Riot 540 Complete Super Long Show Review!

 

THIS IS NOT A JAB AT ANYBODY or ANYONES angle I know I am not the most informed when it comes to shows due to my fault but since the season is winding down and finishes are more than likely happening I commented on what I saw that is really it I enjoyed every piece of writing and every match on this show so I just thought I add this little extra bit cause I don't want anyone thinking I don't care about their stuff.

 

B17/Cort/H2O Promo:

Ahh ya gotta love B17 and his shenanigans of dissing the crowd. Then here comes Cort the man of the hour who had his moment stolen from him and you can tell he is pissed. As the two drama birds begin to nag at one another out comes the head rookie himself H2O popping up on the screen to rub in the salt. Both men clearly can be seen being pissed off that the champ is on the X-Tron sipping away on alcoholic beverages being happy as can be. It’s only a matter of time before Cort makes his move with that FI briefcase but who will get to Harvey first? Or better yet who will get to him last?

 

Blaine/Stacy Clark Promo:

I don’t really know too much about Blaine but clearly she is the bitch. Or well.. I wouldn’t fully say the bitch because she doesn’t have the women’s title but that’s besides the point. Clearly, Blaine is not a fan of the current standing in the women’s division and seems more like an annoyed parent that their kids are doing what they want how they want. Either way she’s giant and I wouldn’t wanna piss her off.

 

Match #1 KAT vs La Estrellaz Fugaz:

What a solid damn show opener. I thought this match had some really good back and forth between both women and honestly didn’t know who would win. I had Kat going over for awhile but by gawd Estrellaz Fugaz really pulled a horseshoe out of her ass and came out on top. Very solid match I like the work the women's division has been putting out lately super good job y’all!

 

Odon Klein Promo:

God damn this guy can make a good caw and write a nice ass promo. I’m a huge fan of the hitman gimmick for sure it’s so dope. I think regardless of the outcome with what happens this guy can always pose a threat. He’s this big toned guy that can cause a can of whoop ass and also give you a solid concussion with a bat too!

 

Leo Grimm Promo:

On a technical note, I love the fact that both of their promos are back to back. I fuck with it heavy and think it really added great to the flow of the show. Leo yet again is showing no matter what whether he wins or loses he can write a damn good promo. I am such a huge fan of his character as well (Rookies stay together damnit you can’t tell me othewise!) but seriously his promos are always such good reads and I cannot wait to see where his character goes from here.

 

CQC/Thomas Archer/The Uncrowned Segment:

I didn’t wanna put promo because of the sick video work as well. BUT LETS GO WE GOT CQC ON RIOT WOOO BEST TAG TEAM EVER!!! Anyways, I think this would be a rather interesting time for the champs right now. What haven’t they done? They beat everybody and the competition is slimming down I think with The Uncrowned & possibly Archer/Nicolas getting involved this could freshen up the division. Either way, I most definitely want Uncrowned v CQC again please? PRETTY PLEASE!

Ashley Moore/Empress Promo:

Wow Ashley is uh pretty shook eh? And of course, Empress is just reconfirming that she is completely unstable and not suitable to work at OCW! We need proper mental evaluations at this place but then again Turmoil would probably be gone if that was the case. Poor Ashley, getting bullied by Empress must not be the most exciting thing in her life currently.

 

Estrella/Blaine Promo:

So, I will admit I don’t know what’s really going on here but I am digging it. Seeing Estrella try and prove herself to this big brute Blaine while yet of course Blaine being a dick head is rather interesting. I think it would be cool if down the line we saw these two lock up and see who really would come out victorious in the long run.

 

Match #2 El Parca & Aisu vs Odon Klein & Leo Grimm:

Yet again, I won’t review my own stuff that’s for y’all to do.

 

Nate Ortiz/Drago Cesar Promo:

Wow, look at Nate & Drago. Making the business better one day and one wish at a time. Their match at Summercide is gonna probably be MOTN tbh depending on what other surprises are in store. But ya know we got two GOATs just doing some very kind/cool charity work making kids smile no one can hate on that b.

 

TY Sparks/Sean/B17 Promo:

Yet another thing that I don’t fully get here. Why did my mans just go and try to be a good Samaritan by returning the glasses just to steal the whole vest. That vest better be worth it TY cause if B finds out you stole then I’m sure you’re in a world of trouble my friend.

 

Odon Klein/Leo Grimm Video Segment:

Odon really knows how to work magic with his videos. But by god did anyone else feel that bat shot to the head as well? Leo definitely is not gonna be going into Savage Saturday 100% after that my lord that just seemed awful. Who knows what else the hitman is willing to bring to the table this Saturday as well!

