  1. I find it easier to listen to these than to watch Riot just because I can be doing other things at the same time. Definitely worth pushing for if more people are interested.
  2. Just finished this. There needs to be some sort of round table between guys who have been here for a while. The 1 on 1's are great, probably more coherent in the long run, but I'd love to hear different people's takes on some of the stories and ideas told/brought up here. Pretty sure while listening I had some other things to say, but I had to listen to this in segments and I forgot....
  3. Also, I'm not on PS4, and I don't have the money or intention to go out and get one anytime soon, so I can't play DM's with anyone or get in party chats with people. But if you all have general questions, or want something critiqued from a specific match, or anything of that nature I'm someone who won't mind you asking in a PM, AIM, or Skype if you trust/value my opinion on it.
  4. This may seem kind of harsh, but I think you should go with that second version of 'Lution. It's our top show of the year, it's going to be long as it is, and there's no reason to make it longer if people/angles aren't interesting enough that you want to put them on the card naturally. Likely, if that's the case, people will just skim that content anyway.
  5. I only got up to the Tank/Dennis match so that's what I'll review up to for now cause this is a lot of content for one sitting (it's generally good content though, so I'll definitely finish it later). Fuck The Steve! His entrance is immaculate and I hate him for that. He was able to tell me exactly how to put it together and it sounded perfect with that live version of his song and all. If I ever find a new song that I like and can find a live version, I'm ripping your idea off! Good to see him back, better to hit him with a clothesline before he knew what was going on! A kid that's too sick to even watch TV may as well just be killed..... It's a good thing Abbott stole that sandwich, he may need it in his corner next week. The Table of 9 was so much fun to write (really to read, cause I only wrote a few lines myself). You all are just mean, best line was probably Fuck the Handicapped! They're straight bitches, all of them. Xander, do you know how much Jay spends to give the staff medical benefits? Do you know how high his premiums are about to go with this shit. You had to have dropped that poor man on his head at least 15 times. I don't know if OCW has started doing concussion research, but for our public image, we may at least want to look into it. Madison comes in complaining she's still not 100% and still wins the match, what a boss. In my personal opinion, I think the Wanda CAW looks weird. Something about her face makes me cringe when I see her, forgot to mention that at The Clash. Bray S. Spur: You can write, so you have that going for you. I like your attire. But all of that aside, I abhor the fact that you've made yourself a Jericho clone in every other way. You can draw inspiration from someone without becoming them. You use his theme, tron, entrance motion, and finisher. Makes me disinterested. KD be burryin' bitches! Dylan Graves: I don't think Lonely train makes the greatest theme song. I tend to stay away from things that were used on a WWE soundtrack though. I don't know why, they've just always felt off limits to me, low hanging fruit I guess. This fake Jimmy Henry is fantastic! He really knows how to push the product, he's a go-getter! I say we keep him. I thought for a second that fake Jimmy was actually going to win. I'm VERY glad he didn't. Would have made Joe look bad. I like Joe's look a lot, the facial hair is a nice touch. I'd maybe ditch the jacket because several others are wearing it, but it does fit you. When Aries went as far as to turn the bag inside out to get to the crumbs I started cracking up. Tre's getting shit on by his own team. To be fair, I still think he's an inside job! Also, I swear, I thought there was an actual ceremony at some point too. Cap and gown, official OCW diploma to frame and put on your wall, the whole 9. I think those things existed in the past, but with Mr. Sensation's financial troubles, and his apparent drinking habit, they got nixed. Not sure if Austin wrote the drive through RP or if Matt did, but you all are doing a fantastic job. It's fun to read what Sid's doing now, and I didn't think I'd say that any time soon. Enjoy that diet water you fucking fat-shaming schmuck! I liked the concept between the B-17/Kass interaction. I thought that the post-match RP about it was well written, but I thought that the in match execution was a little weak. I would have preferred if he had actually walked out on the ramp or something, just cut a little of his entrance in there instead of just the shot of the crowd. But either way, it led to a good RP. Dejsus! It's our Savior (and false prophet. You know that if he comes back as a regular, and Cody takes control of his own head again, we'll have three people all claiming to be the true Son of God. That's just messy. Plus we all know the real answer anyway). Pretty sure he learned finances from Mugen: "ARTIST: Listen here, what’s the Artist’s is the Artist’s and what’s yours is the Artist’s, you feel the Artist?" - This sounds a lot like the Income Funnel. Tank vs Dennis: I know a lot has been said about this already, and most of what I'll say is probably rehashing anyway, but this is a hobby we all put a ton of time into so I'm going to indulge and say some shit anyway because I'm invested