  1. We've been missing out on that young discussion. CMON YOU FUCKS, WE'VE LESS THAN 6 WEEKS TO LUTION - Pre-match promo from Salami Kane, love the recent activity from the now outed Nick, also don't hate the choice of dancing partner. Jehst's recent promos have been with only 3 people and have been a bit disconnected from the OCW universe, so it's good to see nice short and sweet promos like this get everyone back in the same playing field. - Empress and Ashley impressing as usual. Ashley getting back to less manipulative things and almost comes off like a face here, a preppy face, but you can kinda feel the hate for Valk is just for Valk. Empress on the other hand, is a foul mouthed heathen. Haven't seen much character-specific development yet, but this story is fun anyway, so that can come later. - Salami Kane continues knocking down his peers, this time running through JT. JT actually put up a solid fight, I thought he might sneak it out, but not quite. These two both involved in the upcoming battle royal, so great job to book them and get a little showcase here. - TY Sparks promo is short, sweet, establishes his goals, links to his upcoming PPV match. Classic, descriptive, easy to read stuff here. - Ashley and Empress... Together acting like faces?! Empress apologizing like a human!? - popped hard at Valkyries use of "cartoons" instead of anime. I liked the descriptiveness of the scene here. Put me in the room without over-doing it. Valk seems all-too okay with losing... Not the Valk I know! - It doesn't surprise me in the least that Justin Jehst knows all the Turmoil staffers name's. Enjoyable and adds a part to Jehst's character as a face. - Not sure why this came out sans Morrison Method. I did not submit it that way. Oh well, no biggie. Have to say, Empress and Ashley are very efficient and easy to work with. Empress once again being a bitch. Maybe she's grown attached to Ashley and is just mean to everyone else? I'd ship it. - This match was a whole hell of a lot of fun. I'd be happy to work with any of these 3 again. The tag moves and a very clean match in my opinion. - The Danny Watts promo. Very interesting. I have to say, initially I was questioning the dialogue here, but I think I got it after re-reading it once. His speech patterns are very unique and I don't think it's awkward writing, I believe it's a design choice for the character. Not Jittery per se, but kinda vintage early Golddust in the way that he affirms his own statements. I dig it. - Bray and Mark Reese was not the shit show I expected. See Aries post on page one for details. - Good exposure for the Experience. I see the writing skills of Sparks and Asher is improving, which is an overall improvement on the reading experience. I still hate the past tense stuff, but it's fine. Following up on things instead of having one-offs is good too. Kinda interested in who is knocking out rookies backstage. - Another one-off from Benji. Interesting content none-the-less. Hopefully we'll see more from him other than when he's booked now that he's in contention for the International title. Continuing to bring the twins is a fun wrinkle to his gimmick as well. - More strange ominous promos from this weird tycoon that overlooks Turmoil. I guess he has another spy with this woman on the voicemail? - Benji vs TJ Stephens ahead of his match for the title. This one ran a bit longer than I expected, but actually didn't hate it. Still bummed to see Benji choosing to keep fists as a "get out of major" free card when everyone else has since dumped yellow paybacks. It's not technically illegal til R2G though, so /shrug. - Holy shit. Shep is pissing on Cort's fathers grave. That ratched up like 40 notches from Shep being absent the last few weeks. God damn I knew I missed this feud but I didn't realize what a Big Boss Man Shep was going to be! - 22 minutes of no-selling fins later and we have a competitive but exhausting match. There was admittedly a lot on the line, so I get it. A lot of fin reversals too! How is the despondent Code gonna bounce back from this one? - Ohhh snap. The Scum of the show come out in a big way. Mistico playing threatening, yet lesser to Wrex as I imagine he walks out like the final boss or some shit. B17 has really done a great job showing us his more serious side over the last few months. - Nice subtle reference to Terra at the start of this Dragana RP, not even mentioning the story, but continuing to plant the seeds (see I just did it too). Unfortunate way to write off Ace... maybe? Dragana kept the box. Oh heavens me. - This was low-key a fantastic Main Event to watch. It really was a brawl with the only "grappling" moves being HIGH impact suplexes and slams. Mostly striking and very limited fucking around with spacing with these two. Palatable and fun to commentate, fun to watch. Reminded me of a Wrex/Trance match a bit with all the striking. Rust Cohle showing his strength ahead of his handicap match. Not the best Turmoil I've ever seen, but as always, being a biased mark, I enjoyed reading it. MOTN: Cohle vs Lee RPOTN: None of them really blew me out of my chair, but I was most interested in all of the changing dynamics from Ashley Moore and Empress... Who desperately need a team name. The skirt of Ashley in the tag match... Dress 2 Empress anyone? ...okay, I'm done now.
