I've got thoughts. - 2 solid opening promos. I think Jeromes' did a better job establishing his goals and expecations and linking it back to his match later in the night. Leo's wasn't terrible either, as it did connect with other universe elements. Leo vs Jerome - Leo, in your match, I recommend losing that opening bit in your music where it's just talking or save it for PPVs or something. I think opening straight with "I AM THE GOD OF" or just getting on with it could improve it a lot. Love Jerome's music lol. I said it before, but again, Leo's new style and moveset fits him so much better than last season. Valiant effort from Leo but another solid victory for Jerome. Interested to see who steps to the plate next. - Really cool stuff from Doc and Antonio. Very serious. No music. No horseshit. I really like Doc's method of video promo. You'd think plastering that much text on the screen wouldn't work but It's better than 1 sentence fading out quickly. Good explanation of the heel turn and meaningful promo from both. - Again, I have to say, the Flojo/Elsa promo ticked all the boxes. Give it an UP. FloJo explains her motivation clearly, both women reference previous encounters. Makes it all feel connected. - El Parca gives reasoning for his booked match being scrapped, so that' good. Better than just not appearing. Oh shit! Legit surprised to see Damian Bourne answer his challenge. Haven't seen much of Damian this season and he's back in the ring. No surprise to see Parca win, championship loss vs someone who's definitely rusty. We'll see if Damian actually turns this into something. - Tucker and Mantis working a real program, this segment had a reason to be here, furthers their story. Didn't hate it. Moooooving on. - John Cena follows us on Twitter. - Tibby articulately shows why Ted is the Jay of referees. Dupree lays down the law, with 4 mentions of mapled flavored snacks. What else is there to say, ticks all the boxes once again. Furthers a story between two established characters and Dupree is always entertaining. - Interesting turn of events as Tre has to face his old rival. Popped @ "but whose side is he on!" in the promo. I wish Cort and Jehst shared a console, their interactions are always hilarious. Teasing a Cort face turn, perhaps? Kasstianity changes us all. FloJo vs Elsa - New Flojo has a kind of presence. The fact she made it to the finals + the new aura is more serious and I don't hate it. Troupe Represent! The pacing of these matches has been perfect so far this show imo. Nothing too long or overly squashy outside of maybe Damian's match. Elsa with an FPR break after her sig. Allowed Flo to get the hit back so good on ya at least. FloJo needs to get back to basics on these resets. When someone bumps you, you can't just hover them and attack straight away. Back up and reset fairly. Other than the 1 or 2 FPR things, this was a fun competitive match. Elsa just not going for the kill at the end confused the hell out of me. Gratz to Flojo. - Parca sets up his future and match with Blacksmith. KD vs Elliot Parker -KD kicks things off with a crapple as you'd expect, we'll see how Elliot responds. In kayfizz and out KD seems know he's outmatching the rookie, going for pins after every big move. Kinda neat. Run moves galore from Elliot early in the match. KD breaks Elliot in half with an OMG. Elliot beaten to a pulp. Still needs to work on his spacing and initiating offense out of a reset, that's what kills him in this one. KS looking strong in Season 15. - Empress is out of control. Good video work as always. She seems determined to get that rematch oe way or another. Ashley is the women's champion, and I know she won it with a cash in, but I'd still expect her to put up more of a fight in these segments. I feel like she's annihilated every time. - Ominous RP from... someone in Philadelphia? Doc vs Tre Golden - Was looking forward to this. I LOVE Doc's new heel mannerisms and entrance. Perfect turn with a great buttrock tune. Slight hovers from Doc early in the match. Give your opp some room fam, but I do like the aggressiveness. Green breaking out all the new heel moves on Tre. I guess not resetting after someone bumps you is a new trend, Doc is doing it now too. Ope, and there's Tre doing it. LOL Tre wins by DQ so good heel work and I enjoyed the ending sequence a lot, but man that no-reset shit was so distracting throughout. Both guys totally toeing the line between "aggression" and flat out not resetting. It was competitive though, so if that's your thing then this is the one for you. The distracting non-resets took a bit away for me personally. - Ohmahgawd Ryu shoots on the world. Got a few pops out of me for sure. - Kind of a creepy, but well blocked segment with Caine, are we teasing my hero Solomon JOINING this shitbag of a cult? Oh my goodness. Would certainly add credibility, to their underlings. - The Valkyrie segment was strange. Heel Valk embodying the things people say about her was funny, just meta enough and just over the top enough to warrant a pop from me... but then "Heather stands herself up immediately"... was Heather sitting in the ring with Valk? Was she in the crowd? Suddenly she was just there. Strange. That being said, the rest of the promo did it's job. I'm here for a Heather vs Valk feud with the usual roles reversed. - I remember 2 years ago when I joined this place, falling in love with H2O vs Tibby for the LHW title. What an evolution it's been in both characters from then and now. As for the promo, it wasn't what I was expecting, but one thing H2O and Tibby both do well is set the scene and really allow you to visualize what they're explaining. I am the Main Event. - This is more along the lines of what I was talking about earlier with Ashley needing to look like a threat. Right now, other than beating Emp in the cage, it hasn't gone that way. Hopefully this scene starts her on the road to looking like a true badass like the champ needs. I enjoyed the show overall. Nothing major happened, but it moved int he right direction as we gear up for the Clash

I am the same way. I wish we had more finisher reversals than finisher kickouts, but the nature of the beast limits one of those things and not the other.
