Jimmy is an average kid. He lives in Omaha, Nebraska....an average town. He wakes up every morning to the sound of his alarm clock blaring into his ear. Like a normal kid, Jimmy showers, brushes his teeth, and gets his clothes ready for another long day at school.
He passes through the day, dreaming. Dreaming about his future. Dreaming about his PASSION. He dreams about being a wrestler, and not just any wrestler. Not just a wrestler who breezes through life on $50 paychecks. Not just a wrestler who is content wrestling for a company that can't even afford health care for their talent.
No, Jimmy dreams of being an OCW Superstar. Every day after class is done and over with, he rushes home, just to check the site. OCWFED.com. He browses through the classic videos, watches old shows and PPV's, and even chats online with more people like him. People who are inclined to watch OCW every single week.
Now, even though Jimmy thinks OCW has gone....somewhat down hill since its glory days, he believes that someday, the new generation of OCW will bring that glory back. The glory of yesteryear. He is hopeful...hopeful for the next Nate Ortiz, for the next Nick Kage...even for the next Danny Williams.
The thing about this is...when Jimmy rushes home to browse through the elusive OCW website...he'll find something...graphic. Something that will keep his mind wandering.
The bell rings, and Jimmy rushes out of his seat, and dashes out of the door. He runs down the steps of Brownell-Talbot High School, running, and bumping passed everyone and anyone.
Jimmy finally arrives at his house, out of breath. His neighbor, Rolando, notices Jimmy, like he always does, running home with unbound enjoyment. Rolando waves to him, and Jim waves back. He walks up the front steps to his house, lifts up the 'Welcome' mat, and picks up the key his mother leaves for him every morning, before she goes to work.
He pushes open the door, takes the key out, walks in, and slams the door shut behind him. He throws the keys onto the end table. Jimmy runs up the stairs as fast as he can, takes off his back pack, and quickly unzips his Northface jacket. He throws the jacket onto the bed, and moves his mouse, to take his computer out of sleep mode.
He opens up Google Chrome, and types in OCWFED.com. Like everyday, he begins browsing the site, and looking through the news slide. Before he clicks away, he notices a new video that wasn't there when he checked in the morning. A video entitled 'Open Challenge'.
Jimmy opens the video, and begins to watch the video that may just change his outlook on OCW.
The camera fades in, showing Stacy Clark sitting down in what seems to be a director's chair. The room is damply lit, and probably smells of new furniture. The sign in the back reads OCW.
Stacy's face says it all. Before she begins to speak, she puts down her coffee, and brushes the hair out of her face. She looks directly into the camera, and begins her monologue.
Stacy Clark - Greetings OCWFED.com. Greetings, fans, and even wrestlers alike. What I'm about to show you....is disturbing. Its graphic...and violent.
Stacy takes a deep breath.
Stacy Clark - So please...if you're under the age of 18, or have a weak stomach, please...do not watch this video. However, if you are an OCW employee...meaning wrestler, cameramen, even the catering guy. You are permitted to watch this. This is concerning exactly what the title says....'Open Challenge'.
The camera fades out on Stacy, and fades in on a new video. This video...is pretty bad quality. The camera is wandering around...wandering around a destute area. Almost like a ghost town. Covered in snow, the buildings seem to be decaying.
There are no cars...no people...no sense of life. There are no sounds of any kind. The snow on the ground, and around the area in general, is roughly 20 inches. The snow is unkempt, and untouched.
The night is cold, and silent. The sky is blank. There are no stars in the sky, not even a moon. Just clouds...clouds, and fog. Not before long, a noise is finally heard.
The crash of garbage cans. Garbage cans left over by the people who used to live there. The camera pans over to the right, showing the image of a man. A shirtless man crawling, and sifting through the cold, sea of snow. Blood dripping from his mouth and forehead, dripping it onto the white ground. The camera man zooms in, and the quality gets a little bit worse.
As the camera zooms in, the camera man adjusts the lens, and it becomes a bit clearer. Finally, we can see who it is, beaten, and battered. Stephen McCallum, better known as Aries, slowly tries to get to his feet. His knee's begin to tremble, and it is fairly obvious he is having a hard time breathing.
Right when he's finally able to get to his feet, he gets shoved right back down. The camera pans slowly upward, and to the left. The image of a malicious Vincent Valmont is seen. He kicks Aries directly in the ribs, causing Aries to cough up a bit of blood. Gasping for air, he begins spitting out even more blood.
Vincent Valmont - Get up! Get up you putrid excuse for a man!
Screaming at the top of his lungs, Valmont once again kicks Aries.
Vincent Valmont - Let this be the last time you ever, and I mean EVER challenge me...
Valmont quickly takes notice of the man recording everything that's happening. The camera man begins to back up, but is greeted by Valmont. Valmont signals the camera man to walk on over, and the camera guy does just that. He walks over with caution, when Valmont throws up his hand, signaling the camera man to halt.
Valmont deviously walks over to an injured Aries, and kneels down before him. He takes Aries by the hair, and rips his head up, so Aries can look at him.