  2. Super late, but the organic style has been the most effective and enjoyable part of OCW for me since I've joined. This is the blueprint I try to teach rookies as they're coming in, while some of them are still confused by staff not handing them a feud or them not needing to plan something out from start to finish in a scripted sense, the key here is "OCW is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." Cort mentioned this a few times in various mediums, but it's one reason it's hard to be a traditional "monster" character in OCW, because if you lose, you don't really have my loss protections like they would in real wrestling. I believe this style is the most enjoyable as well for the handler, even if you're very good at the game, because it makes your life so much easier and you still get surprised yourself in the moment. All you have to do to succeed in this frame is put out just a small amount of effort. RP on your show and build your character every week and things will come naturally.
  3. Turmoil even gets disrespected in it's own discussion thread!
  4. I appreciate you getting out in front of it and acknowledging it. Good work on the new CAW.
  5. I mean, you're not wrong, it deserves a larger discussion. Perhaps once I see a match with all that BS I will break it down the same way. Because that is more ethics and being fucking annoying and not FPR related, I wanted to first get this taken care of. This is a RIOT problem more than anything else. Turmoil has their own issues, subjectively worse in some minds. I totally agree with you.
  6. Break up the text a little bit b. I'll post below how it should look: The camera opens on Asher, he is sitting down in his small little apartment. Asher sat up off of his bed and looked to his right to see a woman with blonde hair. She had the blanket which was white covered in red hearts over herself. Alex then looked to his left and saw the same woman. Apparently, he managed to get a bit lucky last night. It had been a long time since he had been with twins. However, he would not remember a single thing. Alex slowly attempted to get out of the bed. This cause the lady on the left to reach her arm for him. Luckily enough, for him, he would slip through just in time and stand up after getting out of bed. Asher then reached down and picked up his shorts and put them on. He then made his way into the living room and sat down at the dining room table. His back faced the door as he put his arms on the table and placed his head atop them. His head was still aching from the night before. After a few moments his head rose once more as his eyes met the picture of his father holding a young Asher up on his shoulders. Young Asher would have a trophy in his hands and a large smile on his face. A smiled stretched across Alex's face as he remembered back to the good times, before things were so complicated. Almost Asher's whole life had been spent in gym. His father was a well accomplished Muay Thai martial artist. He would compete in tournaments all across Puerto Rico and America. He made himself well known in the world of martial arts during his travels and multiple wins. Eventually he settled down in the United States and met Asher's mother, a young and ambitious actress. Soon after Asher was born his father opened up his own Muay Thai gym. As soon as Asher was old enough to walk he was training. Always trying to be better than his father, he had always strived to make his father proud. Almost as soon as Asher began he was a prodigy, he excelled in nearly every aspect Muay Thai. One thing he often leaned toward was kicks, especially the flashy ones. As Asher's teenage years began to come around he began to stop enjoying competition. All the years of pressure from his father had made it hard on Asher. Asher began taking a liking to his mother's bright lights and action packed lifestyle. He would begin to attend many parties in his highschool years leading to his father's disappointment. However, this didn't stop Asher from enjoying his new lifestyle. One aspect of the wild lifestyle Alex began to chase after was the women and sometime men. Almost every single night Asher went to a party he left with a new women on his arms. Soon he began to get the name “Lover Boy,” by the time he was a senior he had been with every single girl in his highschool of 236, half of which were female. When Asher finished high school he had no plan in following Muay Thai or going to college. Instead, his life would be filled with nothing but wild parties and different partners every night. That all changed when after one long night of partying he got a phone call that would change his life forever. The night Asher was out partying and doing God knows what, his father had fallen down the stairs and fell into a coma. It didn't take Alex's long to drive from his apartment in New York back to his home state of Washington. When Asher finally saw his father in the hospital it broke his heart, he felt incredibly terrible for what he had done to his father. Never had he felt such shame in his entire life for not following in his father's footsteps. All his father wanted to see him do was grow into a successful young man. All he had done with his life so far was waste it. It was then that Asher would look up and see a commercial for a wrestling promotion called OCW. It was then he got an idea, he could both prove his worth to his father and himself while still managing his Muay Thai and still have his “Lover Boy” identity. Asher gripped his father's hand and kissed his forehead and promised he wouldn't fail him again. As Asher continued to think about the past he wouldn't have heard the two women from before. Wake up and approach him from behind from each side. Woman1: Come back to bed. Woman2: Yeah, we miss you Asher: I'll be back in just a second ladies. The two women let out a soft sigh as they both kissed his neck from each side and began to walk back into the bedroom. The camera then started to fade out as Asher began walking back into the bedroom as he slowly removed his shorts.
