v2: I hope people read this, I wrote it twice, and I'm a slow typer.
So I'm watching this episode, thinking this is great what is everyone moaning about? Then I got to the last page, and I'm like: Oh I see, I get it.
Honestly though, that is bad booking. The sort of surprise (!!!) booking that I've come to expect from Turmoil in the lead up to PPVs. What I will say though, is someobdy must have written Madison's part in that last RP. So maybe D's rant is a bit of quality forum fabe. Apologies for peering behind the curtain, here. If I'm wrong, apologies D.
The bit about DB & Ed being ranked no. 1 & 2, I must have missed - I've missed some shows. The Turmoil 5 are not "a thing" - its your mental creation.
Anyway, the match itself. When Ding won his match last week, and I saw that he was coming up against (fellow super-heavyweight) Big Ed, there was only one outcome of that match for me. I was hoping for this ending so much, that I was expecting it. I was expecting it so much, that I would have been disappointed if I never got it. I was not disappointed. I still think the whole thing could have been written to allow Big Ed to go through, and we could have had our Lution rematch as next week's ME.
Anyway moving on, here is my sickeningly-positive, good-vibes review:
* Plenty of RPs on the homepage, good content. Nice tag match, just a shame we can't do them with fast momentum, because all tag matches end up taking longer than 20 mins. And I tend to skip through long matches. Still the RPs relating to this match were strong as well, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming Undisputed Women's Championship match.
* Gents Club RP – hitting terminally ill kids is a bit strong for me, but I've enjoyed the dark comedy, & continuity of this story. Always appreciate Jack's trash talking of the roster, and I'm a fan of the dynamic between the 2 guys.
* Great win for Seb – nothing to feel bad about there. After 2 failed pins after finishers, it's fair game. When I get back in the ring, if I manage to hit 2 finishers in a match, I am going to school-boy, sleeper-hold & scoop-slam you until the match is over, and I won't be doing apologetic post-match RPs to explain myself. No worse than a dirty pin or finisher-with-a-pin. Matches have got to end.
* Loki is back with his offensively stereotyped accent. And he is going to solve the mystery of the over-the-top cartoon death of Axton. Yay! :[
* Shoutout to Cactus & Dustin. My main peeve is guys (especially new ones) not getting booked for consecutive weeks. Sometimes, it sort of feels like nobody cares about retaining new guys or keeping them interested (kid gloves aren't always a bad thing at first). I refer you to the awful-awful-awful booking of next week's Turmoil 131. Anyway, well done on the initiative, it’s a big FUCK YOU to the lazy booking. Other than Cactus' springboard moonsault to the outside (ditch that immediately) this was a great match for 2 rookies.
* Dennis vs Skull2: Good match. Dennis should have taken a leaf out of Seb's book and finished this early after finisher kickout 2. Anyway, onwards and upwards, triple duty is still a possibility.
* Pretty much every match had a pre-match RP on this show. Good effort.
* This is the bit where people go "I won't comment on my own stuff", but so fuck. My training montage was fucking great. It takes me ages to make these little 2 min vids, but I enjoy doing it so fuck it. Where's my Oscar? Only thing that took the shine off it, was Sid's weird character shift at the end of the show with Regan. Didn’t know about this when I wrote him in as my Apollo Creed.
* Plenty strong crossing over RPs with Cactus/Dennis/Ashley/Jack. Good teamwork, Jack being harsh on his self dissing these RPs – developed a story, and the characters. High standards are a good thing, but don't be too hard on yourself.
* Bray vs RD – was excited to hear RD coming to Turmoil. Didn't realise he would be so rusty, and get rolled over so easily. Still, his CAW looks slick af and Bray looks strong. Should beat Seb next week, but you never know.
* "Coming Home" video almost had me in tears. Very simple, very powerful. Welcome Home B.
* Malu keeping this feud build up. Jackson missing again – but let's not over react, the guy has been basically ever-present & consistent since November.
* Already spoke about the final match & fallout.
Anyway, I'm sad to see this become a bitch-fest, because other than the last page, I thought it was a strong show. With talking points, strong lower/mid card character development, match upsets, legend-beatings, really excellent montages, etc. ;)
Let's keep the momentum going, maybe need to get creative with alts & rookies to counteract T131's "card". Anyway enough whinging, come on, positivity guys!