in this mess. I didn't think that the start of the match was bad, I thought it looked decent for what they were going for and I kind of like that they didn't go through the chain grappling stage, because Tank doesn't look like much of a chain grappler so I think that part worked out for the better. His moveset is so powerful! You just need to tone that down, a few other people have been asked to recently as well, namely Xander. I know you said you were going to powerbomb him all over the ring, but I think most assume that's blowing smoke because when you actually do it, it just looks bad. I assume you're going to talk big, doesn't mean you have to actually follow through with it in the match when it looks bad. But really this whole thing comes down to one rule, THE RULE: Finisher Rules (btw, this is a link). Hovering, reverse hovering, how many moves can be hit at a time, these are all rules whose meanings have eluded rookies for years now (I know, cause it took me months to grasp them). But the most important rule in this place is how and when a match can be finished. We even bolded that shit and put it in bright red text. IF YOU CANNOT GRASP THIS RULE WITHOUT HELP, YOU'RE LIKELY A LOST CAUSE AND YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE! (see how I made it match the rule and everything!) Sometimes accidents happen. Sometimes you hit a finisher early because it was just a sig, or you hit the button by accident, it happens. But if you keep reading that page, it tells you, you redo the match. My first match back as The Monster, I was fighting Ace Angel and he went to hit a diving move on me when I was trying to get up. I tap all of the buttons when I get up normally, and wasn't even thinking about it, but he jumped right into my hand and I hit him with the OMG Chokeslam unintentionally. We IMMEDIATELY restarted the match. No one else knew it happened because the match never aired like that. This brings me to what bugs me most about this: It's an unrealistic expectation that something like this be dealt with strictly in private. You (and others in similar situations before and after, myself included with some of my past thirstiness) allowed this to air. You submitted it on the show for everyone to see, so everyone saw it, and everyone went to town on it. That is 100% fair. The podcast was in bad taste to an extent, but again none of this would have happened if the rules were followed and the finishers weren't hit (finishers; plural, because it happened three times. How does that happen?!) or the match had been properly restarted (even at a later time since Tank had to go to work). I understand that having vets around to talk to and learn from is helpful and it's something that turmoil doesn't have a whole lot of (after reading this thread I'm hopeful that Aries and Trance will be kind and put some extra effort into this), but that's not the only way to learn. OCW is, large in part, a watch and learn kind of activity. If you go through and you watch the matches you see FPR in action and you should be able to pick that up to a large extent. DM's are obviously easier to learn from, but as Trance has alluded to here if you play clean in a DM and then get thirsty when the camera starts rolling he can't fix that in a DM. In fact, that makes it all seem more deliberate, like you do know the rules but aren't employing them. Everyone should be proactive with their experience here. If you feel like you have a question about something, you should ask someone. If that someone doesn't give you an answer or they gives you an answer that leaves you feeling like you don't understand what you asked about better, ask someone else. We've heard several times in the last few weeks that the vets on Xbox aren't doing enough or giving enough constructive criticism before going in on people. If you want constructive criticism, go ask, and if you've asked and gotten nothing, go ask someone else. But nine times out of ten, people aren't going to come to you, you need to be more proactive about it.
  6. That's right! See what not having a driver's license can do for you!
  7. http://imgur.com/IS9AxPn
  8. I'm not FPR police, but this is just the rule so I feel like I can say it anyway: If a finisher was hit before someone was red, the match should be restarted.
  9. I don't even think there needs to be a hard and fast rule on that, I just thought 3 springboards/diving moves was a lot because they are higher damage/momentum moves. In the end, it can be reversed so it's not a huge deal. Just like a pick-up sig into a finisher. I just like knowing where people stand on them really.
  10. You're right that gray area isn't rule breaking, I only bring it up because to me gray area is that "you do it, I'll do it back" territory. So I like to know where people stand on some of those things. Last time that I remember saying anything it was to Nathan doing three springboard/dive moves before his opponent ever got up. And the only other time I remember specifically commenting on you was when you rolled out on a sig and that's because you did it against me, so of course there's a special place in my heart for that one. It's less me looking to scold you and more me wanting to know where people stand on it. I know when I fight you it's fair game. And I now know when I fight Trance we should reset.
  11. No it was a dude in the X Division. He was there during the earlier years. He was larger (not even Hernandez's size though) but did like spring boards and X style moves. I always thought he was really strange.