-
Thank you as always Cort for a phenomenally thorough review, differing perspectives, and highs/lows. And just so you know, I will be mentioning this every single match.
-
I haven't fully digested the webshow or RP content yet, but Valk seems to hit the nail on the head for those. My off the cuff thoughts on what I watched for comms and on VP. I wanted to do a full review but I realize these days I just don't have the time, so you'll get more off the cuff comments like these. Don't get pissy with me if I skip your content. Remember these are my thoughts and lots of people won't/don't agree with them all the time. - I thoroughly enjoyed Austin Lee and Solo Caine. I didn't get any vibe that he "lost steam" as I saw several say in Discord. Salami lost a hard fought match in a fun program for the INT title and bounced back in about as big a way as you can. The visuals of the match were very funny but now Caine has another signature W - Speaking of signature Ws... Sparks shocks the world and the ending popped me. I really dig the rebound off the ropes bingo punch, unique way to hit that move. - Disappointed that Danny couldn't pull it off in that one, but hey what can you do. Danny did a good job pulling himself up the card and out of the doldrums of turmoil rookie irrelevancy. W or L this was good for him. Fuck Archer - Blacksmith vs Code was whatever. Code seems like filler at this point, needs something big to bounce him back to the mainframe. - Ashley and Empress had the one botch, but otherwise was fine. It was necessary for the story later on. - Lost all interest in Wrex vs Parca after the FPR hulabaloo - Valk vs Blaine was odd, idk what the deal was with Blaine allowing Valk to be counted out. Doesn't seem like Doom Machine behavior. That being said, I may be looking too far into it and not just enjoying it from a pure kayfizz standpoint, which because of what happened post-counout, was very fun. I popped like crazy on comms - Spider vs Boob was fun, shocked that Spooder won tbh - Never had any real doubt that H2O would win but because it ended an otherwise batshit crazy show, you just never really knew. keep it coming you animals
-
Is that a fat joke?

RIOT. yay - Good hot way to start off the show, two of your top superstars cutting a promo and getting the world excited about the CQC UC rematch. Sanders vs Leo - Sanders has that simple but fun indy look I like. Contrast of aesthetic as Leo is a big guy with a lot going on, although to his credit I do really like his new look. I said last year he had too much going on and he solved it. Leo takes most of the heat early. Move of his moveset shown later in the match and it definitely fits better with him moving up to HW. Empress is right, the masked headbutts do it for me. REF BUMP! Match is dragging. Go for the kill Leo! Nice debut win for Sanders. Didn't hate the match. - Empress with an incredibly aggressive segment right out of the gates for Season 15. Hasn't missed a beat! Don't be a bully, kids! We'll see if Ash gets a rematch. - A little bit of brand supremacy in this champ champ kickoff ME. Well, it is Survivor Series month. I doubt this goes anywhere long term, but it surely (is) will be a banger. -Cort's segments are always gold. "Gimme your best shot ya skeleton painted nutsack" is fantastic! Who is this crazy man? Could Leo Grimm be firing up the card and coming after Cort Marshall? Or is it just NES Jason Vorhees again? That Rascal! - Leo's Elijah Wood line popped me. Maybe it isn't Leo, he's pissed about his own match. Deliverance all over the place. Terra vs FloJo - QOCW Rd1 was very fun to play. Been a while since I got back in the ring with Terra. Hats off to FloJo for maintaining the calmness I didn't have to finish the job. - The god damn Judge is back!!! Who is he ready to sentence to 10 minutes of pain next? - Just nice to have Dims back on TV even if he's not wrastlin. Neat angle to have him mentor his new main. - Vince "Spider" RYUsso flexing his new power. - Aisu needs some consistency. Hopefully the new season locks his look/style/theme up a little bit. The frequent changes are steps backwards. Nice production from Rusty with the boos/you suck chants. Heelsu is really digging into someone... OH SHIT! The battle lines have been drawn Tre! Hopefully this isn't another fruitless Blacksmith call out! - The Clark Effect has been invaded! Valk has become an ominous presence. The lower exposure makes her a bit scary. Good. This is the worst group of shitbags that could have possibly manifested. Aerith vs Blaine - QOCW Rd1! High stakes! Glad we have slick looking Blaine back! Very even match as expected. Didn't drag on, just a solid contest. FloJo better watch the fuck out in the semis. Former champ coming