Vincent Valmont - Are you listening, Aries? You KNOW what I want you to do, right?
Aries, having a hard time, shakes his head yes.
Vincent Valmont - Good. Now get the f*** up!
Valmont lifts Aries up by, slowly, by the back of his neck. Stumbling around, Aries can barely stand. Standing on 'spaghetti legs', Aries walks towards the camera. As he gets closer to the camera, you can visibly see the damage. Bruises, and blood everywhere. He goes to open his mouth, but nothing comes out of his mouth.
Vincent Valmont - SPEAK!
Aries - .....I....I....
Aries coughs up a bit of blood. He wipes it off, and looks back into the camera.
Aries - ...I can't...begin to...explain to you....how empowering it is....and how unstoppable it makes me feel...
Aries coughs again, but this time no blood. He inhales deeply, and slowly exhales. Valmont is seen in the background, watching, waiting for Aries to continue.
Aries - ....when I walk into an arena.....and I know...beyond a shadow of a doubt...
Aries again takes in another deep breath.
Aries - That I can physically dissect....beatdown...destroy...and maim.......everyone...sitting in IT. It makes me feel strong....to know....
Aries falls to the ground in pain, as Valmont angrily walks up to Aries, and lifts him up again.
Vincent Valmont - STOP being WEAK.
Aries face tells the entire story. His jaw begins to tremble, and his nostrils begin to flare. He clenches his fist, but it goes unnoticed to Valmont.
Aries - That everyone sitting at home....everyone watching....around the world. I could reduce you to tears.....reduce you to a pile of nothingness.......
...my name...is Stephen...McCallum. I am a warrior...a soldier...I encompass all...that is VIOLENCE...
Aries takes another breather, before he begins his next line of words.
Aries - ...I am here tonight...to issue an open challenge. An open challenge...to anyone. Anyone in OCW....anyone that watches...OCW. Anyone...who has the balls....to face me.
Aries closes his eyes, looking in severe pain. He's saying these words, trying to believe them. He opens his eyes, and begins again.
Aries - ..anyone who can step toe to...toe...with me!
Valmont is smiling in the background, rubbing his black Gucci gloves together to keep warm.
Aries - ..just know...I am not here...to tell you how good I am....I am here...to tell you...that I will crush...your spirit. I will break...your soul. Whomever....accepts this open challenge...you will know the meaning of pain...
...it doesn't matter if I win...because the only thing that matters...is the complete, and total destruction of whomever I will....be facing. I will snap you...in HALF!!
Aries coughs again, and yet again falls to his knee's in pain. Before Valmont makes a step, Aries tries to make it to his feet himself. He trembles back to an upright position, and stares into the camera.
Aries - ...But...now...at least...you all have a champion...you can be proud of. A champion....who isn't afraid...to go the distance. A champion...who will never miss a single show.....a champion...who can be distinguishable between the....monsters...and the frauds..
...and now that Mayhem....is no longer champion...there is only one person...who can entertain you...who can save you from your dull, downward...spiraling lives...and unlike Mayhem....he's...built to last...so...if you're going to emulate...any OCW superstar...the choice is clear.
Before Aries finishes his forced speech....he looks over to Valmont with contempt. He flares his nostrils again, and shuts his eyes, before he speaks.
Aries - Its the choice...of a new generation........and this new generation's name....
Aries stops yet again, as Valmont looks over.
Vincent Valmont - Finish it! Tell them!
Aries - ...this new generation's name is...
Aries, still having trouble finishing the sentence, looks as if he wants to cry. His lower lip trembling, he finally utters the final words of his speech.
Aries - ...Vincent....Valmont...
As Aries finally finishes, he falls again to his knee's as Valmont walks up the camera, slowly clapping, and letting out a maniacle laugh. He walks up to Aries, and shoves him over. Aries lay in the snow, as Valmont's sadistic smile fades from his face.
Vincent Valmont - You heard this mediocre man correctly, OCW....an open challenge. As Stephen McCallum said, this is open to EVERYONE. Legends, rookies, and current OCW stars. Before the camera man can turn off his camera, Valmont can be seen throwing a punch. The camera falls over, and all that can now be seen is white static. The camera fades out, fading back in to a worrying Stacy Clark.
Stacy Clark - Well...as you all of seen...there has been an Open Challenge for the OCW World Heavyweight Championship, and...
Before she continues her sentence, she puts her index finger to her upper lip, nodding her head 'no'. She gets up, and quickly walks off the set, as the camera finally fades out, and the video ends with the OCW logo.
As an ad plays, and an old classic is next up in the playlist, Jimmy continues to stare at the screen. Frightened about what he just witness, begins wondering if his career in wrestling...just isn't for him. A tear rolls down his eye, as the front door is heard being opened. From downstairs, his mother calls out his name. Jimmy runs down the stairs, and quickly grabs his mother.
Mother - What's wrong, James?
Jimmy, not uttering a word, just quiety thinks to himself....