  7. Another point I forgot to add. Not crappling also adds a great deal of aesthetic value to a match. Nobody wants to see you "video game" away your opponent all match, a series of reversals makes matches more fun, more intense, FASTER (no 18 minute moonwalk Thirstmoil bouts). It's in the rulebook for a reason.
  8. Here I'll post this in here. I'm just trying to help you and OCW make sure there's no confusion. I am completely understanding that you guys have been here a while and have had multiple sets of rules, so things can change and get muddied and we all have busy personal lives, not having time to sit and go through every rulebook change. You have been incredibly open and willing to these criticisms in the past and I don't want this to be about you specifically, but this is as good a chance as any to point out with visuals what we're talking about. FPR BREAK TELOS About 4 minutes into the match, Telos breaks FPR by doing 2 knockdowns and then a groundmove with no reset. http://media.giphy.com/media/XeeVWJTA4x2qmmpFjY/giphy.gif Knockdowns that come off of reversals ARE STILL KNOCKDOWNS. Here's an easy way to remember. If you have to manually pick your opponent back up. It's a knockdown. If the animation (like the common firemans carry reversal) picks them back up for you, it's not a knockdown. EZPZ. Pickup Grapple, this is fine, but there must be a reset after this. This is where the FPR break is. I'll assume it was an accident and we can move on. CRAPPLING Here's the main point. Here's a screenshot of the rule. It's very clear. If it's not clear, then maybe my examples will help explain it to those of you that don't get it. http://i.groupme.com/1942x108.png.4220056e283f450aad46a56ea37c6d5c.large The easiest way to avoid this - If you get reversed in a match, stand still. Don't walk away. Don't mash the attack buttons. Just stand there. Try to reverse their follow up move. That is the only option you have under FPR rules. That's not to say, stand there for several seconds. If they wait for 2-3 seconds before following up, fuck em. Potato them in the mouth. But give them a FAIR CHANCE. Here are the examples from Tyson/Telos. CRAPPLE ATTEMPT TYSON: This is the small stuff that annoys me in matches, because while this ended up being a failed attempt at a crapple, you can still clearly see where Tyson attempts to mash the 'grapple' button immediately after getting reversed to try and circumvent it. This one didn't end up working, but a crapple attempt is still a crapple. Stay still after you get reversed. Your options of countering after a reversal are to reverse them back (GREY) CRAPPLE TELOS: This one is a bit weird because Tyson whiffs, so I'm sure most people would say "fair game" but as you can see, Tyson tries to follow up right away, and the dumb game animation fucks him. I personally would let him follow up again, trying to reverse, but there's conflicting opinions here. I still consider this a crapple, but I'd be more forgiving if it happened to me. Now, you could say - "Oh you should have just got closer before attacking". That's the REAL problem with this lies in the confusion about the rules and it depends who you play. Certain people I play, I know they're going to try to crapple me immediately after every reversal, so I have to quickly mash my attack button after a reversal and sometimes, it leads to this happening. If I think I'm going to get crappled, I'm in-turn trying to avoid that by not walking/adjusting whatsoever after a reversal because I'm afraid you're going to crapple me. That's why I still consider this lame. BLATANT MOONWALK TYSON: Another instance of getting reversed and just moving back to avoid getting followed up (which is an FPR break.) After Telos reverses you and pushes you out of the corner, that's a reversal. Again - just stand there and attempt to reverse his follow up. Don't walk away from him, causing him to whiff and lose his reversal for no reason. That is a crapple. That is against FPR. In this particular case, Tyson did not attack after the moonwalk, and Telos was still able to follow up. If you accidentally crapple, move up and let them get the chance they earned to hit you and try to reverse it. BAD MOONWALK CRAPPLE TYSON: This is far and away the worst one of the match. See below. Telos reverses Tyson's stomp attempt. That's a reversal. He tries to follow up right away, but Tyson says "nah fuck that" and just walks away from him, causing Telos to whiff several times. Then Tyson just boots him in the face. So now Telos has lost a reversal and taken damage. This is EXPLICITLY outlawed in FPR. This is not an ethics issue or grey area. This is just breaking FPR. Again - Please do not see this as me being a fucking dick and calling people out. My only goal here is to help. Everyone in this community can understand how frustrating it is when the two competitors in a match are playing by two separate sets of rules. It is inherently unfair. Thank you.