at you. - Parca is ready to fight. - Estrella is ready to fight. - "Jim Black, seemingly the hardest working man on Riot about to give an interview." pop. - Little bit of hype for the #1 contenders match. Good to see all the people trying to prove they'll be able to hold the title with some dignity if they win it. Parca vs Antonio - Rookie challenge is fucking right. Parca will benefit greatly in the Riot mid-card if he can win this one. Parca has improved a lot, hanging with Antonio early. Man oh man what an even affair. JESUS THEY WONT QUIT. A brutal match ends with a SIG! That's how you know a man has been worn down. Waow. Antonio respectful of Parca, what a huge win. (cough pride title cough) - OCWs power couple adorable their way into our first episode of Riot. GO ELSA! TY is way sassier than I remember. Is Empress feeding him lines? "Come home from Juggalo Camp" lmao Triple Threat - Glad to see Danny's "19" year old ass back with an updated look. Reminds me of Season 13 Quartz! Benji has INT title match experience. Maxx's entrance doesn't really fit him imo. The Blue Stahli stuff doesn't really work with his bad guy movie star persona, but the look is solid enough. Was hoping for an updated Season 15 Caw, but plenty of time. Fuck me this match is long. Even on 2x speed this one drug. Take it home, kids. They definitely showed they wanted that shot whatever the cost. I thought for sure Benji had it after the splash. Wow what a last second save by Maxx. Danny steals it and continues his insane W/L record. A well deserved title shot and I'm actually looking forward to it. - P3 / Troupe is a combination you people don't deserve, but it's a combination you need. - Thomas Archer, I hate you so fucking much. He's a great heel champ and has done a solid job making me care about a brand new strap. Solo--WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK. THE MOON BOOTS. WHAT THE FUCK. WHY LEE WHY!!!! - Everyone is out to get Kasstianity. Who will be the lucky ones to take them down? Kass with the domestic abuse to Heather, classy. I do think the new-Heather would be the perfect one to head up a fight against Kasstianity Main Event - Super fun match to watch and to call. Both guys came to play. Would be a fun feud down the road. Was in my element in the booth and these guys made it easy to go solo-dolo. - Jett Draven?! What does this foo have up his sleeve!

Fading in from black, a red stool hoists the two Undisputed Tag Team championships. They face outward, glimmering off of the light coming from above. Walking in from the right is one half of the tag team champions, Rust Cohle. He stares directly into the camera, with his hair tied behind his head. His signature jacket draped over his shoulders. Rust: Bonjour, mates. Rust: I know it’s been quite some time since we’ve talked. As he continues, he peers to the other side of the stool as a calm looking Quartz walks slowly into frame. He strokes his long beard and raises his head, looking into the camera alongside his tag team partner. Rust: Trust me when I’m telling you, we hear your challenge loud and clear. Rust: ...but there’s something you have to understand if you follow us as closely as you claim to. Rust: Since we unified the OCW tag championships and became the first EVER Undisputed Tag Team champions, we’ve vowed to only face the best. Ne faire face qu'à ceux qui l'ont mérité. Rust peers over to Quartz who has lowered his head. Rust: Unfortunately for you, Doc Green… Antonio… You two may have once earned title shots. Hell, you even did it twice! Turmoil? Summercide? Rust: They were battles, no doubt. Vous etes fort, but you couldn’t get the job done. That’s because CQC is the greatest tag team in OCW history. Rust: You have to know, you’re not the only duo deserving of a shot of these championships. Quartz slowly walks up from the back and lifts both championships with his left hand. He takes the stool and throws it off to the sides. Quartz: So no. Quartz: You do not deserve another chance. Not anymore. Quartz: ...but we are not ignorant to your struggle. Quartz: You will be given another opportunity at this gold. Rust: A #1 contender’s match. That’s what we had to do at Savage Lands 2018… Now that’s what you’ll have to do if you want another crack at CQC. Rust: We don’t know who your opponents are going to be… and quite frankly, we don’t care. Rust and Quartz both step back. Quartz hands Rust’s half of the titles to him. Rust: Because CQC is ready for the biggest and best challenge. We’re ready for those who can prove that they’re ready for us. Both Champions look at each other, then straight to the camera. Rust: Another year of dominance is coming.

You'll get your answer... Today. Hope you're ready, "mate".

