Trevor McManus Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I don't tell people to grow up. If we didn't argue there'd be no fun. I also don't do the snide markout thing. I hardly ever markout for anyone. If I want to say something I'll say it rather than waiting for someone else to say it then markout. http://positivesharing.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/complaining.jpg [23:39] locoNY911: You get solace in the fact you arent a fuck up. 2k9's better than 2k8. Aries Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Ahh, that's good for you, you learned a new word, snide.
Nick Kage Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I feel i need to say something while i am a busy man it sad to see a place i helped build come to this. Sure i peek around here and there but as you know I have not played svr in a long time. now here is whats wrong with ocw from my eyes. this entire thread is whats wrong with OCW if you just read it as an example. look at you guys... not 3 posts can go by without people bitching or talking shit. Ill tell you what is killing ocw no it is not OCF and it is not SVR Its the group of people left in OCW. Members some people think everyone here ows them something. they think they are worthy of so much respect when they are basically a huge negative jackass. How does this hurt OCW? well who wants to comment on a show when these people will just flame it. Who wants to read the forums when they will just bitch and moan. If anything it drives people away. Alts. Alts kill ocw why? because you can not focus on one character and make then interesting when you are working on 2 or 3 half ass ones. When i had Kage and Takunashi... I couldn't do it. it was to much and lead to burn out... SO i dropped takunashi and gave Kage 100% focus and he had the best year ever in OCW. Creativity. The people here in OCW are not creative when it comes to Rp's When was the last time 2 people got together on AIM hashed out a cool story idea and made it happen? What can you do to make things interesting? I did kidnapping, I almost raped and abused AJ's wife. I went from Super face to super heel then had huge feuds with my ex faction mates... I kept my mouth shut when an idea was happening so i didn't spoil it... I dressed up as a president for longer then 1 week to raise interest.. I had best of 7 matches for the HC title. I put my career on the line. Come on guys you are all wrestling fans THINK!!! Kage originally had mutton chops and a hair i didn't just change my look on a whim ever 2 weeks. NO NO i had reasons. Change number 1 when i first went heel no more long tights and no more mutton chops. then change 2 when i got the dime bag dropped to the money bomb off the HIAC - coma and head shaven grew beard in hospital.. change 3 after i was MIA and i was the secret member of SWO my attire change one last time. YOU SEE HOW IT ALL BUILDS MY CHARACTER and happens at appropriate times and is believable? Characters. All that is left in OCW are the second teir characters. You guys couldn't do anything exciting when Nate VS Kage AJ Mayhem Sideshow Majin MMM Steve BOLD ect ect ect... were here. What makes you think you can not change a thing and suddenly handle what the top guys used to? You all wanted the ball and when it was left to you... you did nothing. You have to realize that OCW takes time and effort from you, because its not just about the game but about the character you create. and if its a HHH rip off, or a Boring Black Detective, or a sting wanna be. that wont do it... I had a original story about my character that would be used in and out of his RP's my characters origins were always present in my RP's i was aware of who i was building. Effort. If you do not write up at least 1-2 hours worth of RPs a week you will not be a major player. Im sorry but its true. Quality. sure you can be creative but it also needs to be good. it needs ot make sense and be realistic. Your wrestlers are characters in a story you are writing. Kage was my leading actor in a play i had in my head and every storyline had to fit the personality i had in mind. Kage was a face for a long time but what made him a super heel was he was never as pure as nate was or as lovable as as nate. Its why Nate never made a good heel. You need to create quality. Brainstorm Bounce ideas around with people you trust for feedback and LISTEN TO THEM. I don't know how many times VS Nate and myself would talk about ideas on AIM or majin and me woudl chat about ideas or me and steve or guy. If your creating ideas in a vacuum they will suffer. Attitude. Take it from a guy who had a terrible attitude at one point. If you respond to threads like a dick you wont help a single things here. why? all you will do is make new members want to leave. Merge OCF and OCW under one Online website. I think online championship gaming should be created with sub forms for OCW and OCF under it even COD2, madden, fifa.... why because you will now have members who may want to play all the games join up to each league and guys who play UFC who may want to play SVR will have a one stop shop for it. OCF has some OCW guys still in it but not many. I have been inactive in OCF for a while now because of work and the game got a tad stale but the community while large is in good shape mostly because its alot different then OCW because all you have to do is fight and submit no storylines are needed. That is why OCW needs the effort without it you have what you have today... OCW is what you make of it and when you see it in this shape you only have yourselves to blame. SVR10 is out soon and take my advice if you act like elitist jerk offs who are so much better then anyone else your new members wont stay. Things have changed and e-fed fans are fewer then ever so if you find them welcome them, help them, work with them, use them to build the community back up. You guys are the core of it but you have to fix your issues and act better. to your community members "When you're pushed... Killing is as easy as breathing!" http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/766/kagebannernv9.png http://www.selectmediafestival.org/2006/oct21.jpg
Mayhem Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 i couldn't have said it any better. The only thing here is that the people left will markout for you, agree with you, but do nothing. I just dare them to prove us wrong. https://t.me/pump_upp