  9. There was one for each of you. and "for gods sake" is right. I've pointed this out many times yet it continues to happen, so it's not just frustration on your part. It's also important to note that it's not just you. It happens all the time with various people in OCW. I don't mean for these to seem directed, they just come off that way because they continue to happen. I saw Cort explain crappling to you in spoiler chat, so this match may have taken place before that conversation. I was asked not to stay silent just because it was a vet, so that's the advice I'm rolling with.
  10. I hate nobody!
  11. Nobody was mad, per se. More disappointed because we grew attached to something that was taken away. It happens with everything.
  12. Kass leaving as a full timer. SAD Rookies have no willpower and forfeit the title to Pugh. SAD Cort agreeing to fight an injured man and beating him up. SAD Minio eviscerating MAXWALE on a podcast promo (love the Clark Effect podcast idea. Revolutionize!) YES Dupree going from title to title, searching for validation. YES H2O Ruining my favorite weekly segment. SAD Telos getting back to basics and cutting a promo establishing his goals. YES More crappling and moonwalking in Tyson Wagner/Telos match. SAD Telos wins with one of the coolest finishers in OCW. YES Announcement of 6-woman tag match at R2G. YES YES YES YES Wrex/B17 get serious ahead of their R2G Showdown. YES Cort Marshall getting back into it with Shep, Spider getting revenge. YES Drago vs YSL match of the night. YES Solid show, nothing drug on too long and many many bombshells ahead of the LAST STOP til Lution. More bombshells on the way with 2 more shows to go I assume.
  13. It's a terrible day to be Trash... #GoodbyePapa
  14. Good to see Archer back in the ring. His particular style and annoying face do the limb damage gimmick very well. Usually mixed up and fresh. Adam's heel commentator role was fantastic and had me laughing the entire time. I think it was pretty smart to book tournament matches without telling the competitors what it was for. Didn't always work, but at least removed the possibility of extra cheddar coming out knowing a big prize is on the line. My favorite spot in my own match was when I went to get a chair (with every intention to hit Benji with it and get DQ'd) and Ted fucked me by snatching it. First he's sexually assaulting women, now he's Tim White letting Benji capitalize on his tomfoolery! ME was fantastic, so many reversed finishers and the spot at the end was great. Out of nowhere!
  15. Oh fuck yes. Time to put on another match of the year!
  16. The International Championship! Look at the people in that video. We're going to crown a very solid first champion.
  17. Let's make sure we're pointing this out in the moment as well. Like Bobby said at CG, I'm sure these guys would much rather be told in that moment and get over it than be shredded in the forum conversation after it goes live. They may get both, to be honest, but you can't fix a problem if you're not aware of it. I've been shitty with doing this, but trying to get better. Let's lift one another up. It'll only serve to avoid FPR issues in the future. Haven't watched the show yet. Be back when I have.
  18. twas' an honor sir
  19. He's right about this. I'll take the fault. I never bring up shit after matches because I refuse to be "sour grapes" guy. It's on me and I've mentioned not saying anything to non-rookies in the past. It's just something I don't do, which causes problems because when other people say something I get caught in the "well Jake never said anything". How the fuck ya'll gonna look at us if we go "aye that was bullshit, lets run it back" and then ya'll lose? I could be wrong but I can see that not going super great in the group-chat. Just not about that 'losing and then complaining' life because it always comes off as being a sore loser, to which I am not. H2O is also right, which I've also said MANY times about this match. We won the titles on a grey/ethics thing and it was handled the same way. No redos bubba. Penalties offset, repeat first down. Life goes on. -- All that being said, can we please get some verification on what counts as a breakup? I was told by the people who put the rule in the rulebook that ANY interference that breaks the flow of the match is a breakup. This includes breaking up or interrupting - A combo (knockdown, going for 2nd move) A reversal (interference crapple) A move A wakeup fin A pin A submission Basically anything that your team does not initiate is interference. So like tag team moves when your team is in control would not count as a breakup. Basically, it's in the word; BREAK-UP That goes for entering the ring to do it AND attacking from the apron. If this is not the case and this only counts for pin and submission breakups, I think everyone needs to be clear on it.
  20. Our last 4 days have been exhausting to say the least, but I am super proud and satisfied for what we put together. I know much of the work was glossed over in VP because of the sheer #s we had, so if you have a chance, re-watch some stuff! DISCUSSION TOO! GOGOGOGOG. OCW <3
  21. I didn't join the Turmoil roster just so I could critique you to your whiny otaku face. Any time any place, stranger.