  12. Because Smite got it's big update today, I've only gotten through about half of Riot (just finished the Rhyme Tyme/Crew match). But here are my thoughts thus far: - Dupree's a real dickbag. After everything OCW has done for him and his legend, this is how he treats this company?! Well good, cause OCW deserves it! - Sean has been using Savage Era to describe this year for a while (we've all taken it up really), but it's official now. Also, Smythe storyline won his world title, so I agree, Sean's really the 2nd black WHC. - Bu'Tay couldn't possibly look more like Beyonce without Beyonce actually heading to 2K's offices and getting scanned in. Bu'Tay also kind of merked Jennie (who thankfully is not using "Man! I Feel Like a Woman"). That kip-up-rana reversal was awesome. Didn't know it existed. - Austin's so fucking annoying riding his hoverboard and throwing "#'s" everywhere. I love it. - Trey's title looks awful. I get the vision, the execution was terrible and I'm not even sure it was sanctioned (just kidding, I know it wasn't). Just about every vet that he alludes to has already won a world title so..... what's up with that? You look like Ricky Ortiz, you act like CM Punk, and your moveset reminds me of this one larger Hispanic dude that used to be in TNA who's name I can't remember right now. I feel like you have to consolidate your personality some, but that's just my opinion. - The tense that the RP where Cobra gets demolished was written in read strangely to me given how it was happening at that moment in the show, but it almost didn't read that way (could also just be the effect reading while trying to also watch the basketball game has on my brain). Poor dude has to catch a break at some point. - Rhyme Thyme vs The Crew wasn't too bad targetting wise it didn't seem. Except for that drop kick to a man standing behind you on the apron and the failed breakup attempt at the very end, it looked like it went fairly smoothly. Some things in there that seemed kind of gray area though, that I'm not really sure where the majority of OCW stands: I.E. pick up sig into a wake up finisher attempt. illegal guy running in off the apron to attack someone in the ring (I generally think it's ok when it's action on the outside) without a tag (I like seeing people utilize the five-count after a tag). The little guys screwed themselves a bit by not tagging out when they had no reversals and had the chance.
  13. Thanks for the Adobe practice footage people. Also, who made the N.A. title so sparkly?
  14. There's no incentive for 'Suda to come back anymore. He has one of his chief rivals successfully defending his championship for him. I don't even know how to describe that really. I guess it's just #Overness
  15. I assumed the jump cuts were made to get the match under the imposed time limit. So when I was watching it I actually was commending you in my head for how you used the crowd to make the transition seem more natural. I don't think it looked too bad.
  16. 1st page Pugh's back! He's going to undue a miscarriage? Is that possible? Ragnajob sounds like a euphemism for anal. Page 2 I want to use that tag match to raise a question/concern: are we doing anything about super heavyweights? As you can see, at the beginning of the match Ding gets grabbed twice within 30 seconds and just shoves his Jackson off without it taking a reversal. With reversals being limited this year that feels like a MASSIVE advantage. Specially since, as far as I've been able to tell so far, there's no rhyme or reason to it. It doesn't revolve around whether you're trying to do a pick up move or anything like that. HOLY SHIT SOUND THE ALARM! Austin Lee #Won a match! Pretty good match, refreshing on this PPV that it didn't last eons. Good to see Austin get some momentum, 'specially with our dearth of faces. Then the face gets absolutely demolished..... yeah, that sounds about right. The roster size for Turmoil is large enough to carry a second belt, but I'm not so sure the first is valued enough yet to warrant it. Though adding a second title makes the top title automatically look better in comparison I suppose. Page 3 I don't really watch Turmoil (sue me), but that video package prior to the ladder match shows that DB's attires are awesome. Love the logo on the back of the jacket. The match was good, but since everyone knew what happened with Morrison before hand we all knew who was going to win already, so that kind of sucked. I thought Parker's RP was funny, though uncalled for. But I don't like Raze very much so I still laughed. Page 4 Jay's being gangbanged over here; threats and attacks from all sides just comin' at him. "B-17: You put me at risk out there…. Jackson: No, no, no. I'm fine… B-17:...and Dylan, and Bill…." I get the point here, and I think the RP overall was good, but this segment has no business in kayfabe. You should want to hurt your opponents. Just felt a little bit like an OOC explanation to me, which isn't something I'd put in a show 9/10 (granted, alcoholism is serious subject matter). Bubba should have gotten a damn snack. Page 5 Jim Black needs a DNA test to prove to everyone he's actually black. It's been questioned about as many times as Obama's heritage. Page 6 Xander should have popped Tre with the elbow. Pretty sure Tre's an infiltrator in this group. I thought the Carter/Suda match was very entertaining. A little bummed the real thing couldn't be done because Spider may know Suda very well, but not many can duplicate his playstyle. How about that superkick tho'!? I thought Nathan had it several times. Everyone is getting scary good at kicking out and I don't like it one bit! Mugen manages to steal the show without even being there for it..... Leon's attire http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/poptarts/images/a/a2/Frosted_Wildberry.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20091117001234 Glad someone stepped up, sucks what happened with Smythe, sucks just as much for Drago that he didn't get a quick message or anything cause he wasted like 6 hours. They did pretty well with what they were given though. KD's kids forgot to pick up and he's blaming you all for it.... Page 7 Last Man Standing should be interesting, we haven't seen one of those this year. I wonder how they play. "Jessica Jessie lacks the proper intellectual aptitude to realize she's medically cleared to compete, until someone convinces her otherwise she's no threat." - God damn she's so stupid! Page 8 I really wish we had gotten to see the original, because both parties involved are pretty sure it was MOTY quality, so that's really sad. But what we got was still very good, and let's be honest, what matters most here is the result. Congrats Sean, enjoy the run and make it last a while. Past that, did the whitest man in OCW just go black?! HOL-E-SHIT! Conclusion After reading Jay's post in the thread I was expecting this PPV to be an absolute shit show. I don't think it was. Far from our best, but I'd say it's also far from the worst I've seen. The ME/surprise return ending definitely carried the show off on a good note. S/N: Someone needs to fill me in on how everyone got their entrances to be Boston. Spider starting explaining it to me the other night, but never fully got around to it.
