work to get to this point. We may disagree sometimes, we may bicker, and we may be ourselves, but I can't think of any reason why El Brian can't hold that strap and do right by it. Where he goes? We'll see.

Finally, I want to talk about something that was very crucial to me, and that was my pre-match promo. This was going to be my last OCW show. I was done. I've been dealing with chronic pain and depression most of my life, and between a combination of (you all know it) my own brain baddies bothering me and a feeling of burnout regarding CG the character, I was ready to call it quits, at least on him, and maybe on OCW altogether.

I changed my mind after writing that promo. For those of you not already aware, CG was not my first choice of who to play, and my direction of him has been less than stellar. I'm not very good at the whole comp thing, but the one thing I know how to do is write what I know. And both of the characters in this segment are me. I had a 3 hour therapy session in my google docs where I told myself 'it's okay. You're doing your best. People care about you, and you deserve to be here.'. Just as much as a 25-year old broke single mother who just lost her career b/c of a masked luchador is trying to convince a burnt out ex-deathmatch wrestler that what he does has purpose to SOMEONE, I was writing those same words to myself. When I wrote that promo, I didn't know if I was going to win the title or not. I didn't edit it after I lost, either, because it fit all the more when I DIDN'T win. I didn't need wins or the North American Championship to make me feel like people cared about me, or that I belonged in OCW. All I had to do, and all I have to do, is keep trying.

And while my future with 2k22 is uncertain, especially considering my hand *very much* does not like this game, I'm GOING to keep trying, because after all the love and support you guys have given me through everything, how could I not?

Christian Garcia:

1x North American Champion

Jasmin Kaffee:

1x World Women's Champion

Posted

This was made in Notepad as the show was live on Twitch. Forgive errors and all that because reasons.

1. Christian Garcia vs. Alastair Ross NA CHAMPIONSHIP

Ross looking pretty dominant from the beginning. Garcia saying I'm not no bitch and makes a comeback. I respect that.

Ross looks like he was gonna run away with it early, but CG said nah bruh. The end was really good with back and forth

action. I thought CG had all the momentum, but Ross turned on the heat at the end for the win. I enjoyed this.

2. Moore/Etiqeutte vs. Terra Sue

Whoa! It was all smoke from the jump. Even thou Harri and Ashley seem to be beefing, they're holding up really well.

But Terra and Sue came prepared for it all. That Powerbomb to the outside was tough. I enjoyed the match, but that ending was

definitely surprising.

The Amber and Bobii segment was pretty good. Shordy had to get a lot off her chest with that table spot

3. Just Derek vs. The Last Black Smith

I'm loving the back and forth at the beginning. Then Derek started suplex flexing. I def was into that, rook. Going in I'm thinking

Derek will win because of the size difference, but Blacksmith played had slick moves of his own. The flipbomb and dive to the outside

had me marking. Derek his some uppercut combo into his finish was tough, but even tougher was Blacksmith kicking out of that. Legit was hype. Hats off to these two gents. Derek was outchea eatin'. Slick finish

Flojo vs. Furiosa segment

Champ come out saying I'm wit da shits on the mic. Love me a fighting champion. Furiosa entrance was pretty tough not gonna hold you. That was an experience to see. I thought we was gonna see hands thrown, hopefully I'll see it soon

4. Nate Mac vs. Harris Turner

WOTV entrance was like that. These two got straight to it. I'm interested to see how Turner responds since he had an amazing match with Tobin last time I watched. So far Nate having the upper hand. It's always good to start quick. Harris turner slowed that momentum though. However, Mac got it back and started to take over. Thought Mac was gonna win after reversing the finish! Turner showing mad heart! But look at this shit!!! Mac kicks outta a sig as well!! These two are definitely leaving it all out on the field. Helluva win for Turner. Nobody deserved to lose this match. Congrats to you both, but for sure congrats to Turner for getting it done once again.

Colin segment was too fucking funny. White people doing white people shit in the forest! He deserved to dies

Damn, Harri petty for running over her homegirl after a huge win earlier.

5. NOBODY WINS WHEN THE FAMILY FEUDS!!! Dominion vs. Uncrowned

4 grown men with accolades ready to go at it. Can never bet against Chize for sentimental reasons, but also knows that Doc and Tony Av (I know its Ev, but I call 'em Av) are more than capable to win. Match has been pretty even to me thus far. Expected, but Slight edge to Uncrowned. The reversal pin sequence was fucking god tier. Looks like Watts and Nate gain the advantage mid match but can't count out the champ and Doc kicking outta the Express! Not too many people have done that. Hard marking. But got damn, I don't understand how Nate still do it. Fucking World Beater. Good match!