 

Dragana Cesar & Squad Promo:

Well I’m assuming we have some psychopath running around attacking all the members of Dragana’s group. Obviously this is an ongoing investigation where Johnny seems to be rather upset that he can’t quite put his finger on who is doing these vicious attacks but what else can he do? As time will tell hopefully he can figure it out and bring said perpetrator to light and make them get their justice served.

 

TMCJ/Mark Reese Promo:

Fuck Joopiter.. Anyway, we are going to see the culmination of this grudge feud that is going on. Will TMCJ walk away and prove all of the OCW Universe wrong and silence the ambitious enthusiastic Mark Reese? Or, will Mark Reese silence the oddball man and finally put Joopiter in his place like he needs to be.

 

Soloman Caine Clark Effect Segment:

This went from 0-100 real quick by gawd maggle. We have Caine throwing the mental jabs at Archer almost immediately, and then of course Mr. No One Talks About Me comes out and just throws even harder mental jabs as well. GOOD LORD! Fortnite, neckbeards, and school shootings holy fuck are we on television or some B+ tv channel. Our distributor is probably gonna call Jay and be like “uhh yea no more of that” But nonetheless that was such an interesting segment and I am curious to see how it works out for Salami.

 

Match #3 Telos vs Johnny Millionaire:

This match was a combination of a fight but also a squash at the same time at certain points. Telos was seriously whooping some mean ass but then Johnny made a monster comeback. I don’t know if the handler for Johnny isn’t too comfortable with the moveset yet but the repetition of some of the same moves did kinda make me go “meh” but that is just personal stuff. The ending I will say was completely unexpected and I thought one of them would’ve won clean. Either way I am interested to see how Johnny Millionaire’s career plays out.

 

AC Cobra/Our Hero Promo:

HELL YEA. This was just fucking gold start to finish, you can literally hear both guys saying shit exactly like this ESPECIALLY due to the most recent desk. Ah man this was probably the best promo on the show for me and I’m all for this please give me more Cobra/Our Hero interactions. I want merch, cups, lollipops everything damn it give the fans what they want!

 

H2O Promo:

I clearly have missed some shit in the couple years I’ve been gone. My mans has his own yacht, and private jet? Damn Jay you really are dropping crazy money for the boys out here. That patreon money is probably paying for the jet fuel isn’t it? H2O also needs to stop drinking that nasty devil water and drink regular water you lightweight. Anyways I am curious on what this awful news is that’s for sure.

 

Johnny Millionaire Promo:

Easy Johnny baby easy. No need to go screaming and yelling at everybody. We get it Telos is a monster of a man and doesn’t smell good, doesn’t mean you gotta hit the man in the family jewels. Goodness this guy is just out here sweating a storm before he even gets back to film his $5 adult film in San Fran. Also, have no idea who the other two guys were sorry about that.

Drago & Nate Promo #2:

The friendly competition between the two is humorous. I can’t wait to see what these two bring to the table at Summercide yet again. Also as I said before we got two GOATS making kids happy man ain’t nothing cooler than that.

 

Aerith & Elsa Promo:

I’ll be completely honest here I remember reading where the diner got all messed up but it didn’t really catch my attention then and it is kinda spoiled for me so I won’t be saying much about this. No disrespect to those working this angle at the moment but it just doesn’t catch my interest.

 

Match #4 Antonio Everett vs Tre Golden:

Hell yea a damn good match by two damn good wrestlers. I enjoyed this match 100% bell to bell this was so good. I loved the fight feeling between both men and my god did both of them get some shit in. Antonio is out here busting down the barricades like it’s all willy nilly and we don’t have psychotic fans who will storm the ring! But damn dude this was an awesome match and both guys should be very proud of it.

 

AC Cobra Promo #2:

Not really much to say about this promo. AC Cobra doing gamer things and enjoying the luxuries of being a top star in OCW. Can’t really blame him I mean who wouldn’t wanna go and beta test a game while on the clock and getting paid amirite? Hell yeah Cobra keep doing you dawg.

 

Heather & Furiosa Promo:

Well all I really got from this was the fact that they are gonna kill Flojo? Right? I don’t know maybe I’m lost or something but don’t play nice playing nice got nobody anywhere other than a kick in the dick.

 

Wrex Promo:

Man when Wrex writes does he write. I remember when he wasn’t too fond of it and now look at him all Mr. Turmoil and about to face Malu. I am actually really pulling for him and want my guy back on top of Turmoil cause ya know.. Mr. Turmoil should also be Mr. CCW haha see what I did there? No..? Okay.. onto the match!

 

MAIN EVENT WREX VS MALU:

WOWOWOWOW WHAT A FIGHT BOYS! MALU AND WREX MADE IT LOOK TOO EASY. Seriously that was awesome. Seeing the top two guys (in my opinion) of Turmoil going at it like that was insane. I really hope this victory leads to Wrex vs Malu at Cide because damn I definitely wanna see that again. And as I said before Mr. Turmoil should and COULD possibly become Mr. CCW again! Dope ass match guys match of the night for me I am seriously impressed ggs!