Wesley Adams Poe Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I mark because alot of what kage says is true. The fact is we do have to work...i do wonder who he was calling a sting ripoff tho:( I hope not I, and I think i've been one of the least judgemental people here, when i am here, but at the same rate i do try to assert my oppinion in a constructional way and i'll try to continue that, but like Kage has said we need work, that includes me...i'm working on it...and even tho some of the stuff i've done i know isn't completely original, it isn't for the lack of my own idea's but more so an inspiration that fuels my idea's, i know theres tons of things in life we look at and we're like hmm, i like that I think if it was this way it could have been done better tho, and thats all i'm saying is sometimes that can be true, in hindsight tho Kageis right, we haven't been making much better, and were fooling ourselves as the new guys on the block if we think we're getting along just the same, i remember my goal was to be up there where kage and nate were and smythe was one of my inspirations cause i remember beating his ass in a b....actually c-rated fed before working the nerve to come here, but he beat me too it, and he worked hard to get where he is which is main event, which we all need to work up to as well, Honestly though i enjoyed all the old guys, i don't want them to comeback and save our asses and make this stuff great again thats the last thing i want, it needs to be if they decide to comebacks it's to challenge themselves to comeback and compete at the highlevel or even an higherlevel than they did before, where it can truly be a clash of the titans, with the New Megastar of OCW and A legend, like Nate or Kage, Majin or the Steve or Versus or RD, and any of the others. I'm not gonna tell anybody else what they need to do tho, cause i haven't been doing it right myself, all i can start doing is trying to show it. http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/2/Hooray2.gif 2009 Season: Singles Record:3/2/0 Tag (Including Handicaps):0/0/0 Gimmick Matches:Trip.Threats:0/1/0 Championship Matches: Total:3/3/0 Career Achievements: Dual Champ. The Guy Fausto Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Enthusiasm is contagious. Boredom is also contagious. I'ma elaborate on the character thing Kage said. I've been in a bit of slump recently myself. This slump mirrrors the slump of OCW. I wonder why I continue to bother instead of throwing the towel in constantly. I like wrestling. I like it as a medium for storytelling. E-fedding is basically, as nerdy as it sounds, Dungeons and Dragons: Pro Wrestling Edition. You just use a horrible video game instead of a twenty sided die. But like a D&D game, you can have the most interesting character in the world, but you'll still have a miserable time if everyone is generic as hell. This is my call to create something more. I encourage people to come up with something better. It's hard to be original when everything has been done, but originality is simply stealing someone elses' idea, fidgeting with it, and making your own. Majin. If you boil it down to the simplest of terms, you have antisocial sociopath. So? Raven's done it. There's been lots of other bad brooding imitation characters. Majin made it his own by adding his own twist - delusions of grandeur, cackling like mad, and whatever. Get me some characters. I can't tell most of you apart, because you've given me no reason to care. Everyone seems to be serious wrestling guy, or just people who were never hugged enough as children. We have way too many damn heels. it's harder to be loved than hated I know, but who's going to care when two heels meet? AJ and Kage feuded, but AJ was quickly turned face by default. AJ knew someone had to be the good guy. Evolve more naturally. I see radical changes for no reason. Some could say I dropped the hobo abruptly, but that was a decision of circumstance. When you switch constantly, it confuses people and makes them lose interest in your character. My current character is an extension of Guy despising OCW. He wants it to fail. And when he sees it weak, he celebrates its apparent demise. But OOC, it's a call to prove Guy Fausto wrong. Prove that the place isn't a shell of its former self. Show him up. Give him comeuppance. As I said, you don't have to be an out there character. You can take influences from your favorite wrestlers, blend them together. Again, I'll flat out admit I'm borrowing heavily from Chris Jericho's WWE gimmick from last year - an asshole who tells something that's actually true to an extent, just said in a completely jackass manner. But I applied Guy's complete hatred for the company to it, made it relevent. Er go, it becomes 'influenced by' instead of flatly ripped off. Get those creative juices flowing. Do something different. Be entertaining - you don't have to be funny, you don't have to be violent, because entertaining is a broad word. The golden age of OCW was when there were so many entertaining characters running around, people wanted to see more than one match. This current crop either has it in them, or we're just going to continue to whimper, peter out, and die. Just like the character of Guy Fausto says. Prove Guy wrong. Make it fun again, rather than an excercise in futility.
K.Dangelo Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Alts. do hurt sometimes more than help and I already know myself and the rest of B.L are gonna do everything to keep this place afloat. If we have to play the role Koslov and Jackson(me and Bax)while Wesley is Regal going for titles as long as its a good show and everyone stays interested. Chris Ryder Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 interesting swerve in this thread... Woah, where did you come from? Anyway, Guy hit the nail on the head. That's basically how anyone should go about coming up with a fresh gimmick, you take someone else's idea and screw around with it enough, until it becomes your own freaky piece of mold.
Wesley Adams Poe Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Well thats what i was saying too...i glad guy agrees haha, it's myfault i suppose tho, i'm basically still a new guy in the fed because of all the times i've had to leave and comeback however, i don't plan on doing that anytime soon, and also my character is evolving all the while, but thats hapenned more than i planned mostly because of all the plans i've had i got beat to by so many of my peers because of the leaving and coming back, tho now i have another set path i plan to i'm sticking to and gonna alter in a few ways every now again to go with certain things as well, but i think if you look at poe i've kept the same basic theme all the while, i've gone to certain extremes but i believe the idea remains the same, so i have some ideas i'm gonna work here in the future and i hope people will enjoy them, but more than anything i plan on being another source of activity. http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/2/Hooray2.gif 2009 Season: Singles Record:3/2/0 Tag (Including Handicaps):0/0/0 Gimmick Matches:Trip.Threats:0/1/0 Championship Matches: Total:3/3/0 Career Achievements: Dual Champ.