6. Colby vs. Rust Cohle

Colby's segment was outta this world first off. Like, Jesus, mad respect. Coming out guns blazing. Not taunting. just two ready to get after it. I'm loving the counter wrestling they're doing at the start of this match. This is evenly matched. I thought Cohle would've ran away with it. I am happy to see the back in forth. No frills, just wrestling. Rust came back and took control. I thought he had the win about 3 times. Colby wants this bad and not giving up. Colby had the win, but Rust said nah bruh we ain't done. I am legit marking for this back and forth. Rust finally gets the 3. So far match of the night for me. That was so good boys, well done.

Marisa Alyssa segment

I am loving seeing the women come to the ring for all smoke tonight. Shordy didn't have to whoop her ass with a Kendo though. I am here for this though. Alyssa is not playing with shordy. Marisa, if you owe her money please get that to her asap

7. The Wrestling club vs. Sanctum

Both entrances was good. Love the Ninja Attire. Then my FTR-ish squad. Love them, lol. Love the chain action at the start. Looks like this gonna be another wrestling classic. I like seeing tag team moves from Parker and Carter. Also love the storytelling from Sanctum the way Fraser hit big moves and kept brining his opponent to his corner. The little things is making me happy. Looks like Sanctum has the upper hand yet TWC is still battling. Tonight has shown just because you're in the lead that you'll get the win. With that said, Sanctum was just too much in the end. Solid match!

Baxter dies and I was sad, not gon' lie. But Mantis made a statement there. The Mantis look is very unique. Interested to see more.

8. Mark Reese vs. Maxx Edwards

Another storied championship in OCW. Looking forward to seeing this match. Edwards on a strong run as champion, but Reese has the pedigree to let him know this win ain't coming free. Reese so far taking advantage of his oppportunity here pretty dominant. Maxx is a fighting champion though With it not looking good, he still holding up. Multiple pin attempts by Reese, but Maxx still fighting. Strong showing from Reese and congrats on your first singles championship.

9. Parca vs. H2O

Now we getting down to the nitty gritty. Personally been looking forward to this match. H2O Gotta kill this man for putting hands on his moms. But maybe Parca got smoke for him to. I am excited to see how this goes down. Love seeing wrestlers going for their first show. Especially at a PPV. Loving the size up from chain wrestling and Parca smacking him. Again, the storytelling. H2O has getting his moves in, but Parca is as well love that he's working the arms. So far match is pretty even, imo. Now Parca has the adrenaline pumping. He's starting to feel it. He worked the arms And wow! Parca gets the win! Congrats on getting your cherry popped, playa!

Sensation really gasses up stuff, but this was absolutely premium matches top to bottom. For a selfish reason, I'm happy that it happened at Certified Greatness! To all who had a part in this hats off to y'all. I am serious. This shit was really like that. I am so, so proud of y'all. I am not always around sure, but when I do watch and I've been watching the last few shows, yall have been the best.

SIDENOTE: For those (And Sensation) for why I didn't show up to the PPV. I am honored that Certified Greatness is still running in OCW. I hope that this PPV can run forever. For again, a selfish reason to leave a small part of my legacy in OCW. Regardless of those who know what Certified Greatness means or don't. I don't want to be that guy who just continuously shows up just for the CG PPV with a segment, then goes back to watching. I am glad the PPV can stand on its own. And that the current wrestlers are the stars of the show, if that makes sense. If I disappointed you for not showing up, my apologies. But you have not seen the last of Greatness on OCW television, I'll assure you that.

Sensation and Jake on the mic is god tier. Y'all really need to put y'all foot on 2K's neck to sponsor OCW in some way. To continue to grow the live space. Y'all are really amazing. Lastly, 2K19 had a great send off. And has served OCW well. I can't wait to see what y'all do with 2K22 and beyond.

Keep it playa, OCW <3

I don’t think I’d ever will time Furiosa’s music and her dance to the beat in rhythm ever again lol. That was hard.

But that promo was to show the confidence Flo has as champion until an old foe of hers she feared most shows up. We felt that there’s too many beat down videos the last incredibly long lately so we too a soft approach that left the viewers wanting more from Flojo more so than me.

Apparently it did but in a negative way for some. More content on the way for sure with these two.

I'M THE PAST THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE!