 

K’Dangelo Video Segment:

Damn KD going for blood my man is making his statement loud and clear. I am curious to see how both he and H2O react to this on the next Riot.

 

Valk & Empress Promo/Video Segment:

What a way to end off a show. The fairytale queen Valk coming out to trash Bertha (rightfully so) and here comes little miss psycho Empress. Of course Empress being Empress she starts talking down to Valk and even trashing Ted (rightfully so fuck you Ted) but damn she wants a rematch! Now their first match at Consequence was a very enjoyable match and a true fight. Could Empress put an end to this fairytale dream Valk is living or will the Queen of the women’s division reign true and ride off into the sunset before the end of the season?

 

First off, I am probably never ever going to do this again. My fucking eyes hurt and I feel like I am dying on the inside. BUT, I did this because we need more discussion on the forum. Yea the discord channels are cool and instant gratification but everyone knows they love reading reviews. So I hope this quenched the thirst for those who do enjoy it I did try and review everything (Only thing I didn’t review was P3 because I’ve never read one and it was far too long for me to review at 12:30 am nah fuck that) but I tried my best and I hope that’s enough

Match #3 Telos vs Johnny Millionaire:

This match was a combination of a fight but also a squash at the same time at certain points. Telos was seriously whooping some mean ass but then Johnny made a monster comeback. I don’t know if the handler for Johnny isn’t too comfortable with the moveset yet but the repetition of some of the same moves did kinda make me go “meh” but that is just personal stuff. The ending I will say was completely unexpected and I thought one of them would’ve won clean. Either way I am interested to see how Johnny Millionaire’s career plays out.

 

One of Johnny's main character traits is that he talks a lot of shit but he ain't all that in the ring, hence why I took liberties when Telos was getting the upper hand (rolling out the ring, doing the pleading taunt, going and taunting on the corner when telos is about to get up). I'm completely aware that these things aren't giving me a competitive advantage when I do them, but I think it makes the match look better and makes Telos look more dominant.

 

As for not knowing who he's feuding with, that's on you bubba, the feud's been going on for a couple of weeks already.

Thank you. It was fun working with you both, Odon came through big with the video portions and y’all helped me out a lot in terms of calling me out on my shit (which I do honestly appreciate) and the story to me has potential to be one of those long term rivalries which could pop back off in the future. Despite all the criticism and dislike I’ve read about the “Splinter Cell” Klein, I actually thought it was dope and creative, his ownership of the character and development is perfect IMO. And I love to see him just throw people around (which is usually me in DMs ahaha) both of you really helped me and I appreciate it. Rookies unite!!! Any other rookies or anyone not havin anything goin on hit me up. I’m good for another brawl.

That’s not to take anything away from Aisu. He did his stuff and the ending was cool. I saw it comin (wink wink white shoes) but the way it unfolded was good! I liked it, so great storytelling for Parca and Aisu. And damnit Odon. Revenge!!!! That clothesline was perfect, I was hoping for the big boot but I’ll take that bump Hahahaa.

Good opener, a bit long but I'm glad to see Cort actively threatening the title. No surprise here from the great wrestling mind of Man-goose. B17's heel persona is landing a bit weird to me at the moment, feels unnatural in a way. This was a necessary, but not amazing opening show promo.

 

Why am I interested in where this Estrella/Blaine angle is headed?

 

Estrella with an insane comeback in her match, finishing with an aerial fin that I love. Shooting Star!

 

Udon/Parca/Leo are the epitome of doing OCW right as a rookie and I cannot wait for their SS match. Each of them deliver a good, short, meaningful promo not only building their stories but also making me give a fucka bout the tag match later.

 

I've criticized Ashley's story-arc in the past, but this one makes sense now. Ashley, to her credit, spent her time with Empress as the passive one, the coward heel or the jealous heel whereas Empress has always been the evil, heartless, angry heel. This naturally leads to Ashley seeing the light, as she did with Flojo and others before saving Valk, pretty natural stuff. Writing could be cleaner, but the overall story, I dig it. I just hope they don't blow their load too soon on Ash/Emp.

 

Aisu needs to tone down his entrance. As an entrance mark, I do the same shit, but as a fan I see how having mid-carder Aisu come out to this overdone entrance hurting him. Save this for a PPV or a big match. Same can be said about the other 3 guys here (Parca and Odon less-so). Your entrances are super badass, but in the context of your position on the show, you need to understand that these 2-3 minute PPV entrances can have downsides. It's harder when you're your own guy and not considering the whole show, but just a thought.

