I have a question for you Cody, what will you do if you DON't win the world title on Riot?

If i may be so bold as to turn this question into what will he do if he wins it?

Win - YAY FINALLY DONE IT... Oh nobody wants to break out of their already established plans to feud with me given a sketchy track record of feuds. What do I do?

Lose - Oh. Nobody wants to work with me because I don't even have the free World Title shot to offer them. I've gone on about it so long that I now look silly. Umm...

The way I see it, theres so little momentum here what I'm genuinely baffled as to what Cody does in either scenario. I don't see myself chasing the title if I lose it, because I've worked with Cody before and I'm working with Dims (Who granted I've worked with before but I've been able to go back to the well as he's a complete character).

Do all roads point to a Cody vs Trance/KD/D-Jack match at Road 2 Glory in this instance?

But then what? Where do we go from here? You've suddenly got guys "lower down" the card doing better work than the perceived "main event" of the time, meaning that suddenly we're in a weird situation where people are leaving the arena early so they don't hit traffic instead of watching a compelling main event with a well built angle leading up to it. Most of the OCW audience at large loves to see an interesting match - gamebattles this is not.

This is the problem that OCW poses. We're not a competition fed, but we're not fully roleplaying... so what happens when somebody with a sketchy record of feuding (Not quality, but definitely quantity) is handed a World Title match that, I won't skirt around the issue, he could potentially win?

Where does OCW go from there? Does it become purely competition based as this potential World Champion has already admitted he has minimal interest in building storylines? Do we actually abandon the element of OCW that makes it different and just have a line of people queuing up for title shots based on perceived in game merit? Because then we have exactly the same issue of "The same guys" in and around the picture.

Dis... Cuss...

Well it happened with Trips were eventually Jay put him in more and more difficult matches to tear his competitive nature to the point he lost and then obviously the Danegate. No point in bringing my name up, I hVe literally no reason to work with Cody, even if I get free title shot lolz, I'm going to have some fun with Raze.

But yes, beating the best given the character Cody has leaves him at a stand still. Unless he fights the bests of the past? But that could be a whitewash as returnin legends has been done to death... I smell a Leonheart return personally.

You were just a random example, but from that you brought up Trips. Trips was hella good on the sticks i'm led to believe, but for some reason people on the roster class his era as "The dark ages". That's exactly the mindset that we've avoided for a long time. The most recent Champions (as far back as Aries 2 years ago) were all interested in working storylines over winning matches. They wanted/want to have fun with OCW, the title didn't define them, they defined the title with their hard work and their ability to turn their hand to working with anybody.

If all you desire is the title, then what do you do when you have it? Can you carry a feud on your poor aching shoulders like countless champions before you, or will you just be content with somebody doing all the work and you turning up to beat them in 4 minutes?

I know which bracket 90% of OCW fits into.

If that's how everyone feels about the situation then please change the Riot card. I'm not looking to kill interest in the Main Events or anything of that nature. I'd rather the community go about what they want to see and if that means less of me that's fine, I'll find something else to do or I'll do nothing and focus more on my life outside of OCW.

Well, lord knows it's good having a World Champ with X-Pac heat. Just look at how excited everyone is to see Orton main eventing Mania.

The trips example was on the basis people watched his matches to see if anyone was good enough to stop him, I should have elaborated on that.

As for only turning up to do matches within a feud... I don't find that fun personally but I know Cody enjoys writing and CAN write, so maybe it's a case of letting him have the ball and seeing if he can run with it, if he can't then the OCW tradition of a structured multi man match to get the belt off of him can be used in the future giving his character something to talk about regardless of the outcome.

Adapt or die.