  17. those numbskulls at 2K took out the match rules editor. All multi mans are no-DQ now and there's nothing we can do about it unless you specifically tell people to play it otherwise.
  18. I'm slowly working my way up this mountain of content here on my way to this M.E. Also, fuck you Parker! It wasn't Gyno-itis, it was gonorrhea and I got that shit cleared up..... Some people!
  19. Haven't gotten that far yet. Only on the TV title match. Sean had said it was just the first 5 minutes or so that got ruined. Did you all salvage the majority of it, or did you redo the whole thing?
  20. Almost forgot, I was supposed to inform the OCW public that it took Leon like 5000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 tries to hit that double shell-shock. It's ok Spider, it's not just you.
  21. Riot was pretty good this week, lets talk about it: I didn't know KD was into cosplay.... I thought Jook forgetting about his hardcore title reign (one that I don't remember either, so I don't know if it was long enough to even call a reign) was funny, but I'm not one for insulting the division you're about to fight for the title of. Bertha looks like Chyna and Beth Phoenix had a baby, she also fights like Chyna and Beth Phoenix had a baby. She's a big ol' bitch, i hope someone topples her soon damn it! Austin ought to pull a Polamalu and get that mustache insured. I thought the interaction between Kassie and the crowd was funny. I've been watching that new show Lucifer recently and when I read Kassie's lines I keep thinking about that show and how it looks like Lucifer's right hand demon friend is gonna ditch him if he goes good. I don't think that's where Kassie's leaning, as she seems concerned about Austin. But it's a storyline that has me interested just in case. "AC- It's time to get some ass!! Game Over KD!!!!!!!" KD, I think he's trying to rape you..... The Hardcore title match was pretty good I thought. Austin sold his lack of enthusiasm for hardcore wrestling by constantly throwing the weapons out of the ring. Xander looked pretty dominant in that he kept hitting big move after big move, but Austin still looked good cause it took a hell of a lot to put him away. If you're staying face Austin, I'd go change that in your character bio on the game, it looked good when you intentionally picked Rane's head up off the mat to end a pin attempt because Rane's an asshole and this is a hardcore match, but it may not fit as well in some of your matches down the road. We need to call 2K and request an entrance with a lion in it, cause I really want to see Bubba. I also want to try my hand at killing a lion..... Pretty sure Drago just called Sean ugly (he's right too)! Trey really hurt his team's chances of winning that tag match I think. It looked like he almost refused to tag out, even when he had no reversals. I also don't understand why you broke the pin after the AA instead of forcing them to use their breakup. Not a bad match overall, just the final two minutes or so was a bit underwhelming. I think that entrance probably suits you better than the Stardust one Nate. You know the thirst is real when the first move is a springboard! This match had buffering problems for me so I didn't get to see most of it sadly. I did see the ending though, nasty finish. I hope Drago beats the shit out of Smythe to retain. Using the title as a stepping stone, fuck you! I appreciated the PSA. I do not apologize for the wall of text! I do apologize for the typos.... God that's embarrassing!
  22. This was more than show worthy.
  23. Sorry, I'm away from home and got bored at 1 am in the hotel room. Couldn't sleep, so I wrote.
  24. A reverse button?! Holy shit! What's this magic you speak of?! I didn't call Nathan cheesy, because I don't think he is.
  25. Like I said, there's no set rule anymore. The old one was three strikes OR one grapple. That was way too robotic and made matches look awful and feel awful to play. I think for me when watching that match in particular it was the springboards that made it look a little much. I remember at least once or twice you hit two in a row.