 

Holy shit Odon is a robot. As I said in the past, I didn't hate the chestpiece, the rest is an improvement, but honestly I liked the old attire/look a lot better. Doesn't turn me off of this story though, so do you, boo.

 

Nice tag team action early and some fun prodding/whiffing from Parca/Odon. Pierre's experience in tag matches shines here, especially early. Nice job from Odon attacking the illagal man, get them all involved. I actually like Aisu's new in-ring attire a lot. Draven Effect (CrossRhodes) from Aisu, should be removed from his moveset. bad tag awareness from Leo. Bump away from their corner. ooooh, Odon with the blind tag. Nice. OMG HE CLOSELINED LEO. GOOD SHIT. Leo abandons his teammate because he hit him, good fini-- oh my god lol.

 

It seemed one-sided but very good storytelling from all involved and the Aisu swerve at the end, I loved this match tbh. Nice little scene at the end, too.

Who the fuck is Sean? This was blocked a bit weird, but I gotta tell you, I love having TY on my TV. Keep improving the writing to be easier on the eyes and I'll like it more than I did. It's still keeping my interest! I AM NOT HARD TO PLEASE

 

Some of the best promo work I've seen this season from Archer in the Clark Effect. Good stuff from Solo Caine, especially holding his resume up as loss protection, but the insults and ribs from Archer stole the show here. What the fuck is going to happen with that title? SOMEONE TAKE IT FROM HIM

 

Telos new theme is so fitting. He's evolved a lot and this iteration is clean as fuck. I love the dress clothes whilst maintaining the mental size he's always had. I'm disappointed we haven't seen more of Telos this year from an RP standpoint.

 

If you think I didn't lose my shit at Johnny Millionare's Twitter Handle, you don't know me very well. Joey Ryan comes to mind for sure with this CAW, well done.

 

Holy shit Johnny is way bigger than I expected, he's like - as big as Telos. Good use of the Eddie taunt right after Telos no-sells his big move. God dammit tha's good. Ballsy move going with the Sensational Stunner, but as expected, Johnny's attire, moveset, and general vibe are all very on-point with his character. No crazy shit you wouldn't expect. Johnny makes Telos look MAD STRONG here, for good reason. Another clean match with a WRESTLING finish! No gifs on RIOT this week -... yet.

 

ITS OUR HERO! Okay... Maybe the podcast is making me love this promo more than I should, but man this was funny shit. Classic AC Cobra and I'm glad we're not shifting from AC's RP style because he won the title. I am here for a long AC run.

 

Kareem is right, you do look like a pornstar. I'm always a fan of fun mid-low card stories like this because they have good writing and transition well.

 

Simple entertainment from Drago and Nate.

 

Long man vs Strong man, good matchup here. Love the chain wrestling start, it makes sense for both guys, then for Tre to get frustrated and just slam, solid open. Tre has gotten way better since his return. Bit of a hover from Tre. Ted continues his incompetence. Since you can't edit length of body parts, it's gotta be said how well Ant does using his moveset to really show him as a lenky, wiry, spider-like athlete. Almost Kevin Durantish in a lot of ways. That's why they call him the Tarantula! Tre puts up a good fight early, but Antonio looks STRONK heading into cide so far, as expected. AC is in the rear view.

 

Heather's had better promos, not to say this was awful. I'm just glad one of them is making an effort to build their match at Cide. If Flo can win and slay the beast, maybe it'd give her a reason to show up on TV from time to time.

 

Wrex is a badass and we already knew it, but just in case you forgot... He shows it here. His RPs aren't as frequent, but they're always impactful.

I was very pleased with the commentary in the main event! Nick has gotten so much better with his intonation and in his role and Angus is always good. Love watching a match with commentary I wasn't involved in to get me into a match. Wrex is the best all-around at in-ring story-telling/matches in OCW, don't @ me. Fun to watch and to listen to.

 

What the fuck is happning in this KD promo, he got someone in the truck? WTFFFFF, DID KD KIDNAP H2O!? WHAT THE FUCK!? I am always a fan of KD vertical video RPs and this is no different, holy shit looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

 

Empress getting a 2nd shot at the face of the company. Big match for Empress and a loss could mean a fall down the card if she can't be competitive. Empress was better in this RP than usual Emp RPs, I like the improvement. Empress also doesn't look like a desperate fool as she gets the jump, beating the dogshit out of Valk (where's Ashley to cash in! Bad timing on the face turn LOL)

 

God dammit this show was long.

 

Savage Saturday is next, marks. Keep up the good work and those of you not doing anything better be paying attention. This was a great show in-that it had story-only relevant RPs, but I see people that aren't working hard enough to get content up. Show did not suffer, but I hope those people will step up as we end this seaosn and head into 15. What a ride Season 14 has been. I hate every single one of you. Thank you <3
