Summercide 2020 - Night 1 & 2

Got the chance to watch bits of night two live so here is some hot takes

 

The ladder match was great, it had everything it was supposed to have in my opinion. Funny spots and botches like the double ladder jumps, carnage all over the place and legit “he must be dead” moments too. It also showed all the limitations of the actual game for the way it is programmed. For example, Doc hit a piledriver on Ant ON A FUCKING LADDER, but since technically it was a reversal the game pretty much no sold it. Obviously it didn’t take anything away from the match itself, it’s just something funny that came up to my mind. It was long but imho it made sense because a) they legit wanted to kill each other more than the title b) made sense as the escalation of a blood feud/final chapter c) it was the opener so I didn’t feel like it dragged.

 

 

The Pride title match was great, fast paced, hard hitting moves and over all a very fluid but highly competitive match. Aisu tried to mount some sort of comeback towards the end but he never really seemed like he could pull this one off. Their move sets made this match unique to watch and entertaining. One of the better ones of night 2 for sure.

 

 

Tag Match was fun to watch even though it lacked the OMG moments the ladder match had, for obvious reasons give the stipulation. Noticed some people saying that a thing that affected it was not being super evenly matched but COMP IS COMP and CAW IS CAW, otherwise we would be getting tired of super close back and forth matches all the time too. Other than that it was enjoyable. Props to HUSA for the amazing attires phew they were great.

 

 

As for Matteo, even though I understand what he was trying to do with that black paint, the end result took me away from the actual match a bit because it was involuntarily funny. We have a ton of talented creators ( not me) and a fuckton of assets so someone could probably help pull off a realistic “burned” CAW if that’s what you are going to stick to from here on out.

 

The HIAC itself is incredibly hard to pull it off and keep it entertaining because of the way the game is programmed that makes the transitions between ring and top of the cell incredibly forced and awkward to look at, that’s why I wouldn’t criticize too much the match itself because I feel like the feud was amazing and both Matteo and Caine have been tremendously consistent with their work. Also that ending sequence with Kass left me wondering… are we going to see a return? Lol

 

Ashley and Debbie was what it needed to be. A good, competitive, back and forth match. Great attire from both, especially Debbie. I really like the entrance and the details that have been added to the caw. Ashley’s promo was a nice touch, I loved it, simple but to the point.

 

I don’t remember exactly where Grimm’s promo was but I’ll put it here. Leo is a very talented creator, he constantly surprises us with a unique promo style that fits him and his caw. Interested to see what is going to happen now with this new character.

 

Ortiz Aries was amazing, probably MOTN contender along with the Pride match. A lot of amazing spots and the ending sequence was simply amazing, I didn’t even know you could pull a major off an OMG moment up until now. Fun stuff, and props to whoever did that green screen promo, I can’t imagine how much time it took.

 

Man, Rust finally did it as H2O goes out after an amazing, record breaking reign that will be remembered for a while. Honestly I don’t even know what to say about the match itself. Congratulations to Rust for what was a long time coming achievement. And that post match reveal scene DOE ������

Amazing show from top to bottom guys. I thoroughly enjoyed every single match, and Jake. Your commentary is beautiful. What a fucking show, and Doc/Everett was possibly my favorite match of the night.

first of all thank you for the feed, edo. Second, I explain it better because my explanation on discord was actually very quick and inaccurate. The idea was to come back as a "demon", as far as Cide's match was concerned, after what happened to consequence. Not that it helps much, because objectively I could get more as a final result, but the skin color wanted to be "painted", and not really black. I don't know if I've made the concept clear, but I'll definitely try to make it more realistic next time.

Thank you, that means a lot coming from someone as skilled and creative as yourself, I think you all will like Nate Mac if given a better fitting CAW for OCW since I could rarely get a DM let alone a Storyline. I had a lot of fun with Jehst and had hoped our Lution build and performance would get more people wanting to work with me, but alas Leo hasn’t been in a PPV appearance, and with the match B and I had that should have at least built some steam, but finally I said fuck it, guess Leo wil have to go and enter the IceMan Nate Fuggin Mac

NIGHT ONE

 

Wrex has a Doctors visit.

 

Mr. Turmoil to be frank is fucked up. He's been nonstop going for almost 4 years straight at this point. Multiple championship reigns, high caliber feuds, and so many brutal wars is finally catching up to the cornerstone of Turmoil. We even seen the humanity side of Wrex in this promo with him coming to terms that it might be time for him to step away from the ring for some time in the nearby future. This makes me extremely sad but I know when Mr. Turmoil does finally decide to lace his boots up again he will be better than ever.

 

Mugen, Dupree, and Spider

 

Interdimensional calling on ZAM, seems cool. Just ends off with Spider not expecting to see them over there let's see where it takes us.

 

Tre Post Match Promo

 

Short and sweet promo by Tre. Really dig it thinks it sent a clear message, he wants another shot at one of the top prizes in OCW. Doesn't matter which man is champion at that current time but Tre wants his shot one more time at the World Title. Interesting can't wait to see where it goes for him.

 

Jehst shooting on Quartz

 

Short and sweet by the Hollywood Stud. Jehst never fails to entertain with his promos really solid read and I enjoyed it good work.

 

Flojo pity party & 4th wall break

 

I don't know this was just a mad random promo. I get it Flojo is upset by losing but mentioning a new finisher, and then going on a small rant about people leaving then pressing triangle? meh idk.

Tucker Post Match Promo

 

Pretty self explanatory, Tucker kinda bobbing and weaving around the questions. Only thing that didn't make sense to me is how he explained the handshake, you're an asshole heel you don't shake the hand of a dude you betrayed after months long of friendship and all those dick head moves. But I mean you do you boo good write.

First and foremost drop that B-List Bad Boy, not a fan of that whatsoever, just rings like a bad mixture of Jehst & Joey Janela. Second, think you should've just done the explanation on Riot as it'll still be fresh to the viewers at that time whereas on Turmoil it'll probably be like an "oh right that happened" sorta thing. But good effort Maxx.