Walking out of a store in southern Philadelphia, a large man with a long beard flips his sunglasses onto his forehead on a cloudy northeastern evening. As he turns, we catch a glimpse of a familiar scarlet red iris on the right eye. The massive brooding Quartz is noticeable amongst a crowd of civilians. He carries out one single bag as a shaky camera quickly approaches. Paparazzi: Quartz! Paparazzi: Inness Quartz! The gang of camera wielding newsmen and women ambush the OCW Undisputed Tag Team Champion. He shows his clear displeasure with this and attempts to continue to his car. Paparazzi: Quartz! How will you respond to Doc Green and Antonio Everrett? Paparazzi: Are you going to accept their challenge? As more attention is drawn to Quartz, he looks around and flips his sunglasses back down to his face, concealing his eyes. His pace quickens and he shaskes his head, more and more people paying attention. Paparazzi: Some say this is the end of C.Q.C.. Is that true? Quartz shuffles through the small crowd and tries to enter his car. Paparazzi: Quartz, the people wanna know! ----------eeeee----------- --June 11th, 2002, 8:57pm-- An angry Ijitu Quartz storms out of the gym he was training in. He walks through the rain with a determined smile on his face before ducking under a kiosk and removing his hood. He ruffles his long hair and shakes his head. A single drenched journalist continues chasing the young man. Journalist: Isaiah! Quartz snaps his head over, almost not believing someone would utter that name given what just took place. Journalist: Mr. Quartz... The journalist and his team try to catch their breath. They seem to be the only few who followed Quartz after his violent outburst. Quartz stands perplexed, not volunteering a response. Journalist: I know this is hard for you, but please understand how the people are viewing this. Everyone is behind you. Everyone wants to see you succeed. Everyone... Quartz: Everyone? Journalist: Everyone! The people! The fans that have cheered for you for years since your debut. They want to know what this means for your PGW plans! Quartz stands totally still, unsure of his mood between confused and coherent. Journalist: Mr. Quartz, the people wanna know... ----------eeeee----------- --October 12th, 2008, 6:19pm-- A much more defined Quartz stands against the back wall, his long hair tied back, reverted back to it's natural brown color. A small streak of red can be seen on the right side of his head. As he turns, a large sign reading "Denver City Amateur Wrestling Championship" is seen above him. Quartz continues to hide himself, while trying to watch. A roar grows in the background, revealed to be hundreds of fans in attendance, watching an amateur wrestling show. A long haired kid smirks at his coach and takes a long drink of his water before his match. The radio announcers slowly fade in. Announcer 1: ... he is, the favorite in tonight's amateur wrestling contest. Har-- Announcer 2: He may be the favorite, but Jackson Ullman is no slouch! That Norwegian blood is going to cause a lot of headaches for the hometown hero. Announcer 1: Well, you certainly have a point there. Wow! Listen to these people! Announcer 2: The people want to see who the top amateur wrestler is in the state of Colorado! They are at a fever pitch right now! Announce 1: The people are ready! The people wanna know! ----------eeeee----------- --April 28th, 2019, 4:56pm-- Intell Quartz: ...and to think, you would run away like a coward. Ijitu Quartz sits silent inside the mind of Quartz. The entire surrounding area is black, per the usual inside the mind. Intell Quartz stands in his black overcoat and reading glasses, further lecturing Ijitu, who has lost his will. Intell: I stepped forward to save you last time you did this. Intell: Last time you attempted to destroy us by quitting. Intell leans down towards Ijitu, who still has a completely blank look on his face. Intell: You cannot destroy this body alone. You have incredible strength, but I will never allow you to do that... Intell peers down at the depressed Ijitu before turning around. Intell: ...but you already know that. Coming in from behind Intell is Inness Quartz, seething and sweating, nearing a panic. Intell: Rustin is prepared to walk into Washington tonight and fight two behemoths alone. Because he is no coward. Not like you Ijitu. Intell: Unfortunately, I care not about the man. Intell turns his gaze towards Inness. Intell: Fortunately for Rustin, there appears to be a being who cares for him greatly. A beam of white light shines in. It covers half of Ijitu's face, who does not budge. His lip slightly quivering, he closes his eyes. Intell: Well now. It seems we have a rare concession of power within the Mind. So what will you do, Inness? After your last slip up? After Anniversary? After you lost your place? Inness steps forward, slowly morphing into the current state of Quartz as of April 28th. The light starts to engulf his face. Intell: ...I'm interested to see what you do. Ijitu wants to know. Rustin needs to know. The people want to know... ----------eeeee----------- --October 12th, 2019, 4:15pm-- Inness snaps back into present day consciousness, sitting in his car outside the store. There is a small tape recorder in his face. Paparazzi: Quartz, the people wanna know! Quartz closes his eyes and slams the car door shut. The view fades as his car begins to start up.
